Bel Espoir had her three runs in maidens, barely beat a rival, hence her huge odds. But her latest start offered some hope for the future. Although only beating a couple home, she was slowly away but soon made up the ground and not surprisingly weakened at the finish, under an inexperienced rider. A couple of winners have come out of that maiden, including one big-priced winner we bagged earlier this month. Makes her handicap and AW debut, off a lowly mark, with a more experienced claimer in the saddle. Needs to improve, but the signs are she could and looks worth the risk at the price on offer.
