Johnjay returns to the track and distance of his last win, only 2lb higher in the weights. He is well-suited to the ground and has solid form, making him a strong contender in this race.

Joycean Way is a 4-year-old gelding trained by Gary & Josh Moore and ridden by 5lb apprentice Tyrese Cameron. He heads the weights and runs off 55 with the apprentice claim. He is an ex-Roger Varian horse who joined the current yard off an opening mark of 74, so is some 19lb below and should be more than capable of making an impression in today's grade. He has finished 2-2-2 in his last three starts in class 6 handicaps off marks of 57-58-59. His 2/13 over today's trip and soft ground at Windsor reads well when beaten by a well-handicapped Double Time, a five-time winner who won off a workable mark of 62, having posted a career-high RPR of 87. He was repeatedly denied a clear run in that contest under Tom Queally off a mark of 58 and sits some 3lb lower today on 55. Disappointing in a class 5 on last start but was beaten just a short head in the penultimate start by Enpassant, who has since franked the form, finishing 2-1 winning at Newcastle in September 11. Big chance!

Gone Rogue (IRE) is a 4-year-old bay gelding by Gustav Klimt out of Assault On Rome, trained by Gary & Josh Moore and set to be ridden by Ashley Lewis, who takes a handy 5lb claim. He runs off an official rating of 55, which looks workable given recent form. Last time at Brighton he ran a strong race over 6f 210y, finishing second and beaten less than a length, showing he handles the track’s unique undulations well. The run back in July at Windsor on soft ground is where the attraction came for this selection, he ran really well on the ground that day narrowly missing out. He finished infront of (revival) who ran a cracker in the class 2 Chepstow mile last month in the mix with the likes of (Too much Trevor) and (Ajrad). So im hoping this return to soft ground will play to Gone Rogues strengths

Never Dream is from a good, strong stable that can train great horses. These days, they have a smaller string but still very good horses. On breeding, this trip is okay, and the ground is suitable. So, I'm going to back this horse today.

This veteran has shown remarkable consistency in recent handicaps, securing a victory at this C&D 39 days ago. He finished 2nd in a handicap at Carlisle just 14 days ago, where he made a strong effort but couldn't catch the well-handicapped winner. He performs well here and is expected to deliver another solid performance. At 11/1, he offers excellent value for an each-way bet.

Joycean Way would be a strong fancy in this grade but for conceding 12 pounds to last year's winner. The jockey is the unknown factor as Brighton is not the easiest track to navigate. But he will enjoy the conditions in a bid to repeat last year's win. 13/2 was the price I envisaged, so the 17/2 available is good value to back up Saturday's win at Bath if this race does not come too soon. But with the ground a plus, as well as track experience, I cannot envisage him out of the frame.

STROBELIGHT satisfies some statistics with this trainer/jockey combination 50% at this venue from a significant sample size. This unexposed three year old could be anything having not shown his hand through qualifying and three relatively quick efforts to find a handicap mark can read well. Maybe the market can reveal more about his chance today.

Ran a good 4th in a better class race last time out. Stepped up in trip today and gets its favoured ground. Will be staying on when others weaken.

This is the first time the horse will have encountered ground this soft, and on breeding there's plenty of positives that it will suit. The horse made her debut here for a new stable last time out and ran well for a long way so looks worthy of e/w interest at 20/1 on this soft ground. The trainer has a way better record at this course than anywhere else and the jockey also does well here. He is able to claim 3lb off this bottom weight in this Apprentice handicap and looks the value to me.
