Farmers Insurance Open Tips

Patrick Cantlay put in a solid performance in his first event of the new year, the American Express. He finished T13 and shot sub-70 rounds on all four days.

Hideki Matsuyama can go well this week. He has done very well in this competition many times before and played very well in the Sony Open last time. He can go well this week.

Played really well last week. As long as he is fit, I'm happy to put this ex-number one in my bets this week and watch him on Sunday sink the winning putt on the 18th green.

Ryan Gerard can go well this week. Ryan Gerard has been playing in very good form already this year and did well last week. He has played in this competition once before and went well, and he can do better this week.

Consistent form shown by Si Woo Kim over the last few months where he played well in some strong events and he already has good form against some of the opponents that are also taking part in this event. If Si Woo Kim shows anything like his best form and maintains that, he'll be doing well.

JJ Spaun somewhat disappointed in the Sony Open last week. After shooting 66 in his first round he had a bad second and third round and ended up coming 40th. If he has four consistent rounds, he should have a chance.

Another player toward the top end of this market that I fancy the chances of is Maverick McNealy, who had a really solid year last year with seven top-10 finishes and should carry on that form here.

This looks like a generous price on offer, and I am going to take it. Sam Stevens went close here last year. He looks to have improved since then and has the form to at least place again.

Taylor Pendrith can go well this week. Taylor Pendrith finished inside the top ten the last two years in this competition, has played well in Hawaii already this year, and can do well this week.

He lost in a playoff here, as did Zalatoris, and must be looking forward to this week. Hopefully his injuries are behind him and he can put in a good week.

Knapp is a player I like. He’s been in the mix a lot and came 3rd here in 2024 as a rookie, so I’m hoping he can improve on that this week.

Played very well for three rounds. Fell away in the last round, but I put that down to tiredness. This major champion is going to have a great season again, and I'm backing him this week.

Adam Scott can go well this week. Adam Scott finished second in this in 2019 and has had good results in two U.S. Opens played here. He can do well this week.

Positive signs are there for Max Homa. He might be getting back to something like his best after a poor 2025.

This Farmers Insurance Open has a very open look to it, Alex Noren has the ability to get into the mix. His long and short game looked good in his last few events and he may well find this a bit easier than some of those good events he's played in recently.

Jordan Smith shot a decent 27th place at the American Express Tournament. He had a 64 in his first round but could not back that up in subsequent rounds. With a bit more consistency, he could trouble the leaders.

Missed the cut here last year, but a good price to make a comeback. He was in the top ten in both of the previous years. His 6th in 2024 on ten under is the pick of those.
