Castle Quarter won over CD good last May. He only raced on slower ground thereafter until returning from a two-month break at Taunton in March. The ground was softer than described that day and he ran a good race, with a few things not going for him (forced wide and squeezed for room). He could have been closer. The ground will be quicker today and he's back on his last winning mark. This looks like an opportunity for him to get back to winning ways.

Saint Vic showed plenty more on his second run following a year off last time at this course over 3m good 14 days ago. His 3rd-place finish four starts ago at Southwell in November 2024 has since proved to be strong form that has been firmly franked. He had a genuine excuse's on the two runs between then and his last run, so could well be near back to his best now. Last time the trip stretched him, so dropping back to 2m4f today at a track he ran well at last time should see him ban there come the business end of the race, and 6/1 offers good value for the win.

King Of The Story won all three of his last completed starts before having five months off, then returned with a good staying-on effort at Fontwell over 2m 3f (good) three weeks ago. The lightly raced 10-year-old showed he still has plenty of ability and is likely to have benefited from that run. This race lacks much strength in depth, and just a little improvement from that latest run would be enough to see him win here. With only one or two real dangers, he offers some good value for the win at 13/2.

Getaway Glory proved to be a consistent chaser in 2024 before having to take over a year off the track. His four runs since have been uninspiring, yet there were genuine excuses for them (ground/fitness and a hurdles race). He has since had wind surgery and comes back today following a 50-day break. He has gone well fresh before and has a good record at this track. Cheekpieces are reapplied, and his handicap mark has dropped considerably. Should he return to anywhere near his form from 2024 today, then he has strong place claims at least. Double-figure odds offer some each-way value.

Grey Skies, a 10-year-old, was in good form last summer, winning two at this sort of trip on good ground before running respectably at Worcester when third. The two runs that followed were both on slower ground and are forgiven. The grey then had a five-month break before returning to Hereford last time and looked in need of the run. He is back to his last winning mark, and the blinkers go back on. No surprise if he goes from the front today, and in doing so he could catch them out if fully wound up. He has enough going for him to rate the 28/1 as each-way value.

Similar Story ran better than her finishing position suggests last time out over 3m on good ground at Kelso. That was a clear improvement on recent form for the 8-year-old. The previous five starts saw her complete only twice, one from well out of the handicap. She has dropped to a workable mark, 10 lb lower than her last winning one. If she builds on that last run, she has a better chance than the odds suggest in this race.

I Am Spider Man came back to form six days ago on his second run following a three-month break on good ground at Newton Abbot (3m 2f). That backed up his fair effort at Taunton in December (3m, good), with the two runs in between being on much slower ground. With the ground forecast as good again for this, he looks sure to run his race. His wins in Ireland were at Sligo, a sharp right-handed track, so he should get on well here. As the current outsider of the five runners, he looks good value for the win, with a repeat of his recent effort likely to be enough.

Ballygeary joined this yard in July last year and in seven starts has run mainly in hotter events than today's. The two runs in which he showed his best form were over today's sort of trip. He had wind surgery in December and came back in March from 77 days off with a good run at Doncaster. After that he was again pushed up in class and in trip, at Wetherby over 3m, where he struggled to live with the higher-rated horses and the 3m trip. The 9yo is now 7 lb lower than when joining this stable and today is the least competitive race he has had for the yard since joining. There are plenty of signs he will be asked for a big effort today, and if responding well he has previously shown enough ability to win a race of this nature, making him good each-way value at 18/1.

Malangen has been set some tough tasks since finishing 2nd here in August last year and returned from a six-month break a fortnight ago with a below-par performance. However, his career history shows he would very likely have needed that run and will come on for it. He has dropped 7 lb since that August effort, which puts the CD winner back below his last winning mark today. Most of his wins have come over today's trip and on good ground. He likes to go from the front, and there does not look to be much competition for the lead in this today, making him look well placed by connections. 16/1 is value if he is ready to roll this time, and if not he will be next time, so worth taking the long odds today.

