Saint Bibiana just failed by a hd, coceding 12lbs to the winner, when getting caught on the line over 3m 2f 105yds at Newton Abbot yesterday. Trainer Gina Nicholls wouldn't run her today if she hadn't come out of the race ok and had eaten up this morning. She jumped well yesterday, had them all at it from the front and didn't really do a lot wrong It's a furlong shorter trip today, plus she has won over this c&d and she won't mind the soft ground. I think she got robbed yesterday and can make amends here today.

If he jumps like he did at Stratford 2 runs ago in a cl4 novice where the winner has franked the form since off 97, he should go close off 85 in this company. Evan has been pleased with his work at home, reporting that his schooling has been excellent and the recent sun on his back has brought him forward again. The 2m 1f 61y trip will suit as HBB will hopefully be staying on at the end of the long, long run in.

At the time of writing 17 runners go to post for this cl2 Handicap Hurdle worth over 31k to the winner. A chance is taken on Rewired from the Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole yard, who's early odds of 40/1 have long gone but is still available at 22/1 and may drift back out a little. Any hoo his form isnt that bad. He won a cl4 h/cap off a mark of 115 after returning from 277 days off, followed up with another cl4 win off 120, p/up off 127 on his penultimate start but that was in a slowly run race which didnt suit, his last run was a creditable 6/19 btn 5l off 127 in a cl2 h/cap at Aintree back in April. Dropped to 126 with Young Luke Scott once again in the saddle and has an excellent record on board of 4 wins and 2 places from 9 runs, plus he takes his usual 5lbs allowance off to aid the cause. Rewired is still just a 6yo and I think there is more to come in this sphere, especially imo he is ridden closer to the pace.

This looks a quality renewal of the Grp1 July Cup Stakes with 12 declared to run over 6f. Vandeek blotted his copy book after 4 wins as a 2yo, when 3/7 on his seasonal debut btn 4l to the reopposing Inisherin in Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock 4 days ago. The Simon & Ed Crisford's stable had been over a cloud, plus Vandeek missed Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot with abnormal blood count. The stable is back with a bang and is on a 38.46% strike rate in the last 14 days. I dont know for sure that Vandeek has trained on as a 3yo but if retains some of his 2yo class then he should be in with a very good chance.

The Charlie Johnston trained 3yo Harry Angel filly Arisaig didnt disgrace lto with Jamie Spencer in the saddle when 8/30 in the cl2 Sandringham Stakes Fillies H/cap at Ascot, considering she raced on the wrong side, was hampered, yet still finished ahead of 4 horses she reopposes here. Neil Callan is back in the saddle and she drops back to 7f where she is 2 from 3 and she can race off the same mark of 89 which should give her every chance.

The Michael Dods trained Brunch has a good record here at York with a win over c&d and over 7f. He finished 2nd in this race in 2021 btn a hd off a mark of 101, then 2nd again in 2022 btn a nck off 104. He gets in here off just 92 and if any where near to his best he is weighted to go close. He will probably be held up and make his move around the 2f pole and fingers crossed that it is a winning one.
