Looking at what little form we have maybe it could live up to its name. The Henry De Bromhead 5yr old has only run twice. Sired by the high class flat horse Telescope who ran right up to Group 1 company he certainly has speed in his CV. Won his first race in a PTP at Necarne by 12L when quite fancied and sent off at 6/4 favourite. Was put away for 4 months before being entered in a Bumper at Naas and again went off favourite, winning by over 3L on Gd/Y. Will have Rachael Blackmore on board.

Small field but quite a decent race, will have to take the Dan Skelton traIned L'Eau Du Sud to finish off the stables success. The 7yr old really got his act together when changing to the larger fences last October. Won 4 consecutive races in smallish but high class fields including one at Cheltenham before having his colours lowered by Nicky Hendersons Jango Baie at Cheltenham in March when finishing 4th of 5 but only finishing just behind the Willie Mullins trained odds on favourite Majborough. Feel that this is a slightly easier race and could get back to winning ways.

And so we have the annual Aintree lottery. One can only go by a gut feeling and a bit of form. The selection has a decent bit of form and although might be considered as a Cheltenham specialist I think the Cross Country is a different type of discipline. So the Gavin Cromwell 8yr old has won his last 4 races over the larger fences, last 2 were 3m 5f races and was going well in the 4m 1f race at Punchestown last may before unseating rider so stamina assured. Has a decent weight, gets on well with rider K M Donoghue and should handle the conditions.

Koktail Divin

Can't beat the Bromhead/Blackmore combination and the 5yr old Koktail Divin seems to be going the right way after coming over from France. Fairly well fancied for his first race at Leopardstown, beaten half a length after being sent off at 7/2 over 2m 4f with Blackmore on board. A drop back to 2m in a big field at Fairyhouse saw him finish 3rd but was no match for the first 2 with a mistake at the last. Reverted back to 2m 4f at Leopardstown last time out and ran with more promise when clear at the last, going on to win by 6 lengths. Could well have the ability to take this.

At the current price of 20/1 it may well shrewd to take an each way punt on Shes A Saint. The 8yr old Dan Skelton mare has never finished out of the first 2 in her 8 race career. Has run up to 3 mile but shorter distance and current going no problem. Amateur rider Tristan Durrell has ridden and won on her in the past and with his 3lb allowance reducing the allocated 10st 5lb everything seems favourable. Slight concern might be the 314 days she's been off but i'm sure trainer wouldnt run her at this prestige meeting if not ready.

Will probably be won by one of the prominent Irish trainers and i'm taking Willie Mullins to get the better of Gordon Elliott with the 5yr old Salvator Mundi. Didn't run too well for the irish trainer at Cheltenham after coming over from France, getting beat 17L by stablemate Majborough but that was on heavy ground. Did however win his next 2 races at Tipperary and Punchestown respectively when ridden by Paul Townhend but could only finish 5th of 11 to stablemate Kopek Des Bordes at Cheltenham in March after losing his position when ridden not too enterprisingly by Mr P W Mullins. A much better run anticipated today.

The Nicky Henderson trained 7yr old has to carry top weight so will need to be at his best. Has performed quite well up to Grade 3 level, winning 4 of his 9 races over hurdles. Just got touched off by Jimmy Du Sueil at Cheltenham in a Grade 3 over 2m 5f in March, but had previously won at Newbury over 2m 4f before that. Distance and going favourable and trainer has to get this right if he wants more business from legendary owner J P McManus.

With no rain around for the forseable future a good few of these horses wont be happy with these conditions. However Calico from the Dan Skelton stable will relish them. Has won 3 of his 17 races over the larger fences with 7 placings to back them up. Been running mainly in Class 1 and Class 2 and has course experience although was 7L behind Jonbon when falling at the last. Trainer likes to target Aintree so feel sure this one will be ready to go.

This 10 year old trained by C R Barber is a model of consistency, winning 5 times under rules and no less than 9 PtP races. Prefers the going good side of soft and has course experience with winning this race in 2023 beating Bennys King. Will be ridden this year by Mr James King who was on board when winning his prep race on March 15th at Cothelstone Point to Point.

For the opener we take Irish trainer Willie Mullins to continue where he left off at Cheltenham by winning this. His entry the rated Impaire Et Passey ridden by stable jockey Paul Townend is a 7yr old that won 2 of his 3 chases after a very successful career over hurdles where he won 6 of his 9 hurdle races, one of which was a Grade 1 at this course. His only defeat over the larger fences was by stable companion Ballyburn when finishing 3rd. Going and distance no problem.