School For Scandal does more winning and runs better when the ground is as it is today, good. Since his win at Windsor in November he has been raced on much slower ground up until last time when 3rd at Taunton showing he is in good heart. He is now 4lb lower than for the Windosr win and this race is no tougher than that. Has gone well here before beaten only a short head and everything looks set for him to build on his latest run.

He has won at this trip on good ground and gone close here before and is now well handicapped. He gets plenty of weight from all his rivals today. FRANKIE FAULKNER 6:42 Fontwell ??" Frankie Faulkner ran well in three chases before going over hurdles on heavy ground when last seen in March. After going well for a long way, he was not given a hard time when beaten. He has since switched trainers and been freshened up. He returns to chasing and will have no issue with the ground or trip here. Cheekpieces that were missing last time are reapplied, along with a tongue tie, and Conor Ring takes over in the saddle. The 9yo is on a workable mark and is capable of winning a race like this. 8/1 offers some each-way value.

Prairie Queen has done well on both chase starts so far. They were over slightly further, and it was only towards the end in both that she weakened late. She was put back over hurdles last time, took a keen hold, and went off too hard. She is forgiven for that. Back to fences today, she should be more settled. She tried to make all at this track over hurdles (2m3f, good) in March until getting caught late. There are plenty of signs the drop to 2m today will suit the 6yo, who looks a decent chaser in the making.

Mind Hunter returned from a five-month break over CD a fortnight ago and was backed to go well. Not helped by the last two hurdles being omitted, he finished fourth. He looked as if the run would bring him on. This race on paper is a less competitive event. He has run this track well on the flat and over hurdles and acts on good ground, although a little rain would not inconvenience him. He should be able to better his fourth here last time, and at 10/1 is each-way value.

Seraphic is 2 lb out of the handicap for this, but that is offset by the rider's 5 lb claim. Not beaten far on his last three hurdle starts in spring/summer 2025, all on good ground at around this trip. He has been in good form and progressing on the flat since, with two wins and numerous places, seeing him climb up the flat handicap by 8 lb. Last run was the only blot when he took a keen hold and raced too freely. Only 6 yo and can progress further in this sphere having now had more racing experience. He gets plenty of weight from the principals in this, so should be ridden prominent. Hood goes on and the good ground will aid the cause.

Wicked Thoughts had Always Busy just over 3l behind him when winning at Taunton a month ago. (He gives that rival 2 lb today.) However, that was the best run over fences so far from the 7-yo, and he could have even more to offer today with the quick ground and longer trip looking sure to be to his liking. He has run well at left-handed sharp tracks before, so should not be inconvenienced by this course. A reproduction of his last run will make him hard to beat today.

Rober d'Ores takes a drop in class from his last two runs. Once out of the handicap and then far from disgraced last time when beaten by much higher-rated rivals than he faces today. He has won over CD three times and been 2nd three times and is now back on his last winning mark. He was 15L behind Wee Alki here in November but was not given a hard time when beaten and is 14 lb better off with that rival today. With most of the principals in this needing a career best, the 9yo, who looks sure to run his race (has gone well on good ground before), has a much better chance than his odds suggest.

Right Back At You has had just three starts over fences and showed he was getting the hang of things well last time when only 1L behind a progressive rival over CD 19 days ago on good ground. That was a slightly more competitive race than today's and he only lost second spot right at the line. The 8yo can do better with that experience under his belt. He won't need to come on much to be capable of winning a race like this, and he clearly enjoys the good ground.

Kingofthegame came back from over a year off in January over hurdles at Kelso on heavy ground, running well enough to prove he was sound but looking as if he needed the outing. He upped his game over fences next time on his latest start, 3m Carlisle good, but got outstayed. That run should have him at his peak now. Dropped back to 2m4f today on the same ground looks ideal. He has run well over CD before (on chase debut) off a 6 lb higher mark. Visor goes on and a big effort looks on the cards today.

He came back from a year off 25 days ago and was ridden more mdfield than usual prominent position, he looked in need of the run. His win came on this sort of ground, as was his fair 4th over CD in a very hot maiden that has produced winners since. From a top yard and cheekpieces go on for the first time, with O'Keefe taking over in the saddle. If that recent run has bought him back to his best he could win this. Looks sure to be more asked of him today than last time. The offer of 22/1 makes him good EW value wirth a 5 place payout offered all round.

