Lasko Des Obeaux is the horse to beat in this race. Purchased for £120,000, he boasts a prestigious pedigree (half-brother to the excellent Haddex Des Obeaux). Although his last outing at Exeter was disappointing, his debut at Chepstow was very promising. He is expected to post a Racing Post Rating (RPR) of around 115??'118 if he recaptures his debut form. Trainer Harry Derham has a perfect record of 3 wins out of 3 at Carlisle this season. The change to lighter ground will suit him immensely.

Second of eleven on debut in a bumper race in December. Would have needed that run and can progress further now making a debut over hurdles. Each-way chance.

The favourite in this race is clear, but there is an unexpected candidate among those capable of taking the prize places. A pupil of Willie Mullins' stable, who won the PTP race at the end of November and has now moved to Patrick Morris' stable, is quite capable of being among those fighting for a prize place.

The home-bred Road To Rosley represents the Dixon family. They have few runners and even fewer winners, but if they are going to win, it will likely be on their nearby track at Carlisle, where they have had some success in the past. This lightly raced nine-year-old horse has placed here at Carlisle (12/5) in a National Hunt Flat race, so is not without some ability. Out of a winning pointer, Road To Rosley is related to several winners down the damline. He is given an outside chance of making the places at big odds.
