About the Basketball Champions League
The Basketball Champions League is a relatively newish tournament, having only been founded in 2016, and like the football equivalent, it features the top teams from around Europe.
After qualification is all said and done, a total of thirty-two teams compete in the main Basketball Champions League tournament. The regular season is split into eight groups, each consisting of four teams, with the winners of each group advancing to the Round of 16.
There is a second chance for those who finished in second or third in the group stages, as these go into a Play-in, where there are eight knockout games and the eight winners advance to the Round of 16.
The Round of 16 is another group-based stage with four groups of four teams, and the top two from each group advance to the playoffs; the other eight are eliminated.
The first round of the playoffs (quarter-finals) is a best-of-three series, but then it is straight knockouts in the semi-finals and the final itself, where the champions will be crowned.
