Super competitive race and Willie Mullins is mob-handed. Olympic Man didn't get a good run round in the Scottish National and was hampered by a faller. Half a mile shorter today should play to his favor. First-time hood also interesting. At the prices and bottom of the weights without being out of the handicap makes him the more interesting bet.

The Novice Chase Challenge Cup at Cheltenham is a good form guide for this race. On that basis, it's no surprise to see Haiti Couleurs at the top of the market. However, Gordon Elliot's Will Do finished 5 and a half lengths 3rd in that race and re-opposes on 7lb better terms with a useful claimer taking off another 7lbs.

Can take a run to get going after a break and should be fitter after his Southwell adventure for seasonal reappearance two weeks ago. It looks a competitive race, but at the prices, Vintage Clarets looks underappreciated.

Gelded son of Derby winning Masar. Definitely gets the trip. Won at 2miles in a class 3 at Southwell and then 2nd place in a Class 4 at Southwell. Bottom weight, couple of lbs out of the handicap but notable jockey booking. Yard are in good form and go well in these sort of races.

On seasonal reappearance was drawn wide at Southwell and finished 4th out of 13. Should come on for that run and equally the benefit of race fitness could be key here.

I may have my doubts about the yard but the jockey booking is significant and this well bred 4 year old has placed in this grade over a furlong shorter. Has run well at Newmarket and won an ok race last time out to close his 3 year old campaign. At the prices makes more appeal than the top of the market though I appreciate he might outrun his odds rather than being a serious contender.

3rd place in the Grade 1 Breeder's Cup Juvenile over a mile on firm ground is impressive form. The winner has started his own season with a comfortable enough Group 3 victory in Ireland. Aomori City broke the gates at Del Mar and had to be restalled. Even after the disrupted start, he was closing on the winner at the line, only going down less than a length. The drying ground at Newmarket will be to his favor.

High draw not ideal, and the pace is with the lower drawn runners. However, I'm not sure any of the low drawn horses are that well handicapped or particularly capable at this level. Spirit Genie is running second time after a wind operation. Last time out was off a break of 5 and a half months. Should come on for the run and the surgery. Last won a Class 2, 7-furlong race at Chester from a mark of 86. Rated 3 lbs higher than that, but the yard is also in decent form and does well at the track.

Tizzard yard is in great form right now. Rock My Way has been running well in 3-mile Novice Chasers with similar race conditions. Lacks a turn of pace and often staying on at the line suggests he's going to grind it out. The extra almost 2 furlongs compared to his last run would be a benefit, as should a flatter track than Cheltenham.

2nd in this race last year and re-opposes the winner on 5lb better terms. Lost his way after that 2nd place but is still only 7 years old and the yard is in great form. The return to good ground is a positive while weight and break are, to my mind, negatives on the other Cromwell runners.

A tricky race to find something at a price, but Barnavara's form is closely aligned with both Exactly and Merrily. Finished in front of Merrily last time out and a place behind Exactly on the two runs before that. It may well be the O'Brien runners are significantly better, but on form, I don't see that Barnavara should be such a wildly bigger price.

Actually placed 2nd in a Class 2 mile handicap at Chelmsford beating the useful, and subsequent Listed scoring Capulet by half a length. The addition of blinkers after that had no real benefit beyond a 2nd place in a Group 2, soft ground 6 furlong race at Haydock. This is his second run since gelding and back up to a mile where he is now rated 97 but with a useful 5lb claimer taking off another 5 essentially putting him 10lbs lower than those 2 second places. Well drawn, ground conditions to suit, has shown potential in good races and yard in form.

Pretty effective at 10 furlongs on turf and a decent price to transfer that to the all-weather. Won his only all-weather outing over 8.5 furlongs at Wolverhampton in a decent but lesser grade race in the spring of last year. Yard is in okay form and goes well at the track.
