Impose Toi is a fantastic horse under trainer Nicky Henderson. He has won 3 from his last 3 races. It does scream caution, as it is rare for horses to win four in a row. However, he did get the better of runner Strong Leader last time. He is a course-and-distance winner. It is hard to look past the favourite here in Impose Toi.

Fortification is a winner at this distance with jockey Luke Morris. It will be interesting to see how he takes to the soft going, as he has only been on good to firm and slow going. However, I think with an experienced jockey like Luke he will adapt. Looking at the speed ratings, he is the top-rated out of the bunch today. He does have a good strike rate with one win out of three races. At 6/1, I see value and expect him to be in the mix challenging for the win today.

Be the difference. A distance winner here at Doncaster. I think he will go today. The soft ground will suit him. He had a strong year last year with wins at Sedgefield on soft ground and Bangor on heavy. His last race at the end of the year was disappointing when finishing second to last at Wetherby. He drops down in trip for this one, and I think an each-way at 10/1 is value.

Kastellion made his hurdle debut last year, finishing 6/20 at Chepstow, then finished fourth of five at Leicester. Both races were over a similar distance to today. He has just undergone wind surgery, which could make a huge difference to his performance. This is his first time out this year at Doncaster. Huge odds are on offer on a horse that I think could improve on his last performances. I see value each way.

Begin the Luck has placed in his last 4 races. He was also winning last time out in a highly competitive race over distance at Wincanton. So he is a distance winner. I think he is competitive here. There are a couple of distance winners he's up against. However, I think if it comes down to the straight he beats them on speed. He's top two on the speed rating with 103 and has an official rating of 96, with his win coming at a rating of 94. I think he's a well-rounded horse and will be in the mix today. The going is soft today at Lingfield, which I think will favour Begin the Luck, with his win coming on soft ground at Wincanton.

De Legislator had a good year last year with wins at Ayr over a similar distance. He has shown he is a stayer and is capable of winning at this distance. He won at Ayr on soft and at Wetherby on heavy going. So he can perform on most going. I think 10/1 is a good price, with value each way.

Muskoka with jockey Harry Cobden has finished second in his last two races. One of the second places came over the distance at Ascot. That second place was on good to soft ground, the same as today. He seems to perform on good to soft as well as good. I do see him being in the mix today. At 7/1 I think an each-way is sensible. He is a horse that is in form and could well push to win this race today.

The forecast today for the going at Ayr is heavy ground. Holly Bird with jockey Brian Hughes, I believe, will be in the mix today. He is a horse coming in after finishing second and third in his previous two races. He can perform on all ground types. To note, he did finish third here in December with the same going. Also, this is a step up in trip for him today. If he can manage this step up, I think he will challenge to be in the top three.

He is suited to the distance and I think he will be in the mix to place.

It's looking like good to soft in places for the going. He performs best on both good-to-soft and soft ground, so the going shouldn't be an issue. 9/4 is a fair price for a horse I think is capable of winning. He does face stiff competition from Woodland Park with Sean Bowen. However, Woodland Park hasn't won here, whereas John Barbour has. So I think John Barbour is the one to beat today.

Mr Vango is a fantastic horse and from his form stands a real chance of winning the Welsh National today. His last three races are two wins and a very close second at Aintree over a similar distance. This horse performs best on soft ground, and the going today is good to soft in places. He is certainly a stayer in these hard, long-distance races and should be in the mix today. I think an each-way bet is sensible as we have a lot of runners in this race.
