One of the standout features of this game is the Evil Eye symbol paired with the Evil Spread mechanic. When the Evil Eye symbol appears beneath a winning symbol, it triggers the Evil Spread feature. Evil Eyes Expert Review
Theme, Audio + Symbols
The ominous-looking main character is the first thing that grabs your attention as you start playing. He gives you the eye (and not in a good way!) with his laser-like piercing blue eyes. Hacksaw Gaming teases that ”something wicked this way comes. The Shade has trapped you in their gaze.” And he certainly looks like a dark force to be reckoned with.
Set in a deserted graveyard filled with crooked tombstones and a chilling mist, the game’s atmosphere screams horror. But this is where the traditional horror-slot genre similarities end. Blue is the dominant colour throughout the game, leading to the eerie all-seeing blue eye of ‘The Evil Eye.’
Red takes centre stage during The Graveyard bonus round, with plenty of blood splattering across the screen. Familiar spooky symbols like ravens and wolves also make their eerie presence felt on the reels.
Here is a list of the symbols and their values:
- Main character: 3 = 1.00, 4 = 2.00 and 5 = 4.00 x the bet
- Spider: 3 = 0.50, 4 = 4 = 1.00 and 5 = 1.50
- Wolf: 3 = 0.50, 4 = 1.00 and 5 = 1.50 x the bet
- Raven: 3 = 0.30, 4 = 0.50 and 5 = 0.80
- Skeleton: 3 = 0.30, 4 = 0.50 and 5 = 0.80 x the bet
- Grey lower-value symbols: 3 = 0.10, 4 = 0.30 and 5 = 0.50 x the bet
- FS Scatter: triggers bonus rounds
Evil Eyes Mobile
The Evil Eyes mobile slot uses the latest HTML5 technology, which means that you can be assured of an enjoyable mobile gaming experience whether you're using Android or iOS. It also works well on tablets and desktops. If you play on desktop, the recommended ratio is 16:9.
Bonus Features
There are 6 bonus features to enjoy when you play the Evil Eyes slot:
Wicked Night
Landing 3 FS scatter symbols during the base game triggers this bonus feature which has 3 lives. Only non-paying symbols, Evil Eye symbols, and multiplier scatter symbols will appear during the Wicked Night feature. Every time an Evil Eye symbol lands, it will glance up, right, left or down and collect all the multiplier symbols that cross its gaze.
The multiplier symbol values that are collected are added to the reel multipliers above the reel that they landed on, which you can see in the screenshot below. The Evil Eye symbol can land on all reels, and multiple Evil Eye symbols can land at the same time.
This feature has 3 refilling lives that reset each time the eye looks at and collects a multiplier. Each spin uses up a life, but landing a new Evil Eye resets the amount.
When the feature ends, all reel multipliers will be added together and multiplied with your bet to determine the final win. The multipliers range in value between 1x and 100x, and the multiplying multipliers range between 2x and 10x.
Wicked Epic Drop
This feature has a chance to be randomly activated at the start of each spin in the base game. When this feature is activated, the game transforms into the Wicked Night bonus feature for just one spin. On this spin, at least 3 Evil Eye symbols and 4 multipliers are guaranteed to land, and at least one multiplier will always be collected.
The Graveyard
Landing 4 FS Scatters triggers The Graveyard bonus, where you're awarded 10 free spins.
During this feature, low symbols that have been a part of a win and spread by the Evil Spread mechanic are removed from the grid. Landing additional FS symbols during the feature awards extra free spins: 2 FS symbols = 2 extra spins and 3 FS symbols = 4 extra spins.
The Evil Eye and the Evil Spread
If the Evil Eye symbol lands under a winning symbol, it will activate the Evil Spread feature. The Evil Eye symbol will first mark all the symbols of that win. Then, it will rotate to face right or down to indicate the direction of the Evil Spread mechanic. The Evil Spread mechanic will extend the win to the end of the grid in the chosen direction by replacing the marked symbols with the winning symbol.
If the Evil Spread mechanic crosses the path of the Evil Eye symbol itself, the Evil Eye symbol will also convert to the winning symbol. If the Evil Spread activates to the right, it may activate again downwards The Evil Eye symbol only lands on the middle reel and only once at a time.
Bonus Buy
If you're playing from outside of the UK, you can use the Bonus Buy feature:
Option | What's Included | Cost |
BonusHunt FeatureSpins | Each spin is 5 times more likely to trigger one of the bonus games. FS symbols can only land on reels 2-5 | 3 x the bet |
I Spy With My Evil Eye FeatureSpins | The Evil Eye symbols collect all the multipliers that cross their gaze, with the same mechanics as the bonus Wicked Night. At least 3 Evil Eye symbols and 4 multipliers are guaranteed to land on every spin, and at least one multiplier will be collected | 50 x the bet |
An Eye For An Evil Eye FeatureSpin | Guarantees a win and that an Evil Eye symbol lands on every spin | 50 x the bet |
Wicked Night | Activate the Wicked Night bonus feature | 100 x the bet |
The Graveyard | Activates the The Graveyard bonus feature | 200 x the bet |
Expert Verdict
This game's pieces connect together seamlessly to create a high-quality slots experience. I was particularly impressed by the concept of The Evil Eye and how it spreads across the screen and extends the win across the grid. The Wicked Night feature looked visually striking, and your life is reset every time you land a new Evil Eye. This bonus feature pairs really well with the Evil Eye.
The Wicked Epic Drop feature brings something fresh to the table. I liked the idea of randomly triggering a single spin of the Wicked Night bonus—it felt like a sneaky peek. Plus, with a guarantee of at least 3 Evil Eye symbols and 4 multipliers landing, it’s a definite highlight.
Hacksaw Gaming slots are one of the most innovative studios around so it’s always exciting to review one of its games to see what they have come up with. This title feels as fresh and innovative as most of Hacksaw’s games. Hacksaw’s RTPs are always well above the 96% average and this game is decent at 96.24%.
With a max win of 12,500 x the bet this is one of the higher amounts offered. It’s actually a joint 5th largest max win to date along with Beam Boys, Wanted Dead or a Wild, RIP City. What's even better is that the 12,500x can be triggered during the base game, too.
While this game will undoubtedly draw some Halloween traffic, it’s far from your typical Halloween slot. As always, Hacksaw Gaming has added its own unique twist, making it stand out from the crowd. This game scores a solid 4.5 out of 5; I’ll definitely be playing Evil Eyes again!
