Last time at right-handed Exeter as 15/8 favourite he made a bad mistake at the seventh and lost all momentum, blundered at the eighth and dropped away. He has to be worth another chance at this trip, back on soft ground at a course that suits.

He went well here over CD for a long way last time before tiring in a Class 3; that was following wind surgery, and he should come on for that and be asked more of. He's on a 5 lb lower mark than last year's race and gets another 10 lb removed by the rider. If fully wound up for today, he could well make a bold bid from the front and has every chance of hanging on if at his best. 18/1 offers some good each-way value with a 4-place payout.

Stopherandgo has shown good ability over hurdles and has won here over 2m on good to soft. Her best other runs in this sphere were on soft and heavy, so she should have no issues with the ground. Point form strongly suggests that this trip will be right for her. Recent form was PU in the last two, and they were both chases; she has never taken to fences. The two hurdle runs prior to the PUs both followed a break and came on good ground. Now on a very good mark considering her best form, returned here, back to hurdles and upped in trip on ground that suits the 9yo, she offers some very good each-way value in a race that lacks strength in depth. With the yard in top form, the 40/1 available looks a good value price for him to return to his best back here, up in trip and cheekpieces swapped for blinkers.

West To The Bridge is now 13yo and 9 of his 10 wins were gained on soft, the other heavy. He has a C&D win to his name and finished 3rd here twice from 6 starts. Since his win at Wetherby in March last year over 2m3f on soft, he has only run on soft once. That was under an amateur rider in a Class 2 at Bangor on his penultimate start. He ran a good race last time at Ludlow when High Tea (today's likely fave) fell two out when challenging. Hard to say how it would have played out, but Skelton takes over in the saddle today and he's 5 lb below his last winning mark. Looks sure to run his race today and that could well be enough. 16/1 EW offers some value if the old boy turns it on one more time.
