Had an interest in Horse Racing for many years now, watching on the TV, reading the form, going racing and having a great day out, all of which are in my eyes superb. Have now taken the plunge and have some shares in a few, which again makes it even more interesting. The feeling you get when you have a winner or three is special and I do back all my tips. If you are serious about betting the best thing you can do is watch as much racing as you can, as this is the best way of studying form. If you can't afford to subscribe to the racing channels then you can always catch up with the racing replays on-line with At the Races, Sporting Life and Skybet all free once registered. 3 times a winner here and twice placed says it all for the Scott Dixon trained speedball who likes to get on with it from the front. Has a good draw in stall 4 and jockey Kieran O'Neill has won on him before. Has rated as high as 97 and has won off of 84 and 88 this year, so 86 looks reasonable. 16/1 is far too attractive not to have an each way interest.

Not won in 6 starts (but been running well) since landing a 4-runner class 2 at Kempton in Nov 23. That was off a mark of 130 and has also finished runner-up off 135 in Jan. This is a veterans chase, and despite top weight, today's mark of 121 will feel like a featherweight to him. The Joe Tizzard runner should prove too good for these off his reduced mark.

Raceview Road is off a low weight which may count for everything over this extreme distance. Only a 6yo with 4 chase starts so is very unexposed and looks as though this distance is within reach having won easily over 24f in a PTP and finishing well 19 days ago again over a 24.5f trip. Has winning chase form here at Kelso and should be bang there.

The Paul Nicholls runner looks to have been given a nice mark on his handicap debut. Had a decent mark of 82 on the level and since joining the Ditcheat team has finished 3rd in his two hurdle starts. Those starts were earlier this year and he has since had a wind op. Very unexposed and could be let in lightly here.

This is bottom drawer stuff being a class 6 0-65, but there is some value to be had. My selection has had 7 flat starts with 6 of those on an artificial surface, resulting in woeful form figures for two former trainers. Then switched yards for another 3 efforts over hurdles with nothing to show. Joined Keiran Burke back in October of this year, and he seems to have found the key to this 5-year-old gelding. 4 starts and 2nd twice, narrowly beaten on both occasions. Must have shown something at home as he went off favorite on his first start for these connections, leading over the last only to be beaten on the line. Been quite some time since running on the flat, but he could be a different proposition this time around, and his price looks great each way value.

A totally exposed (54 starts) 6yo from Rod Millman's yard who makes a 365-mile round trip to Lingfield. Has a good record on the all-weather, winning 3 times and placed once from 8 starts. Has won twice here (over 5f) but did win at Kempton over today's trip of 6f off a 1lb higher mark. Ran well over the minimum at Wolvo when last seen, and hopefully, the return to 6f and receiving weight from all can see her go well.

This doesn't look like a handicap packed with class, but there is one that catches my eye, and that is Parish Star. She has not won or placed in 12 starts under both codes, but after a 247-day break and wind surgery, she returned in a class 5 handicap (same grade today) at Ffos Las 23 days ago, where we saw her best performance, finishing 4th of 15. Some say that after a wind operation, if it's worked, it's best to catch them on their second start. So with that in mind, and potentially improving after that long break, she could run into a place with 5 on offer.

Today's mark of 102 is only 2 lb higher than when winning at Southwell in early October. That was a class 4 (0-110), and this son of Sea The Stars has since placed again in a class 4. The favorite here looks strong, but with my selection down in grade (class 5, 0-105) and with the further distance possibly bringing about further improvement, he looks worthy of interest.

Interesting that Lucinda Russell brings her exciting 7-year-old gelding Corrigeen Rock on a mammoth journey south (870-mile round trip). That's not the only reason I like this fella, as it's 292 days since last seen and he has twice won after a long break. The last time we saw my selection was in February, beating Thunder Rock who is now rated 156, which hopefully means Corrigeen Rock, despite top weight, must have a shout off a season opening mark of 144.

This looks to be between the top two in the betting, and Strong Johnson will be good opposition after finishing 8th last week after suffering tack issues. I'm siding with Dashing Harry on only his third start for a new trainer and connections. Bought with the all-weather bonus in mind, as there is considerable prize money involved if amassing enough points over the winter. The yard is targeting 3 runs a month over the winter, and my selection has already run twice in November (4th & 2nd). His latest start was only 3 days ago over course and distance when losing out by a short head. That was a class 4 (0-80), so dropping into a class 5 (0-75) is ideal, and as he runs off exactly the same mark, he looks handicapped to go close.

Wouldn't normally entertain having much interest in such a competitive affair, and my apologies if barking up the wrong tree, but I really fancy Hartur D'arc. Has only had 3 starts (winning twice) since joining Gavin Cromwell, and the yard does not travel over the Irish Sea for nothing. Does have winning hurdles form on good ground along with his only PTP win again with the ground good. Stays further than today's 20f, which will help up the stiff finish and receives 14lb off the Nicholls jolly here, and can hopefully grab a place at fancy odds.

The Irish raider Two Stars must be feared after winning nicely 6 days ago, and connections roll the dice by bringing him over. But this is a big step up. The standout to me in this is the newly acquired Solar Claim, bought by Nick Bradley Racing from the HIT (Horse in Training) sale. Now with the talented Julie Camacho, he was last seen here 14 days ago in the same grade as today, staying on over 5f, finishing 3rd of 15 after suffering interference a furlong out. He does have useful form over 6f, so the step back to that trip here is a bonus. With 4 places on offer, he makes plenty of each-way appeal for his new connections on ground he'll relish.

Either of the two joint favorites could win, but at a price, I like the David Pipe runner Final Entry to grab a place (each way 4 places with Bet365). A very well-bred gelding who had 2 starts for Jessica Harrington in Ireland before joining the in-form Wellington yard. Won at Newton Abbot on his first start for his new connections in July before switching codes back to the flat and was well beaten at Ffos Las in August. Not put off by that, he reappeared 12 days later again at Newton Abbot, finishing a tidy 3rd of 9 back over the smaller obstacles. The first two home that day are good yardsticks and have since run well, and the first 3 home that day were 12 lengths clear of the 4th. What stands out here is the fact that my selection gets the 3-year-old weight allowance and therefore carries 16lb less and is ridden by top jockey Tom Bellamy.

Not many trainers send their horses on an 876-mile round trip (Rod Millman's only runner on the card), but that is exactly what this Devon yard is doing. Must have a chance on that evidence alone, but on looking at his 3 runs to date, he has every chance of making the journey pay dividends. Out of the 11 runners, only 5 have qualified for a handicap mark, and of those, Master Technician is rated the highest and should go close to breaking his maiden tag.

My selection reappeared last month after a 138 day break and was well beaten but it was hurdling so can be ignored I feel. The Matt Sheppard 8yo is a chaser and reverts back to the bigger obstacles here and should strip fitter. Likes Hereford and especially good ground which he gets today. One to note that the trainer sponsors this race so would ideally like to take his own prize home.
