Been waiting for this one to come out and can't believe we are getting 100/1. Sophie Power finished 4th in a novice hurdle at Chepstow and could have finished 2nd bar a couple of mistakes and was allowed to come home in her own time. But the horse that did finish second, who was only 3 lengths ahead of her, is a better flat horse than the 6/4 favorite in this race. The books have just opened on this race and the 100/1 is absolutely crazy. I'm sure it won't go off at anywhere near that price. With only five runners, it's worth an each-way shout, and 25/1 for finishing 2nd.

The stable saddles two in this race, and when one of them is top weight, it's usually a sign that the other runner will be the one to be on. It's complicated to explain why, but it's something to do with the trainer working out if the horse is happy to carry this amount of weight to win this race. Because if her other runner wasn't running, it would be carrying 8lb more, which could be too much for the horse to win. You get my drift. Venetia Williams is a very clever trainer, and I'm on at 12/1 e/w.

Go Dante is very lightly raced for a 9-year-old, only 17 races and won 5 of them. He was 3rd of 21 in this race last year on heavy going, carrying 11st 3lb. Go Dante carries 11st 0lb today, and the ground could cut up again as it is described as soft at the moment, which will still suit. The trainer's horses are in very good form at the moment, and I can quite easily see this one running a big race at 33/1.

Deborah Cole saddles two in this race, and I think both have chances at big odds. But Flight Deck looks the one to be on. He has won races carrying big weights on soft and heavy ground and carries only 10st 10lb today, taking off the jockey's 5 lb claim. Flight Deck should find this race easier than the class 1 he contested last time out when 4th of 4, beaten only 12 lengths. The trainer's last horse she sent out won, and I think this is a great e/w shout at 33/1, especially with 4 places up for grabs.

Came into form this time last year with two wins at this course. Has also been placed on four other occasions from nine runs here. Trainer opting for a 7lb claimer in the up-and-coming Fred Daly, who has ridden this horse once before. It's a long journey to send just the one horse, so I'm expecting it to be trying. The 20/1 on offer looks a good e/w shout with just nine runners.

Not the sort of races I back in, but I like to do at least one a day and I'm taking Ice Opera to upset the odds-on favorite here. Ice Opera got worn down near the line over 12 furlongs last time out and the drop to 10 furlongs looks ideal. The favorite here is now a 9-year-old top chaser who is entered at the Cheltenham Festival in March, and this surely just might be a run out for it. I just can't imagine the horse would be fully wound up for a maiden at Dundalk on the flat. Anyway, at 7/4, don't go overboard with your bets and keep them sensible.

Pulled up last time out and has since had a wind op, but prior to that was a good 4th of 10 at Ffos Las. Bradley Harris now takes over in the saddle, and this stable generally uses Bradley when their horses are ready to win. The stable's last two runners have both won, which bodes well for Walkinthecotswolds today. 8/1 looks a sound e/w bet.

R. Condon has a good record on this horse, six times in the frame including one win and unplaced twice. He is now back on board after a couple of poor rides by another jockey, probably deliberately trying to get the handicap mark down. This horse hasn't won at this trip but was 3rd of 19 off a higher mark at Galway, which is a tough uphill finish. So I can't see a problem in getting this trip on a slightly easier course, which he likes and has won over before, but shorter. Worth chancing e/w at 25s.

Macs Charm is following the same path as last year. He had two very poor prep runs and then finished 5th of 18 in this race. He has done the same this time around, with another couple of poor runs to bring his handicap rating down. Now he comes into this 6lb lower than he did last year. It's very clever training methods because if you have a horse good enough to go for a big pot, you have to run some very bad races at times to get your handicap mark down. This is Macs Charm's favourite course with form figures of 1, 2, 2, 5, so it makes sense that connections are aiming to win this race. Brian Hayes rides again. I think 25/1 represents great e/w value, and I would be surprised if he doesn't hit the frame with five places on offer.

There's a lot of negatives about most of these, but at least Super Citizen has good recent CD form when 3rd of 13 last time out. The 2nd and 4th that day had both won their previous races, so the form looks solid. Currently 8 lb below its highest winning mark, so entitled to be there or thereabouts, and at 13/2 looks a good e/w bet to recover your stake should he finish 2nd or 3rd.

Seems to have lost her way, but she has been running in some really hot races at some top courses. Now she drops massively in grade and is the quality act in this race, a 17 lb plus better horse than the rest of them here, and has won here before. On the drift this morning, but that doesn't surprise me. It's probably because Tabitha Worsley is on board, whose strike rate doesn't inspire punters to back her mounts with confidence. But like most jockeys, given the best tools, she can get the job done. She was 2nd on this horse over CD last time out, and this horse has been runner-up three times from three handicap races here over CD. So, it looks an outstanding e/w bet at 11/1 with 9 runners, especially as the rest of the field have no course form to their names.
