The handicapper has been kind to Cerendipity. He was dropped 3 lb after his fifth-place finish at Haydock last month, meaning he is now 5 lb lower than his last winning mark. This makes him arguably the best-handicapped horse in the race if he can find his best form. He seems to be a seasonal horse, with his last two victories both coming during the spring months, suggesting he hits his peak at this time of year. While his recent form figures (4-24F65) look a bit messy, most of those runs were in higher-grade races or on ground that didn't quite suit.

In his two starts to date, he has finished a close 2nd both times. His most recent run at Chepstow (Feb 13) saw him beaten by less than two lengths by Aqua Bleu, a horse who has since performed well. His existing form is significantly higher than any of his rivals. Unlike many of his opponents, Mwabani has already run at Exeter (finishing 2nd in November). That experience he can put to good use today.

C&D winner, having won over these hurdles in the past. If there is a track where he’ll suddenly find his spark again, it’s here. His last run at Gowran Park (March 7) was poor??"he finished 9th and was beaten by over 70 lengths, but he could easily spark again here. He led early but weakened quickly, which suggests he might be struggling with his current handicap mark of 99. Loves testing conditions, and with the ground at Limerick described as heavy, the conditions are exactly what he needs to outstay his rivals. Worth a small each-way play.

Has been running in much tougher maidens, and an opening mark of 103 on handicap debut is quite lenient based on his ability. Today he runs over 2m 3½f. His pedigree (by Robin Du Nord) and his background as an ex-point-to-pointer strongly suggest that this step up in distance will suit him much better than the 2m he has been contesting. He has finished in the top four in all three of his starts over hurdles this year (3rd, 4th, 4th). His 4th at Carlisle in February??"beaten by only five lengths??"showed he handles this specific track well.

This drop to almost 6f could suit him perfectly. In his final start of last term at Cork, he was too keen over 1 mile, suggesting he has the natural speed for this shorter sprint. This is his first run in a handicap after competing in maidens. He starts with an Official Rating of 70, which is a competitive mark he can exploit. Unlike some of the older horses in the field, this 4-year-old is relatively unexposed and likely has more room for improvement.

Running off an official rating of 72. Last season he was competing off marks as high as 82. This significant drop in the weights makes him dangerously well treated if he can return to his best form. As a son of the legendary Sea The Stars, he certainly has the pedigree to be better than a Class 5 handicapper.

Since switching to fences this year, his performances have improved significantly compared to his hurdles form. He was a very creditable second at Catterick in January. On his most recent start (over this course and distance in February), he was right in the mix and disputing the lead before falling at the final fence. He carries a relatively low weight of 11st 3lb today, receiving 11lb from the stablemate and favourite, Paddys Policy. The booking of Charlie Maggs, who claims a valuable 3lb allowance, further lightens his load.

Since switching from hurdles to fences, he has looked like a completely different horse. He enters today seeking a third consecutive win after dominant performances at Catterick and Wetherby. At seven years old, he is relatively young for a long-distance chaser. While the handicapper has raised his rating by 10 lb for his recent wins, he probably hasn't reached his ceiling yet.

Highly regarded in France (where he was a Grade 2 runner-up at Auteuil). His recent runs have been very encouraging. He finished 3rd at Leopardstown on Boxing Day and a respectable 4th at Naas in January. Crucially, the winner of that Naas race, Shuttle Diplomacy, is a decent prospect, which makes Kilgame's form look strong. With an official rating of 122, if he runs to his mark he should theoretically be too good for this maiden company.

Has finished in the top four in all five of his career starts. Crucially, his fourth-place finish at Cheltenham in December has aged incredibly well ??" the winner of that race, Old Park Star, went on to win the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival earlier this month. His last run was a narrow defeat on heavy ground at Exeter. Today’s good-to-soft surface at Newbury is expected to suit him much better, as he can use his speed more effectively. The booking of Harry Cobden for trainer Joe Tizzard is another plus.

Bought for €80,000 after an impressive 25-length win in an Irish point-to-point. That performance signaled he has massive engine and stamina. He made his hurdling debut at Wincanton in January, finishing 4th in a very deep race. The horses that finished around him that day have since performed well at the Cheltenham Festival, making that form look rock solid. The 2m 3½f distance and the good ground at Bangor today are expected to suit him perfectly, allowing him to use his long stride more effectively than the heavy mud he faced at Wincanton.

Recently returned to hurdles at Warwick in February and won a Listed race convincingly by four lengths. While she was sent chasing earlier this season and won at Exeter, her jumping looked a bit suspect over fences. Moving back to hurdles seems to have revitalized her, as evidenced by that dominant Warwick win. Today marks her first attempt at a 3-mile trip. However, her effort at Warwick suggests the extra distance will play directly to her strengths rather than hinder her.

Comes into this race after a highly promising fourth-place finish over this course just 20 days ago. He was prominent for a long way and only faded late. His official rating has eased slightly to 109. Given he was a winner over hurdles at this track in the past, he appears to be on a very dangerous mark for his third start over fences. He has shown his best form on this type of ground.

Yet to score over hurdles in 17 starts, and connections reach for a hood today.

Today's marathon trip of 3m 3f should play to her strengths. She has often stayed on well in shorter races, suggesting she has more to give over this distance. She is a previous winner at Sedgefield, which is a major plus. Experience on this undulating track is often worth a few lengths. She is ridden by Danny McMenamin for the Sue Smith yard. McMenamin is in excellent form, striking at nearly 30% over the last fortnight, and this stable is known for producing hardy stayers.

His win last week was in a Conditional Jockeys' race, so he escapes a penalty here, running off the same mark of 88, making him well in against the rest of the field. He clearly handles the Sedgefield track well. While today’s race is longer (2m 4f compared to his recent 2m 1f win), his form on the Flat suggests he has plenty of stamina. The step up in trip may actually improve his performance.
