21:00 Martin Schindler vs Brendan Dolan

Martin Schindler

With the crowd behind him, Schindler should win. Dolan is a well-established player but has been in poor form for a while now. He came through a decider against Dekker last round, averaging only 79.55, and was very lucky the Norwegian missed 15/18 doubles. Schindler hasn't had his best season but should be able to step it up here against a player whom he beat in their last four encounters.

I feel like Doets is the favorite here. Wade has been knocked out in his first games on the Euro Tour so far. It even looked that bad that I was thinking he's just turning up to grab some cash and do some sightseeing. His run at Ally Pally was very disappointing, but he still is a big-stage player. He reached the final of the UK Open, but was knocked out by Reyes at the ET event just two weeks after. He also lost to Menzies 6-0 in Poland, and with Doets he meets another tricky opponent. The Dutchman has been one of the best players on the floor this season, recording a 96.46 average, which puts him between his two fellow young Dutchmen Nijman and Van Veen in terms of averages (in eighth place). Meanwhile, Wade is 39 places lower with a 92.23 average. Wade is a better player on the big stage but hasn't been performing on the ET. It's time for Doets to step up and start beating top players to gain some confidence on stages. I feel like this could be the start of something big if Doets starts winning here.

As a Belgian I'm maybe biased, but just like De Decker, I think Huybrechts will go out here. He played well against Wright, averaging 93.46 and scoring four 180s. But his lack of consistency is still a big problem. That's exactly Woodhouse's strength: his consistency. He has won all of his first-round games so far on the ET and has really developed into a sub-top player. Of course Huybrechts can beat him; he did so before. But the chances of him playing his best darts, good enough to beat Woodhouse, are rather slim. I think any odds over 1.60 are a good bet here.

Even though De Decker showed some signs of playing his best darts again, he still lost his first games on the ET. That includes one on home turf against Zonneveld. He lost his two encounters against Van Duijvenbode, who is also still looking for his best form. The Dutchman was one of the top players for some time before his back injury started to get the better of him. He beat Burton last round, and based on recent form he should be able to beat the Belgian here as well. If you look at their form over the course of the season, Van Duijvenbode is averaging around the 97 mark at the Players Championship events, just like last year. De Decker, though, averaged 95 last year and now is averaging just over 91, which shows his dip in form.

Just about enough value with Ratajski here, who actually won 3 of his last 4 games against Searle. The latest was a 10-5 win at the UK Open, where the Polish Eagle had a great run. He averaged 91.52 in his first-round game against Lovely yesterday and is well capable of giving anyone a tough game. Searle had a fantastic run at Ally Pally but couldn't replicate that on the big stage this season. As said, he was stopped by Ratajski at the UK Open and also lost in the first round to Cross at the Masters. He won one of the most recent floor tournaments and will be confident, but on stage it's very much hit or miss with him. If Searle plays his A-game, as he did at the World Championship, Ratajski will struggle. But if he doesn't, the Pole should be able to at least keep him very close. Odds of 2.20 or higher are value here, in my opinion.

Sedlacek did well, beating Menzies in a tight game 6-4, coming from 4-3 behind and averaging 91.18. On the bigger stage he usually struggles to get over the line. Here, he managed to win three legs in a row for the comeback. Against a heavy scorer like Heta, that might happen again today. Heta had a pretty poor season last year and has been performing very inconsistently again this season. He had a semi-final run at the second ET event, one week before being knocked out in his first game against Gurney, averaging just 80.91. That kind of performance he cannot afford here against the Czech, who will have built some confidence. Sedlacek also won their last two meetings, which were on the floor though. At these odds I'm willing to take the risk. If Heta doesn't throw his best darts, Sedlacek will take his chances.

In his last ET appearance he lost his first-round game against Mansell, but Smith has been working his way back to the top after injuries and a lack of confidence. He is still a solid player and shouldn't be this big of an underdog here. Hurrell did have an impressive run at the World Championship and has been solid so far this season as well. But this is the first ET event he qualified for, and I don't think his form is as good as at the Worlds.

Troppmann doesn't have a tour card but managed to qualify for this tournament. In front of a home crowd, I feel he has a chance. The German often averaged below 80 but sometimes also scores heavily and records 95+ averages on the Challenge Tour. Either way, Edhouse's confidence won't be high. He had some good runs at the start of the season at Players Championship events, but on the stage he hasn't won a single game since September last year (against Nijman). He didn't even come close to winning his games at the Players Championship Finals, World Championship, or The Masters. Also, his UK Open and first ET event runs ended in the first round. On a good day, the German amateur has a chance here.

