An open looking race but I have a sneaky suspicion that LA BOTTE trainer may have had this in mind for selections since start of season.Eutace has placed second in last 2 runnings of this event so should have a good idea of what it takes to be competitive. Selection ran well here when despite losing many lengths in argy bargy during race he finished a close second First outing this year was a very promising 4th looking in need of outing ,last race can easily be forgiven as ground proved totally unsuitable. Big ew player

STRIKE RED is a blot on this handicap if anywhere near his best having finished second in this race last year off 12 lb higher. He has multiple other good efforts to his name. His form tailed off towards end of season last year but a third place on return this year showed he was on the way back. He looks a rock solid ew punt

Olly murphy has the favorite here on a track where he has a fantastic record, he also trains the winner of this last year WA WA who is favourably treated with his 5lb claimer on board.selection is 11 yrs old but I wouldn't let that put me off as sometimes returning to c&d winning venues gives these types a boost. 18/1 seems to good to pass by

A bumper and hurdles winner CLAIM DU BRIZLAS has been patiently brought along over fences by the Skeltons. He has not been hard ridden in any of his outings in this sphere even though he was only beaten 3 lengths in latest run. I think Harry will be more forceful today and will look for a confidence boosting win to end the season

Backing a horse that was priced up at 580/1 on betting exchange last time out would probably look like madness to some but STARLYTE was contesting at listed race and finished 4th having made up ground late on. This is obviously much easier so as a 3 time winner last season it's possible he is coming back into form and we'll worth an ew shout in a winnable vontest

Having won a couple of hcaps in September KOSOMETSUKE finished 4th in hat trick bid off this mark, he has since been sold for 33,000 and moved to martindodds yard. The change of scenery could have an uplifting effect and on stable debut he has been supported

An open race but if got enough I think the Richard Hannon trained LIMWOOD would have an excellent chance here, he was largely progressive last season before opening his account on third hcap start in November with a smooth win in an ascot race that has worked out well with the second scoring on a good race next time out

Jack channons URBAN LION was second in this race last year and is only 4 lbs higher. I'd say he improved a lot more than that in subsequent races and looks a fair price to run a big race

I'm going to go out on a limb here but I think MAYBE SOON could be a big improver on handicap debut . Often with these types they don't show a lot in hcap qualifying races but she looked a fair sort in first outing and although well down the field on latest she did look to have more in the tank at the end so this extra furlong will be a plus.

I am drawn to UPPERCASE here at a money-back ew price. He has a nice profile and ran an excellent second on only outing here where the winner that day won next 2 outings. Trainer has a habit of readying his horses for seasonal debuts so I'm not worried about that

BETTER TIMES AHEAD has been favorite of mine for years and I always thought he would progress with age which he has and had a big race in him. The fact that he has been aimed at this race is a big positive despite his heavy burden to carry. Claimer takes off a handy 7lb which could make all the difference and he should improve on last year's 6th place in this race
