Had an interest in Horse Racing for many years now, watching on the TV, reading the form, going racing and having a great day out, all of which are in my eyes superb. Have now taken the plunge and have some shares in a few, which again makes it even more interesting. The feeling you get when you have a winner or three is special and I do back all my tips. If you are serious about betting the best thing you can do is watch as much racing as you can, as this is the best way of studying form. If you can't afford to subscribe to the racing channels then you can always catch up with the racing replays on-line with At the Races, Sporting Life and Skybet all free once registered. Always worth taking note when Nigel Tinkler travels south from North Yorkshire, and he does just that with Duran, whose season opener 14 days ago should see him straight today. Had a productive time last season, winning 3 times and twice placed from 9 starts. All starts bar one were with Faye McManoman on board, as was the 2nd of 9 at Beverley earlier this month. Interesting that Tom Marquand is booked for this Ascot Class 4, and it definitely looks winnable.

With the Gosden/Shoemark combo in fine form hopefully my selection will transfer his superb all-weather form to turf, and if he does he will surely go close. A late developer as only had one 2yo start in Dec 23 when a promising 2nd of 11 and was then not seen until Apr 24 when winning by over 4 lengths. Two subsequent starts in the Autumn of last year saw him again winning by 3 lengths and then by 4. He looked the part as a 3yo and if trained on could be anything.

Always risky taking an interest in maiden affairs, but the Eve Johnson-Houghton runner was a real eye-catcher 15 days ago when 4th at Newbury. That was a good-looking race and was unlucky not to have finished in the frame. Will have come on for that and learned a lot and must be a player here with that run in the locker.

Has had 5 starts thus far with the first of those over course and distance in May of last year followed by 4 decent all-weather efforts (won one, placed twice). The debut effort here when 2nd of 9 has worked out well with the winner now rated 92, so today's mark of 75 looks rather attractive.

I respect the Rebecca Curtis runner, but looking into that last run, which is why he is the favorite, he was carrying 3lb more than my selection. They meet again here on totally different terms and under totally different conditions. With a 7lb claim for Will Do, he is effectively 14lb better off for being beaten 5.5 lengths. Taking into account the ground, I feel the Gordon Elliot runner can turn the tables at much better odds.

With the going described as good to firm, there are already 5 non-runners, which makes it slightly easier for my selection. Had a good 2yo season, winning on this ground first time up before scoring again and then finding the ground and rise in class (Group 3) too much when last seen in October. Back into listed class and onto favoured going should see her go close. Haggas/Marquand have started the season well, and with a 3yo allowance, she gets 10lb from the top 2 in the betting.

Had a good season last year, winning 3 times and twice a runner-up from 8 starts. The last 2 starts from that season saw the Mark Johnston 4-year-old beaten a long way, but they were in a Group 2 and a French Group 1. Started this season (10 days ago) with a very decent looking 3rd of 4, beaten less than a length in a listed class affair at Nottingham. So this drop back into handicap company will be very welcome and can see him back to winning ways.

Intervention ran a cracking race 7 days ago when returning to turf in a Class 2 handicap at Pontefract (5f), finishing 4th of 10 and not beaten far. That was after 8 runs on the all-weather, winning a Class 4 over 7f at Lingfield late March. The step back up a furlong will suit, along with the return to Kempton (4th of 12 last September when here last in a 6f Class 2 off of 84). Mason Paetel takes off a handy 7lb again, bringing his mark to a very attractive 75 and back into calmer waters (Class 4) makes this a very good each-way bet.

Has been plying his trade over the winter months hurdling, and although he has not got his head in front in that sphere, there was nothing wrong at Huntingdon last month when runner-up over 19.5f. Switches back to the flat under Gina Mangan, who knows him well, and hopefully, he can win as he did at Catterick in October when last on the level.

With each-way playing down to 6th, I think it's worth chancing one with a featherweight. With a 7lb claimer on top, his mark is down to 119, which is only 1lb higher than when winning at Aintree in December 2023. He has run well in his 7 starts since, finishing placed on 4 occasions (runner-up 3 times), all off higher marks than today's. With little weight on his back (9st 11lb) and over a marathon trip, he could well run a place for a yard that will be trying desperately for prize money as they are chasing the trainers' title.

Famoso loves to hear his feet rattle and definitely gets that here at Newton Abbot this afternoon. Not only that, but he is pretty consistent over the minimum 16f and receives 12lb from the favorite, and that swings it. The favorite will lead, which will suit my selection, and if this doesn't get too tactical, he can wait until late and hit the front.

So consistent and is so exposed, this 8yo hides nothing from the handicapper and has appeared on the all-weather more than twice than turf. Was seen to good effect 11 days ago, making all to win nicely at Lingfield. That was off a mark of 79, but with a very good 7lb claimer (4 from 8 in last 14 days) on board today, he can run off a mark of 75. Interesting that they drop him back to the minimum 5f trip here, but if he can go from the front again, he looks a player at nice odds.

Be wrong of me not to put one up for the most famous race in the world, and I'm hoping it's one at a fancy price. Only had 6 chase starts and has stood up on all occasions, winning twice and placed twice. Goes well on good ground and the 9th of 19 when last seen can be ignored as it was a hurdle run to save his handicap mark especially for this. Darragh O'Keeffe has won on him before and coming from one of the big Irish yards he could easily make his presence felt.

Put up a cracking performance 34 days ago when 2nd of 18 in a hot looking Kelso class 2. That was off a career high mark and with a 5lb claim today my selection can run off effectively a 2lb lower mark. That must bring him into the calculations especially on a flat galloping track like Aintree and with the yard in fine form he looks overpriced.

There are not many trainers in such good form as Killahena & McPherson (3 from 3 in last 14 days) and they run Amelia's Star who can go well at huge odds. Saw the track for the first time in Nov when coming from the back to finish a promising 2nd of 11 (winner won again since). Not seen then until late Jan when running out a nice winner 1st of 9 beating one that has gone on and won again. She has had plenty of time to come on again and with the yard flying this one is not without a chance.

Like a lot of these in this year's Foxhunters, if you look back far enough in the form book, their rating is far higher than the current mark. That is exactly what can be said of Presentandcounting, as his current mark is 122, but looking back to 2022, his mark was 21lb higher at 143. That is some difference for one that I feel still has ability. Likes to be prominent (no bad thing here to stay out of trouble) as he has shown the last twice only to weaken late on over 24/25f. The drop back in trip here to 21f should suit, and with Derek O'Connor in the saddle again (was last time), I'm hoping he can go well. Having Derek in the plate can prove vital as he is the most successful point-to-point rider of all time, and along with the name McCain (synonymous with these national fences), my selection looks great value at huge odds.