On the Players Championship Tour, Sedlá?ek has been averaging about five points more than Menzies, which is a significant difference. Both players aren't in great form, despite throwing good games from time to time. After his breakdown at the Ally Pally stage, where he injured his hand, a turbulent love life, and heart problems, the flamboyant Scott seemed to be finding some form again. Against Sedlá?ek he lost their last two games, though, and I give a slight edge to the Czech. Any odds over 2.00 are value in my opinion.

Both players have been showing some form recently, but especially O'Connor remains a very inconsistent player. In recent Players Championship events the Polish youngster reached the semi-finals, and at the last ET event two weeks ago he even managed to beat Dutch sub-top player Nijman. O'Connor has scored heavily at times, but didn't record such good runs. Over the course of the season, it's Bialecki who has been averaging higher numbers.

Both players averaged just under the 100 mark in their games here in Wieze. Van Gerwen is struggling, though??"he is not the player to beat anymore and has not been performing that well in the Premier League either. Also, personal problems will have affected his play. Gurney is slowly on his way back to being a sub-top player. His loss to Cross at the UK Open was a disappointment; he averaged only 85. But he won two of the last three encounters with the Green Machine and seems to be in great form here in Belgium. Anything over 3.20 is value, in my opinion.

With Cullen and Bunting, Baetens beat two top but also inconsistent players. Cullen played well, but Baetens did the right things at the right time. He played much worse against Bunting, but The Bullet has been in a bit of a dip in form lately. Schindler also hasn't had a great season so far, with a whitewash loss at the Masters, no great runs at Players Championship events, and yesterday's win being his first at the ET. The German played well, though, in that win over O'Connor and arguably is the better player here. But with the crowd behind him, I think The Beast has a chance to advance.

Clayton had a clear edge here for me. He has been very solid in the Premier League, had a good run at the UK Open, and averaged close to a ton to beat Bialecki last round. I picked Menzies to beat Smith last round, and it got pretty close. Smith won 6-4, averaging just over 90. I feel like he hasn't been in great form after his disappointing early exit at Ally Pally. This is the perfect time for Huybrechts to meet Rock here in his home country with the crowd behind him. Rock has had a horrible start to the Premier League, which led to an abysmal 6-0 loss to Price with an average of 84 last Thursday. This might affect his overall form, and Huybrechts will be fired up playing at home. The Belgian played great in his 6-3 win over Springer, averaging just shy of 102.

Bunting beat Baetens in their two previous meetings and had a great start to the season after a disappointing World Championship. He played well in the Premier League and Players Championship events. He hasn't played as well lately, though, and I feel like with the support of the crowd the Belgian has a bigger chance here than these odds suggest.

Wattimena has shown some amazing form at times last year and also played well in Ally Pally. But early exits at the UK Open and ET last week raise some concerns. However, Meikle isn't in great form either, and his 85 average in his win against local qualifier (and respected BDO player) Schweyen didn't convince me. On top of that, Wattimena has so far won all six of their meetings, and none of them went the distance.

Ross seems to still struggle with his form a bit lately. His surprising early exit at the World Championship seemed to be washed away quickly, as he played well on the floor at the start of the season. He was unlucky to meet Littler at the Masters and a previous ET event, but was also knocked out early in the UK Open, for example. Menzies had a rough time mentally as well as physically but still seems to be evolving into a more consistent darts player. He's not a player of the high averages but can trouble sub-top players. Smith is such a player, and with Menzies having won their two meetings last year, I feel there is some value with the Scot here.

Even though Lap isn't a bad player, having averaged over 100 in a couple of games this season, he lacks the consistency to be worthy of a bet. That is the thing Menzies has been improving on. On stages he has been consistently putting in around 95 averages. Lap beat Hopp and Scutt to get here, and if he is in form he could well beat Menzies. But it could just as well go the other way, with Menzies winning by a margin. I think the latter is more probable, but you could take a bet on both.

The young Czech played well at the Poland Open with a win over Van Duijvenbode and a close loss to Clayton. He also won the last two encounters with Joyce. Joyce is usually a tough player to beat, but I think Gawlas has a good chance here.
