EW Thin Lizzy made her debut last week, finishing a well beaten last of 12 but I wouldn’t be surprised to see her put that effort well behind her on second outing. It was more like a day at the rodeo for this filly on debut, she came out of the stalls ok but then started bronking and got herself tailed off in the first furlong. She is half sister to Hot Affair, who was an edgy filly on her debut although no where near as bad as Thin Lizzy, she then ran a close second on her next outing and made all to break her maiden on third run. Its a risk that this filly will be better behaved today but she makes a quick return, which is a good sign and her price makes the risk worthy of a little each way.

WIN Captain Corcoran was a soft ground winner in Ireland but only got off the mark over here, when taking advantage of a falling handicap mark last summer, to land a CD success, also on soft ground. Now 5lb below that last winning mark, with a decent apprentice taking a further 7lb off his back, also first run on soft ground this year.

EW Ubahha looks the lesser fancied of the Anthony Brittain runners but this Gosden cast off, showed plenty of promise for previous handler. Wasn’t consistent enough for the Gosden camp, too keen at times but his first & third run were against some decent opposition and he was far from disgraced. First run for new connections came over 5f at Wolves earlier this month, making most of the early running. Should be better suited by the step up in trip on this stiffer track, as long as he isn’t too keen during the early part of the race.
