Surrey Lord has been placed in three races from six starts. Sixth in a hurdle race over 2m at Uttoxeter on his latest outing earlier this month. Course distance and going should suit. Seems well treated and could well be able to win this race.

Made a promising start for the new stable over C&D. Looks likely to improve on that, and this represents a drop in class. Should get the better of Baikal on this going.

700+ days off, but he was a promising type, and after such an absence, they wouldn't want to take a chance with fitness. Was progressive, and fences can't be far away, but the mark looks very attractive, and I think he could be thrown in.

Taking a chance he will be fit enough after nearly 200 days off. Ran well over further in February and will be £10 lower today. Hopefully, he will get the soft going he needs. 4 places is the way to go.

PORT OR STARBOARD had a largely consistent jumps campaign last season and has had a loosener here on the flat after a lengthy break. Should hopefully come on from that, and the softer ground, this grade, and handicap mark shouldn't provide any negatives. Not got the best win percentage, but there are each-way claims at least.

Won on chasing debut on penultlimate run of last season and not disgraced on follow up run in that sphere. Therefore, interesting why connections are switching back to hurdles here so quickly. Had been showing solid hurdles form before chasing win and very good jockey/trainer combination, makes current 18/1 decent Ew value here.

Christian Williams and Jack Tudor team up on this one. Jack Tudor was in the plate when pulling up Ker Doudairies at Worcester. Soft ground might be what this one requires to stretch out, and having the first run in a handicap could be showing up well.
