Had an interest in Horse Racing for many years now, watching on the TV, reading the form, going racing and having a great day out, all of which are in my eyes superb. Have now taken the plunge and have some shares in a few, which again makes it even more interesting. The feeling you get when you have a winner or three is special and I do back all my tips. If you are serious about betting the best thing you can do is watch as much racing as you can, as this is the best way of studying form. If you can't afford to subscribe to the racing channels then you can always catch up with the racing replays on-line with At the Races, Sporting Life and Skybet all free once registered. With the forecast rain this afternoon, by the time we get to the last (if we get that far), the ground will for sure be very testing indeed. You will definitely need to stay, act on the ground, which Albus Anne does, and with a 7lb claim, my selection can run off a mark of 54, which I feel gives her a huge chance.

With the ground as it is, it's a huge leveller as some won't act on it as well as others. Russian Rumour has won on heavy here at Bath previously and does get on well with 5lb claimer Olivia Tubb. Hasn't encountered this ground in 5 starts in 2023, so it would be no surprise to see her stay better than the rest at a nice price.

Let's see out the card with a bit of value from another who has had a good year, winning once and placed 5 times from 10 starts. This is a step up in class, but with a 3lb claim, gets in here off bottom weight and races off the same mark as when beaten narrowly (short head) 15 days ago. 5 places give him a chance as the first two home last time at Newmarket were clear of the 3rd.

What a great Sunday card at York with all races being ultra-competitive. My nap is in the 4:00 and after 4 starts looks very progressive. Runner-up on his only start last year as a 2-year-old but obviously wintered well. After reappearing at Carlisle towards the end of May when a promising 3rd of 11, he has since won twice. As said, he looks progressive and he won well last time with possibly more to come.

I do like Alzahir each way at a price, but he has to give my selection 12 lb, and that is a big ask. Air Force One has had 3 starts since joining Geoff Oldroyd from Ireland, and his last two have been very good indeed, winning and then a 3rd of 20 over course and distance. This, I believe, looks a fraction easier, and he can go close.

Has looked as though his turn is near after his last 5 starts this year have all been pretty decent. Acts on the track, in soft ground, and with Jamie Spencer on top, he will do his usual heart-in-mouth late run. If avoiding trouble in running, he can hopefully get one on the board to finish his season on a high.

The Michael Dods 9yo sprinter Owes Nothing but looks well-weighted to deliver on Saturday. Is in here off a falling mark of 82, which is 13lb lower than in his pomp. Has run well here before and comes into this after an eye-catching fast-finishing 6th of 18 in a very competitive-looking Class 3 at Ayr in July. I like the fact Paul Mulrennan is booked, having ridden 3 times before and twice a runner-up. As always, will need luck in running, but if everything falls into place, he can swoop late.

With 5 places on offer, I like the Clive Cox-trained Star Anthem. Yes, this looks competitive, but my selection likes these soft conditions and is an unexposed 3-year-old having only had 8 starts. This is a first start over 8f but shapes as though he will stay. Gets the 5lb weight for age allowance, and with Callum Shepherd in red-hot form (a 4-timer yesterday), he can go well at nice odds.

I'm attracted to Rising Force not only because of his form but also for jockey Henry Callan, son of Neil. My selection is better, I feel, in the all-weather but has been on turf for his last 7 starts. His last all-weather run was at Southwell when 2nd of 12, beaten a short head. Today's pilot, Henry, is more value than his claim suggests, and this owner-trained 4yo can go close.

This 2nd season 4yo has to overcome a lengthy layoff but has changed yards, and the yard is red hot, operating at 40% in the last fortnight. Showed a good level of form in his first season last year, winning a very competitive nursery at Glorious Goodwood and also finished runner-up 3 times. Apart from Clan Chieftain, all come here in some sort of form. But it's a tip in itself that David Pipe sends Bashful Boy on a marathon journey north from Somerset. This class 4 is a big drop from the class 2 he contested 26 days ago at Goodwood, where it looked as though he didn't see out the 20.5f trip. The drop back to 18f looks ideal, and the last twice has looked as though his turn is near. If backing each way, then it's a free bet if placed at 1/5 of the odds.

My selection was so impressive when winning his maiden on his second start in April that connections then went in deep and he ran in two Group 3s. Fearnot for Clice Cox seems to be well fancied at 13/2 and if that's the case then my selection Dividend must surely come into the reckoning. I say that as when Dividend was last seen 64 days ago at the Royal meeting there was a neck between them (3rd & 4th of 30) and today my selection has a 6lb swing in the weight. Rossa Ryan is booked to ride and with 5 places on offer the 16/1 price is too big.

It was a very good performance 19 days ago at Goodwood to finish 2nd of 16, beaten a short head. Connections look to gain compensation here, and back against her own sex, she could do just that. She is still unexposed after 6 starts, but she has already won twice and, as said, was runner-up when last seen. The Balding/Murphy combination are in fine form, and she looks a solid favourite.

This is a step up on what Alice Monet has achieved thus far, but the shrewd Dermot Weld would not be traveling over the water if he didn't think she was up to it. Hopefully, the same tactics will be deployed again here as the last twice (in small fields) she has led from start to finish. This is not only up in class but also up in distance, but she has been strong through the line the last twice and not looked like stopping over 10 & 9 furlongs.

It's a big ask for Woohoo in this very competitive sprint especially as she is out of the handicap (5lb) proper. That is offset by Amy Waugh's 3lb claim which can only help but it will be a tough task. I like the Jim Goldie filly as she is very progressive and won 4 from 5 starts in May/June and you can draw a line under her last two efforts with excuses in both. I'm not sure which side of the track has the bias but my selection is drawn in the middle so Amy can choose what they feel is the best side. She stays 6f which is a plus and can go well off a feather weight.

I don't help myself as this is another big sprint with a huge field to pick from but I really like the Charlie Hills runner. Comes here in form after losing a head bob in a good sprint at Windsor 9 days ago. Prior to that had been running well and did win twice at Doncaster & Ripon in June. Mark has dropped a 1lb today and is now 93 and with Kieran Shoemark retaining the ride he can go close.

It was 22 days ago that Princess Honey Bee made not only her race debut, but her turf debut, because Eve had not been able to work her 2yos on turf at home due to the hard ground. With that in mind she ran a race full of promise not beaten at all far into 3rd place, with Danny Muscutt having kid gloves on as she was a young green filly on her first racecourse appearance. The form of that affair has been franked these past few days with the 4th & 1st winning nicely and the 2nd beaten a nose. She will have benefited enormously for that first start and this looks to be an ideal opportunity to get off the mark.

I've sided with Judge Frank, albeit his last two races have not been inspiring. Only four starts this year with only one being okay, which was here mid-June when he finished 3rd of 11 off 60. There were excuses, I feel, for the others, and looking back to last year, he was only a head 2nd to Moe's Legacy, who runs later in the Bath card. He has won twice, one off 57 (today's mark) and the other off 59. He likes to hear his feet rattle, which he gets tonight, and he has been backed from odds of 22s.

This looks like a great sprint final series, and my eye is drawn lower down the weights to Bishop's Crown. Not won since September last year, but that was off a mark of 81, and he looked to be coming back to form the last twice when 3rd of 10 and more recently 3rd of 11. Today, with the very good claimer Oliver Carmichael taking off 7lb, he runs off a very good-looking 71. The yard is in form, and off such a competitive mark, he makes a lot of each-way appeal.
