Has never got his head in front here but has a string of solid efforts at this course, including being beaten just over 2L in a Group 3 around this time last year. He's been dropping in grade this season and now runs off a double-figure mark for only the second time in ages. Good to soft is fine, but any more easing in the ground will only help his chances.

This one was knocking on the door in class 2 events off marks in the mid-90s last summer. Two wins at the start of this year showed he'd retained plenty of ability. Ran a solid race at Newmarket off 4lb higher, came back to that venue after a short break last month, and was in the process of running a nice race when getting smashed up, at which point his race was over. Now just 1lb higher than last winning mark, Cox back in the saddle, he just looks way too big at 40's.
