Cannes has already been well found in the market and at the current prices is too short for a bet. Perhaps underappreciated in the market is Karl Burke's well-bred 3-year-old Teofilo colt. He has won over 10f in this grade of race at Pontefract. He was hanging badly right but was still a convincing winner in a Class 3 at Wolverhampton last time out. He has the class and distance experience and just needs to put them together to be competitive here.

There's a lot of tinkering going on with Sand Gazelle. She has previously won at 7f and 10f. The latter was a good-ground Listed race at York, which was followed by a very decent Group 3 effort over 9f at the Curragh. Couldn't quite see out the Irish race, edging right and getting beaten close to home. Dropping into handicap company for the first time, first-time blinkers and a drop back in trip are all positives.

Was third in this race last year and is back to try again with Tom Marquand also back in the saddle. Didn't get the cleanest of runs at the business end of the race in 2026 but still finished less than a length in 3rd place. Seven-year-olds have a good record in this race and the trainer had three of the top four places last year so obviously a target for the yard.

Yard in good form and go well at the course.
