Looked really promising two runs back when cruising to victory despite still running green. Last time he really underperformed, but he hated the heavy ground and was looked after when it was obvious he wasn't enjoying things. Back on quick ground and from a stable who won the bumper earlier in the week.

Has form with the best chasers in Ireland. It looks like this is the plan this year: just three runs and no Cheltenham. This guy has been staying on over 3m, and he jumps really well. His form ties in really well with Grangeclare West, who is vying for favoritism, and he gets 7 lb from that rival this afternoon. Drying ground shouldn't be an issue. He can go well at a double-figure price.

If this guy hadn't run at Cheltenham, he'd be half the price for this. You can simply put a line through that run. The start was a farce and he got shuffled back. Cobden gave up, saving him for another day. That day has come. The step up in trip will suit, and he can get his career back on track.

Two 10-year-old previous race winners here. Whilst last year's winner looks to hold a great chance, I'm going to go for 2023's winner. Only 3 lb higher than when winning that day. He's had two tries over the fences since. He unseated at the chair in 2024, then earlier this year he ran a cracker behind Twig in the Becher, not getting home over 3m 2f on soft, off 3 lb higher than today. Down in trip, better ground, 3 lb lighter ??" he'll do for me at a massive price.

Heartwood is favorite on the back of winning the worst Ryanair in living memory, so I have to take him on. This time last year Grey Dawning ran a cracker in the Bowl behind Gaelic Warrior (remember him) when he was outstayed. He ran a good race in the Gold Cup without quite getting up the hill. This drop in trip looks ideal and Skelton picks him over the other stable runner.

I think this guy should be favorite. He ran a cracker in the Browns, coming from behind when nothing was winning off the pace. He had Wendigo cooked that day. He's already beaten Doyen Quest twice. The favorite was only thought good enough to run in a handicap at Cheltenham, and he couldn't win that.

Off since, but he always goes well fresh. Claimer takes off a useful 3 lb, and the step up in trip should suit.

You don't have to go too far into this guy's form to find efforts that would see him go close in a race of this nature. He won a Grade 3 less than 12 months ago, beating Blood Destiny by 2 lengths. That horse was second to Energumene last week at Fairyhouse. In November he was third in a Grade 2 behind Found A Fifty and Dino Blue. Now, with Mulholland and a couple of quiet runs, it would be no surprise to see a better effort at a massive price this afternoon.

Every chance he would have beaten The New Lion and BDH at Cheltenham but for a blunder at the last. At 6 yo he should still be improving. Although his best results have come at 2m, he did win over 2m 3f early in his career and shows no obvious reason why he won't stay. Looks overpriced at 8s.

His last win came off 81, and today he runs off the same mark, but a good claimer takes off 5 lb, giving an effective mark of 76. A nice low draw in 4 and drying ground should suit. 12/1 at the time of writing. I'll be amazed if he's not single figures come race time.

A course-and-distance winner at the track on this type of ground. Ran a cracker in the Thyestes and has been kept for this, judging by him missing Cheltenham and having a run over hurdles to preserve his chase mark. Walsh rides another JP horse, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see JP go in with one of his others. Torrens has ridden him to victory in the past. Looks a lively outsider at around 20s.

Was highly tried as a juvenile and has two nice pieces of form here. He was 3rd in a Grade 2 juvenile, beaten less than 10 lengths. First time up this year, after six months off, he finished second to a horse who subsequently was rated 140. Admittedly that horse was receiving weight from 117, but it was still a good effort in the context of this race. Now rated 113 but effectively 106 with the claimer taking off 7 lb. He's still to prove he 100% gets this trip, but on this type of ground he'll have as good a chance as he's likely to get. Could be a player at around 12/1.

I'm hoping a return to good ground might be the key for this one. Last two wins came on good ground around this time last year off marks of 110 and 117. A claimer takes off 5 lb today, giving him an effective mark of 115. He has still to win over this trip but was a close second first time up this year over it on heavy ground, so he should have no issues on the less taxing ground today. Lightly raced 4yo who was thought good enough to run in the Group 1 Futurity here as a 2yo. He probably found that 1m on soft ground stretched him a little that day. He's had three runs since and has had excuses in all three. Two runs in Meydan since being gelded have produced two solid performances: the first after almost 250 days off, and the second despite being drawn and pushed wide. Both saw him beaten by less than 3L. Running off an effective 93 today puts him in with a cracking chance at a double-figure price.

The third horse that day was rated 83, and he beat that by 10L. His main rival today just beat a now 80-rated horse, so he should be at a similar level. This looks a certainty, as the price suggests.
