Gods Go Pew Pew Expert Review
Theme, Audio + Symbols

With a Greek mythology theme, the Gods Go Pew Pew slot is 4th release by Sneaky Slots. The game focuses on Anubis (the jackal-headed god) and Thanatos (the Greek god of death) colliding with the Earth shuddering beneath them. With both battling it out to be the only god in the afterlife, it’s about an eternal war that has commenced at the beginning of time.
Dark and mysterious, I thought I was playing a slot game from Hacksaw Gaming when I fired it up. With black and grey tones dominating the colour scheme, the soundtrack is rather gentle for a game based on the afterlife.
On the reels, you’ll see spade, clubs, diamonds and hearts as the low-value symbols: all pay up to 5 x bet for 5 in combination. Then you have 3 scary-looking characters and Cerberus (the 3-headed hound): Cerberus is the best paying symbol, awarding 26 x your total bet for 5 across any payline.
Gods Go Pew Pew has a number of special symbols: first up is the Bone Wild, which substitutes for all paying symbols to award the best possible winning combination. Other symbols include the 2 Gods, the Hourglass and Golden Hourglass and the xZone: more on these below.

Bonus Features
The Gods Go Pew Pew slot comes with transforming God symbols that award split symbols and symbol upgrades. With an xZone symbol that applies a multiplier to surrounding symbols, you choose from Dead Spins or Lazer Tag in the Death Spins: they offer Skull multipliers which a higher chance of God symbols landing and a air hockey-style game where lazers fly around to increase multipliers on the side of the reels.
God Symbols
Look out out for Anubis and Thanatos God symbols: they each transform into a Bone Wild when landing on the reels. If both God symbols land, a fight occurs with the winner activating the corresponding bonus feature: Split or Swap.
When the 2 God symbols are diagonally, horizontally or vertically adjacent to each other, paying symbols between them will transform into a Bone Wild.
- Split: If Thanatos wins the fight, he splits a random number of symbols into 2. If the symbols contain multipliers, the multiplier value is doubled.
- Swap: If Anubis wins the fight, he marks 1 or more symbol types and upgrades them to a higher-paying symbol. However, the highest-value symbol won’t be chosen.
xZone

Using the xZone mechanic from sister company Nolimit City, the xZone symbol can appear on the middle 3 reels. When the xZone lands, it adds a multiplier between 2x and 50x to all symbols around it. The same multiplier is applied to all symbols with only paying symbols receiving a multiplier. If multiple multipliers apply, their values are added together and then applied.
Death Games

The Death Games is triggered by landing 3 Hourglass symbols in the base game. You then choose from the Dead Spins or Lazer Tag features. If you land 3 Hourglass symbols alongside a Golden Hourglass symbol, you’ll trigger the Super Death Games with the choice of the Super Dead Spins or Super Lazer Tag features.
Dead Spins
The Dead Spins feature begins with 7 free spins: there is an active Skull Multiplier and a higher chance of landing God symbols. If you land 1 Golden Hourglass during the feature, you’ll win 3 more free spins and play the Super Dead Spins feature.
Every symbol that is transformed by God symbols increases a multiplier that applies on current wins during the Dead Spins feature. The accumulated multiplier, known as the Skull Multiplier, doesn’t reset until the end of each free spin.
In the Super Dead Spins feature, you also get 7 free spins. However, you play with an active Skull Multiplier that doesn’t reset on each free spin as well as an increased frequency of God symbols.
Lazer Tag

