Khrisma has to give a seven-pound winners' penalty to the rest of the field, including classy bumper winner Shotgun Shirley. But she won comfortably at Uttoxeter and was a classy bumper winner in France herself.

This four-year-old filly, trained by Emma Lavelle, is a standout contender dropping in grade. Her most recent run was in a hot Listed Mares' Novice Hurdle at Newbury (November 29), where she finished 5th. That was a stiff task for a young horse. Prior to that, she had shown significant promise on her hurdling debut, finishing 4th. This return to a standard Novice Hurdle represents much calmer waters than she faced last time. Track & Trip The 2m trip on Huntingdon's sharp track should suit her well. She is by Crystal Ocean, suggesting she has a touch of class. The drop from Listed company to this Class 4 event is the key angle. The booking of Champion Jockey contender Harry Cobden is a massive signal of intent from the Lavelle yard. Cobden is riding out of his skin, and his presence suggests connections believe she is ready to get back to winning ways now that her sights have been lowered.

This mare showed plenty of promise last month, finishing third at Warwick, and looks to be a real improver for Harry Derham. Runner-up earlier this year at Punchestown, and I am backing Jem's Lilly to win this Novices' Hurdle.

Purely a small speculative e.w. on Beep Beep Becky, who surely has a bit more to offer on recent efforts suggest but the stable has had long-odds horses in the frame in the past. Besides the obvious favourite here, I think the filly could sneak a place if the next two or three in the betting falter. Stable have had a few places lately and with Toby Wynne riding we could have a surprise.
