It's worth opposing the hot favorite here as he steps up massively in trip. Midnight Jewel is the selection and is 1 lb below the highest winning mark. He has won here before and would have won again here but for tipping up over the last. The trainer's horses are in form, so I am expecting a big run here. 5/1 looks good value in a five-horse field.

Trained locally to me, and the trainer must think a lot of this horse because its last two runs were in really hot company, Class 1 and Class 2, but disappointed in both. Now she makes her handicap debut in a Class 5. She was 4th in a CD maiden here in January, and nothing was traveling better than her turning for home and looked nailed on to win. But maybe the heavy ground didn't suit. Well, it's good to soft this time, and as luck has it, I will be there to watch her run tomorrow. I can't believe she is 50/1 at the moment, and I'm already on e/w.

Surely this stable must be on a mission here and a point to prove because this horse won comfortably when last seen here 464 days ago but was disqualified for a banned substance. I don't think it would have made any difference to the result that day anyway, as the horse had previously won off a 21 lb higher mark in the past, so was very well handicapped to do so. Well, the horse only got raised 4 lb for that effort, and I'm sure the trainer will want to win this and prove that the banned substance had nothing to do with her horse winning that day. So let's wait and see. It must be worth an each-way wager at 16/1 in a 10-horse race.

Grange Walk is currently in good form over hurdles, finishing 2nd in his last two races over today's distance. But he goes back chasing today and returns to Gowran Park, where he won over the larger obstacles over the minimum trip off a mark of 137. He runs off a 19 lb lower mark here, and the 16/1 on offer in an 11-horse race represents great e/w value.

Scratching my head here. Jockey J Slevin has come over the water from Ireland for just the one ride here at Market Rasen when he could be riding at Listowel. The horse is top weight, and if fully wound up after a two-year break, he should win this. The Twiston Davies stable is more than capable of getting one ready after a long break. Currently priced at 28/1. I'm going straight win here.

Went close on his penultimate start at Roscommon, beaten just over a length. The third horse was 8 lengths further back. He now returns to the scene of his course win over hurdles and at 14/1 has got to be considered.

Shoulders top weight here and carries it well when in the mood. Pulled up last time out at Newton Abbot. I think the course might not have suited and the trip across the water, but was beaten only a head at Wexford the time before that and had more left in the tank. Returns to Listowel today where he won his maiden in good style. I think this could be a going day for him and I'm on at 20/1.