Indiana Jones' wins have all been at today's trip, one over CD. The 10??'yo has never won beyond 2 miles. Since the back-to-back wins in 2023 he has raced intermittently over hurdles and fences, mostly over 2m4f and 3m, and has had genuine excuses at times. His handicap mark has subsequently dropped significantly. His last run three weeks ago in the Topham showed how much ability he retains. He was bang there two out before getting outstayed by rivals rated higher than anything he faces in this. That run was from out of the handicap, and he was given a peach of a ride by O'Callaghan, who rides again today, claiming 5 lb. He likes to race prominently, and that will be to his advantage in this large field. He gets the ground, and 33/1 generally available offers some good EW value.

Touch Me Not has earned a chase mark of 152 and has not been seen over hurdles since winning in April 2024, so he goes into this on a 17 lb lower mark than his chase form. He jumped hurdles fluently, so should run his race today. The 7-year-old likes to go from the front, and that could prove an advantage in this big field. He has a win here and otherwise good course form. The distance and ground are also ideal for him today. He was set a stiff task under an apprentice last time but has otherwise been in good form this year. Jack Kennedy takes over today, and he is unexposed off this mark over hurdles.

Kocktail Bleu has some proven form at this level and is still progressing. His only runs when not showing his best were on soft over further at Newbury and on heavy 2m at Kelso. His most recent two runs (both good to soft) were 2nd at Kempton and a win at Newbury last time, for which he gets no penalty and showed his true potential. The better ground today can help him progress after he finished 2nd at Kempton on his only run on good to a rival now rated 146. A reproduction of that run gives him strong claims. The stable also runs Cosmic Collection, but the value looks to be with the selection. 11/1 with 5 places paid out.

A Little Something has had just two chase starts and ran into bad luck on both when going well. His penultimate start saw him sprawl on landing being being quickly PU afterwards to be saved for another day. That day looked like it may come on his latest start 25 days ago until he was hampered and spooked by a loose horse at the 11th, he dropped back to last but got right back into contention until tiring late on. That made it his first completed start after 281 days off and he will be fully primed for today.

Star Vantage takes a drop in trip today, and whilst he without doubt has ability, connections have not yet found the key to him. The 9yo ran a big race at Market Rasen over 3m (Class 2) on the penultimate start, before finding 3m3f too far last time. Maggs is back on board today and claims 3 lb. He also has a first-time visor, and all the signs are he will be giving everything in this. A repeat of his Market Rasen run ought to be enough over 2m4f today on ideal good ground.

Gone With The Tide has PU on last three starts all on soft ground. His run before those was on good at Carlise, a testing track over 2m3f where his stamina was lacking to see out the trip. He has tumbled down the weights and returns to better ground today. He went well for a long way last time after 3 months off on soft before he was PU and this is his second run following wind surgery, so back on a quicker surface he should finish his race today and if he can repeat his run when 4th in April around this easier flat track he has every right to be there come the business end of the race. At 40/1 with Bet365 and a 5 place payout there is some good EW value about him to turn things around today.

Mind Hunter went close at this track twice in 2025: over 3m good to soft hurdles when hampered at 2nd last (goes off the same handicap mark today), and then 2m on the flat good (staying on). The hurdles run came following a similar break to the one he has had now, so he does go well fresh. He ran well enough in all but one of his other five starts last year, even without ideal conditions. Today the trip should prove perfect for him and the drying ground ideal. Harry Atkins is booked to ride and takes off 7 lb, so he has very little weight to carry. A combination of his liking for this track, stamina, and flat speed makes him a very serious challenger in this, and at 14/1 can be backed EW.

Whilst finishing 18L behind them, he was not given a hard race and was never really put into it. He certainly looks capable of improvement now after gaining more experience with that run two weeks ago. This is a weaker race and he does well at this venue. He looks good each-way value at 12/1.
