Concert Boy

Concert Boy is a 5-year-old who has very good form at Newcastle. He has raced in all of his last four starts here, with form line 2-3-1-2. His win came off a mark of 52 and was over today's trip of 7f. The other races were over a mile, with the most recent being a second where he finished a head behind the winner (who is second favourite at the time of writing). It is worth mentioning that he ran into traffic and did not have the clearest of runs. He looked to have made up the most ground in the later stages. He is drawn well and has a great chance of reversing the form today.

Mademoiselle Belle is a 2-year-old who has run always over 5f and finished 3rd in her last two starts. Her most recent start was a 3rd, 1½ lengths behind the winner over 5f at today's course. This was a very promising run. She made up significant ground in the final furlong or so, despite being at the rear of the field for most of the race. She is drawn in a good stall, and the step up in trip to 6f looks like it will suit perfectly.

The third horse in that race has since won on both subsequent starts, and he finished two lengths in front of him. The one to beat.

CH is one of the best 2-milers when he is on his game. The last three runs have been very disappointing for this horse, who was unbeaten before that fall at Cheltenham in March. He has had a six-month break since that poor run at Punchestown, where he just never found his rhythm. I think the last three runs have shown how he needs to be ridden to get the most out of him. This break gives him a chance to recover and have a fresh start. After all, he is unbeaten when returning from a break. If he turns up today and can jump well, he will probably win off the bridle.

This 2-year-old, trained by Jane Chapple-Hyam, was hugely backed just before the off at Kempton 9 days ago when he won by a nose despite a lot not going in his favour. He sat in mid-division and kicked on late before hitting traffic and not having a clear run. He managed to find a gap late and make up significant ground to get there in time. Upped in weights for his previous success, but with a clear run and a similar performance to last time, he should be too good for these more exposed rivals.

Upped 10 lbs by the handicapper, which makes it 18 lbs higher than her first win in September. Upped in class from Class 6 to Class 5, but still retains the useful apprentice jockey, Aiden Brookes, who claims 3 lbs. Dream Shadow did very well in her bumpers and managed to place twice in listed company at Market Rasen and Sandown. She also did well on her hurdling debut 3 weeks ago, where she finished 0.75 lengths behind the winner at Uttoxeter, who had come second in a Grade 2 bumper. She will come on from the run and, if she turns up on form, should be too good for the rest. The ground should not be an issue as she has run well in all good to soft, soft, and good.

This mare is a very promising one, coming 2nd on her maiden debut at Fairyhouse and ran a very solid race. She was then sent to Cheltenham where she finished 4 lengths behind stablemate Poniros and 3.5 lengths behind Lulamba, who has since won very convincingly in both runs, winning by a combined total of 14 lengths. If she runs to form, she should be far too good for the rest of the field.

Gelded in July and won at Nottingham and has since gone on to have 2 close finishes at Nottingham, a 2nd and a 3rd. After the 3rd place at Nottingham in early October, he then switched stables and won on stable debut at Wolverhampton over 6f off a rating of 68 where he finished superbly down the outside. Has been upped by the handicapper 5lbs to a mark of 73, but Dylan Cunha has acquired the champion jockey's son, Toby Moore, who is claiming 7lbs, meaning he runs off a mark of 66, 2lbs lighter than that Wolverhampton win.
