It was a very competitive handicap that EVENWOOD SON OF A GUN found himself in last time out, so I'm happy to draw a line through that. The run before that was over shorter than he prefers. Watching back the Perth fall, that was just down to bad luck, as the horse in front fell too. So we are now back to the preferred class and trip, from a workable mark too. Big price if everything clicks.

Tracker issue stopped suddenly last time out, which meant he was unable to build on a positive-looking run the start before that. I'm prepared to forgive that showing, and he's considered if returning to the sort of form demonstrated in that display. Likely to be dropped just behind the pace-setters and could have the kick to finish from this mark.

Ran well in a classified event on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton last time out, so could get involved if kicking on from that. Struggled in handicaps of late, but there's plenty at shorter prices that I don't think have as much going for them as this one.
