Tiger Orchid, fairly lightly raced 11-year-old, made his stable debut three weeks ago in a 3m1f soft-ground chase at Hereford last time after almost six months off. He should strip fitter today, and the new stable have put him back over hurdles. He has a good record over hurdles, and the stable do well when making the trip to this track (22% strike rate). He's the only one they have taken there today. He is versatile regarding ground and has won 5 and made the first three in 5 more at this trip from 20 attempts. 14/1 is a good each-way price.

Justus has not had much racing since winning on the flat in April 2024 and came back from another long break in December and needed that run. He has since had three starts (a hot-class 3 Leicester, a 3m class 4 Doncaster and, last time, a 2m4f Newcastle), none of which looked like winning opportunities. In his last run he travelled well for a long way until weakening two out. He has fallen 15 lb in the handicap since December and now drops back to 2m in a class 5 on ground that he's run well enough on before. 40/1 looks a very big price and gives each-way value, as we see him asked much more of in this.

Jacks Jury left Alison Thorpe's yard in January when bought by a new owner for 42k. He had one run for the Flint yard before joining the new yard and makes his debut for them today. (Remains in the same ownership.) He has been going mainly over 3m and, whilst travelling strongly, he has not seen out the trip. Last time the heavy ground and trip took their toll after he was appearing to be going best 3 out. Dropped in trip on less testing ground and off a good mark, he has a better chance today than the odds suggest. First time cheek pieces go on and the rider's 3 lb claim will help. Could well go out and try to make all. 20/1 plus is too big to ignore EW.

Sunday Soldier had a fall three out in the race she had been targeted for at Cheltenham in December. (Going well enough at the time.) She then had a confidence booster back over hurdles before running third in a Listed mares event at Wincanton last time. That was just her fifth chase start and was a top effort against 130+ rated horses. She has proven she gets this trip well over the hurdles, and there looks to be more to come in this sphere. EW at 12/1 is very good value.

Fuji Flight has tumbled down the weights and returned from a layoff three starts ago at Huntingdon on good ground, doing enough to show his well-being. The penultimate start was over a marathon 3m6f at Exeter, and he showed up well for a very long way until tiring late on. He made a bad mistake at the first last time out and was never put into it after that. Blinkers go on for the first time to help prevent the tendency to jump left. Returning to a left-handed galloping track today is another positive after the last three at right-handed courses. He deserves another chance off this mark. 20/1 or bigger makes the odds worth the gamble that he returns to near his best, which would be good enough to win.

He is reportedly in very good order and remains unexposed at today's trip. Kept fresh for this race, the 6yo will appreciate the forecast rain. There looks to be more to come from him. His price offers good each-way value at 16/1. Have been looking forward to this more than any other Cheltenham bet this week. Take No Chances, 8yo, has shown some slight improvement from previous form in all of his last three starts. He has gone well here before. Whilst he has something to find against Wodhooh (2nd) when he was 3rd behind Lossiemouth at Aintree last year, he is weighted to reverse form with that rival based on the race here in December 2024. Quebecois, a 7-year-old for Paul Nicholls, has run four times this season, finishing second on three occasions. He has the right sort of profile for this race. His best hurdle performance came over 3m at Ayr last season. Eleven of the last 12 winners had a previous run at Cheltenham. Quebecois has run good races at Cheltenham twice, once finishing third over hurdles last season in a Grade Two and finishing well. He will race handy, which is key in chases on the Old Course at Cheltenham, and will definitely be involved at the business end. Nicholls targeted Caldwell Potter last year in the Plate, and this looks like a similar plot for the longer race where UK trainers excel. 10/1 looks a good price.

Nobody Told Me has progressed very slightly over the last three starts without having optimum conditions and is now 15 lb lower than his opening handicap mark in May 2024 when fourth at Stratford. A repeat of that run off today's weights and he can win. On his latest start on soft ground 14 days ago, three of the horses in front of him were higher rated than any of today's opponents. The ground should prove ideal today, and Tabitha Worsley, who rode him two starts ago and got to know him, claims another 3 lb off the weights. His two best pieces of form from those runs are good enough to see him go close in this. They were both at 2m on ground he likes. They were both flat, galloping tracks, similar to today's. Proven to stay the trip, will act on the ground and has completed this course well before. He is now on an 11 lb lower mark than when he last won. Tipped last time when he PU at the last, very tired on heavy ground; that was just six days ago. The yard has horses running well, and as he has been bought out again so quickly, it's unlikely there are any serious issues. He is the sort that could win well today or end up PU. 11/1 on offer makes the win bet worth a go (rather than EW) with so much in his favour condition-wise.

Lagonda won here last Feb on soft, drying ground over 3m off just 2 lb lower than today's mark. The lightly raced 11yo enjoyed the track and shaped that day as if further would suit. She followed that with two more good runs, finishing 2nd on both occasions: once on soft that was verging on heavy, and then on good. She has had two runs since returning to action in November; the latest start was 67 days ago. There were plenty of signs of a return to form. With the stable now firing after a long spell in the doldrums, she has the drying ground again and a longer trip. Very capable of at least making the frame in this.

Bright Legend looks sure to run better than last time, when on bottomless ground here over 2m four weeks ago. The longer trip today and better ground can bring out the best in the 6yo. His run three starts ago at Fontwell showed how much ability he has, and a reproduction of that effort here, off a whopping 12 lb lower mark, should see him bang there come the business end of the race today.

El Jefe has proved he acts on soft and heavy ground in his last few starts and has run well over CD in his last two runs here. He was behind Diamond Geezer and Eloi du Puy here on the penultimate start, and the race was run at a slow pace. He travelled strongly but did not cope with the sprint finish. With Lights Go Down likely to set a faster tempo this time (and is a danger), it will help El Jefe, along with the weight he gets, in reversing the form with those two rivals, and the rider gets his 3 lb claim today. 18/1 offers some fair each-way value.

Minella Kaiser has shown his well-being after returning from a near 300-day layoff with two thirds and a second last time. The two most recent starts were over fences, and he would have learned plenty from the experience. He put in a couple of awkward jumps in both those runs and should now show the hurdles he is returning to a bit more respect. Proven to handle the ground, course, and trip well on his latest showing, the lightly raced 7-year-old is capable enough to win a hurdle race before going back to fences. This looks like an opportunity to do so. With very few live dangers in the field, 3/1 or better offers value for the win.

Col du Pré, ex-French winner on soft, ran his best race since joining this yard four weeks ago in a Class 3 at Hereford (2m, soft). That offers some of the best recent form in this field and he has the most potential to come on from his latest start. He stayed on last time, so the uphill finish here and the extra furlong should play to his strengths. Down in class and Ned Fox claims 3 lb. A good winning opportunity, and anything above 7/2 offers some value.

On The Go won over CD in November by 10l, and the ground, officially good, had been well softened by the rain at the off, giving confidence he will act on this surface today. His run last time was over 3m after more than two months off, and he should appreciate the drop back in trip today along with the return to a sharper track. He appears better suited by today's race conditions than any rivals and offers some value for the win at 5/1 or bigger.
