I would not normally tip anything from this yard, so expensive is it to follow but, with the stable runners clearly in rude health with several winners this week and the fact that this one is top on all measures and on a winning mark, I have weakened. The rider is a capable one although he lacks course experience - I suspect he is the only one involved in the equation that can get this one beaten.

The wonders of the universe include a mass of ironies and twists of fate and for Lucinda, this one would be a readily explainable one. After the disaster at Aintree, with Fox on the deck after the first fence, this one was impressive at Musselburgh in their version of this race and the gelding has only run in a handful of chases and clearly stays well.

But for a nose, she would be unbeaten in 5 races. Already a winner here over 5f and the Lowther over 6f. The reason she is not odds-on is no-one believes she will stay 7f, let alone the mile of the Guineas. Haggas is only human and both he and the owners will want to find out and if she wins today, will surely be supplemented for some kind of 1000 Guineas in Europe. The ground may also be her undoing but even then, there are some mind-blowing possibilities.

It appears both the yards of Haggas and Gosden are just coming to the boil so this may be a good race. Hamish was impeccable last year and if he reteins his ability and enthusiasm, looks set for another good year. It will be tough to concede the weight to some younger rivals, especially Arrest, but the ground is right and he should get the right kind of pace to show off his staying power.

Has good form over fences and hurdles and has dropped to a very favourable mark. The big trainers are throwing everything into the last couple of weeks and the title is up for grabs. There will be occasions though when horses and riders with course experience will make it difficult for those pretenders. This may be a case in point and the trainer and rider in this case are no strangers to success in the north.

There will be much trepidation regarding the Henderson runners as this weekend will determine the true form of the yard. Given his cautious and patient nature there must have been plenty positive signs in the last couple of weeks and this stable-star is the offial top rate and class act in the field.
