Avalanche

When you land a winning cluster, the Avalanche feature comes into play: winning symbols explode with non-winning symbols of the same type also removed from the grid. After a win, a Wild symbol is generated in 1 of the empty spaces before new symbols drop in. A new winning cluster will see more avalanches.

At the start of each spin, every symbol has a block behind it: blocks are destroyed by winning cluster symbols, Bonus and Extra Spin symbols. Blocks behind removed non-winning matching symbols will not be destroyed though.

Coin Cluster

Look out for Coin symbols which are worth between 1 and 500 x your total bet. When 5 or more Coin symbols form a cluster, the multiplier values on the Coins in the cluster are combined and multiplied by the bet.

When the win has been awarded, the cluster explodes with a new Coin with the total combined multiplier value of the Coin Cluster generated in 1 of the empty spaces before new symbols drop in. Unlike standard symbols, Coin Clusters will not generate a Wild symbol.

Collect Meter

You’ll notice a Collect Meter in both the base game and free spins. Each symbol explosion progresses the Collect Meter by 1 step.

After 30 exploded symbols, the Collect Meter feature is activated, randomly adding Coins and Wilds to the grid and increasing the win multiplier by 1. The Collect Meter value then reduces by 30.

When the meter reaches 60, the Overcharge feature is triggered: this awards more Coins and Wilds than the normal Collect Meter feature. Then the meter value reduced by 60. In the base game, the Collect Meter resets are each spin.

Now, look out for the Charge symbol as this adds 5 charges to the Collect Meter, before transforming into a randomly-chosen symbol.

Multiplier Boost

Randomly at the beginning of each new spin, the Multiplier Boost feature can activate: once active, the Collect Meter fills to 30 or 60 charges. The progressive win multiplier increases by a random number before the Collect Meter or Overcharge feature triggers.

Treasure Chests

1 or more Treasure Chests are randomly hidden behind the grid. Each time symbols form part of a cluster win explode, the underlying blocks are removed: Treasure Chests are unlocked once they have been completely uncovered: Treasure Chests can contain power-ups:

• Earth Mask: adds 7-20 charges to the Collect Meter
• Fire Mask: adds 1-3 to the progressive win multiplier
• Water Mask: adds 2-5 Wild symbols to the grid
• Lightning Mask: adds 3-5 Coins to the grid
• Bonus Scatter: adds 1 Bonus Scatter to the Bonus Collect Meter (only in the base game)
• +1 Spin: adds 1 extra free spin during the Free Spins Bonus/Super Free Spins Bonus feature

Free Spins Bonus

The Free Spins Bonus feature is triggered by collecting 3 Bonus Scatters: when a Bonus symbol lands on the grid during base game spins, it explodes and is added to the Bonus Collect Meter.

With 8 free spins awarded, removed underlying blocks are carried over between free spins. When all Treasure Chests have been unlocked, the symbol grid resets with new blocks and new Treasure Chests are hidden.

Importantly, the Collect Meter progress and progressive win multiplier will not reset throughout the feature. If you see the Extra Spin symbol, 1 additional free spin is awarded. If you see the Super Bonus Upgrade symbol, you’ll be upgraded to the Super Free Spins Bonus feature with 2 extra free spins.

Super Free Spins Bonus

The Super Free Spins Bonus feature is played by landing 4 Bonus Scatter symbols. With 8 free spins awarded, remaining Coin symbols accumulate at the bottom of the grid after each free spin: this creates possibilities for new winning clusters until the end of the feature. Combining the Coin Cluster feature from Coin Quest 2 and various elements from Lucy Luck and the Crimson Diamond, this latest release is also played on a 6x6 grid but with Cluster Pays instead of Scatter Pays. Graphically superb, I love how the soundtrack intensifies as you work your way through the various features and mechanics.

In terms of the gameplay, filling the Collect Meter sees Coins and Wilds added to the grid with an overcharge adding even more. There is a random Multiplier Boost which helps you fill the Collect Meter by a random amount. However, the Treasure Chests play a huge part in landing big payouts as they can charge the Collect Meter, increase the progressive win multiplier, add wilds and coins as well as help you trigger the free spins or award more free spins.

Then you have the free spins where removed underlying blocks are carried over, making it easier to benefit from Treasure Chest modifiers. With the Collect Meter and win multiplier not resetting, the ‘Super’ version sees Coins collected at the bottom of the grid which can lead to more Coin Clusters.
