That narrows things down and moves the percentage into our favour. Perry Mason (stall 9) has Paul Mulrennan engaged for his first run in a handicap and may improve beyond the allocated mark. Shimmering Sands (stall 8) would be my danger.

First time in a handicap with two reasonable runs over today's distance followed by a qualifying run over shorter where little was revealed. Suspect this may be the day to catch Invincible Ruby who comes from the astute Iain jardine stable, with promising young Mohammed Tabti in the saddle.

High draws have quite a good record over this distance at Salisbury. Both Patsy Snugfit and Schemaya have made all on recent outings so there may be a rush to the front from these outside draws. Patsy Snugfit has a recent course and distance victory and is up rather less in the weights for that win. Schemaya may be better over further so the percentage call is Patsy.

The two most backed horses here will probably be the pair that have journeyed up from Berkshire hoping to find easier pickings in Scotland. Think they can be taken on with a well bred newcomer, the Kodiac filly, Impalaka, who should offer a value price. The grand sire, Monsieur Bond, ticks boxes for going on the soft side of good and there is a bit of rain around at present so the surface may have some give.