If you choose the Lazer Tag feature, 1 God goes above the reels with the other remaining below. On every free spin, they shoot 1 lazer towards the other god with the aim to hit him. On the side of the reels, there are multipliers that increase each time a lazer hits them.
Beginning with a 1x multiplier, lazers increase the value of the multipliers on the side of the reels by 1 when hit. For each gate the lazers pass through, the multipliers that are hit increase by an extra 1.
1 Skull symbol appears on a random position on every free spin: it then moves left or right until it reaches the last reel. It then turns around the heads the other way. Each God lazer activates 1 of the Skull Eyes: when both are active, the skull doubles all accumulated multipliers when all lazers vanish. The Skull Multipliers can collect multiple lazers from the same type and 1 or more activations at the of the free spins.
The feature ends when either God takes 7 hits: all accumulated multipliers are added up and awarded as your times bet prize.
Look out for the Golden Hourglass as they instantly award all visible multipliers, set the multiplier values to 5, reset the hits the Gods can take to 7 and upgrades the feature to the ‘Super’ version.
In the Super Lazer Tag feature, you will benefit from:
- All multipliers starting at 5
- Each god shoots 1 more lazer towards his opponent
- Gates can appear with multipliers tags on them of 3, 5, 8, 10 or 50
- Lazers that pass through gates with values increase the Multipliers on the side with plus that amount if they hit
With the Golden Hourglass not appearing, the feature ends when either god takes 7 hits. This sees all accumulated multipliers are added up and awarded as a prize times the bet.
Sneaky Boost & Buy
To help you trigger the bonus features, there is a Sneaky Boost feature, with 2 options:
- Sneaky: costing 2 x bet, the Sneaky symbol is active with 1 or 2 Sneaky symbols triggering a bonus feature.
- Super Sneaky: costs 5 x bet, landing 1 Sneaky symbol triggers a bonus feature with 2 triggering a ‘Super’ Bonus feature.
Then you have the Sneaky Buy feature: not available in the UK, there are 3 options:
| Option | Description | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| God Fight | Both God symbols land | 15 x bet |
| Death Games | Entry to Death Games | 100 x bet |
| Super Death Games | Entry to Super Death Games | 500 x bet |
Expert Verdict

Gods Go Pew Pew combines various mechanics and bonus features into a unique package that is intriguing yet equally confusing. I would have hoped for max win potential higher than 9,999 x your total bet though.
On first impressions, the Gods Go Pew Pew slot appears as another dark, Greek mythology game. The premise is that 2 gods battle each other to emerge as the leader of the underworld, with plenty of bonus features thrown in. When the 2 Gods appear simultaneously, the symbols inbetween them transform into Bone Wilds: the further apart the Gods land, the better. Depending on who wins, you’ll benefit from split symbols with multipliers doubled and symbol upgrades.
Then you have Nolimit City’s xZone mechanic that adds a multiplier up to 50x to symbols around it. If multipliers already exist, their values are combined. The xZone mechanic can be found in Gluttony and Skate or Die. For reference, Freak Show Revelation uses the xBomb mechanic and Gopnik uses the xNudge Wild mechanic.
Then you have the 2 free spins features: the Dead Spins feature benefits for a higher chance of landing God symbols. When symbols are transformed, the multiplier increases in value. In the ‘Super’ version, that active Skull Multiplier doesn’t reset on every free spin.
I found the Lazer Tag feature more compelling: with the Gods firing lazers at each other, the multipliers on the side of the reels increase when hit by a lazer. With the Skull symbol moving from left to right and right to left, every God lazer will activate Skull Eyes: they double multipliers. With the feature ending when a God runs out of lives, the key is for the lazers to not reach a God.
Graphically, the game is dark but also odd: this is the case especially in the Lazer Tag feature where the soundtrack has an 80s/techno-style sound. It will take you a while to get your head around the Lazer Tag feature but it’s certainly much more fun than the more mundane Death Spins feature.
That said, your chances of landing the max win are much higher in the Death Spins feature than in the Lazer Tag feature. With 9,999 x bet max wins, Gods Go Pew Pew does lack the max win potential of other Greek mythology slots.
That said, Gods Go Pew Pew is different and I quite like it. The base game is satisfactory but it’s in the 2 main bonus features that things can get interesting. I particularly like the Lazer Tag feature which is unique and equally confusing.
