Chomplings Slot (Print Studios)

The Chomplings slot is played on an 8x8 grid with a new eating mechanic. Unlike traditional grid slots with Scatter or Cluster Pays, your aim is to chomp through gems. On every spin, there is a unique wall configuration which blocks these Chomplings from devouring gems.

Walls will collapse, rotate and shift to ensure a different experience on every spin. Look out for wormholes as these transport these alien creatures around the grid. Wins are displayed with a progress bar which fills as symbols are devoured. When the progress bar is full, the win amount is awarded. The progress bar then resets with a new win amount on display.  

Bets-wise, you can play from as little as 20p a spin. The maximum is £50 a spin. To change your bet, use the arrows or press/click the bet amount to see a scrolling list of options. Non-UK players can select up to 1,000 auto spins in the Autoplay function and speed up the spin speed with Turbo Mode.

The Chomplings RTP rate is 96.1% which is above the average. As always, there is a lower RTP version of 94% which may be used at your chosen site (open the Paytable to check). The Chomplings free demo above uses the highest RTP setting.

Very high volatility (5/5), expect a winning combination every 4.1 spins on average as the hit frequency rate is 24.37%. The game’s max win is 20,000 times your total bet. However, winning this will take approximately 8,971,582 spins (known as the max win probability).

With a space theme, the Chomplings slot takes you on an intergalactic feast with 4 ferocious alien monsters. Their aim is to devour gems with a brand-new payout mechanic.

Set in outer space, it feels a little like but like Pac-Man combined with alien creatures. What I noticed first is the soundtrack which is quirky and has a synthesizer feel. I can safely say you’ve never come across a slot game like it which is a bonus.

On the 8x8 grid, you’ll see 4 Chomplings: Wingrid, Rocky, Zuck and Gemma. Each with an insatiable appetite, the move across the grid as long as they have gems to eat. Gems come in 6 different flavours, either as regular or premium. The latter fill the progress bar far quicker naturally.

Chomplings also comes with Multiplier Rocks which increase the win multiplier by up to 100x or by doubling it. Other symbols include Chompling Eggs, Wormholes and Instant Prizes. More information on each of these special symbols can be found below.

Chomplings Mobile

Print Studios produce all slots using HTML5 technology. Compatible with mobile, desktop and tablet devices, Chomplings will use Portrait Mode when playing on an iOS or Android smartphone. Whilst it looks fine on mobile devices, a larger screen (PC or laptop) is recommended so you can get to grips with the unique payout mechanic.

The Chomplings slot is pretty unique as it uses an innovative eating mechanic of sorts. The aim is to fill the progress bar which awards a win. With the grid changing with each spin, Chomplings eat gems but have special powers to help them devour more gems. There are 6 gems as well as more-valuable premium versions and special symbols.

Win Meter

The more gems the Chomplings eat, the more the progress bar is filled. When the progress bar is full, the win amount is awarded. This changes with each spin and varies between 0.1 and 100 times your total bet.

Dynamic Grid

On each new spin, the grid is generating with a unique configuration. 4 Chomplings are placed on the grid with a random wall configuration dividing the grid into regions: the empty positions are then filled with symbols.

The Chomplings then move across the grid consuming all symbols and other Chomplings they reach. However, they can only move orthogonally (left, right, up or down) and not through walls.

4 Chomplings

As mentioned, there are 4 Chomplings which have an insatiable appetite for gems. They will move across the grid as long as there are gems to eat. If they come across a wall, a Chompling may stomp the ground to try and knock it down. You may seem them devour each other which powers up their special head gear. Below, here is where each of the Chompling creatures does:

• Wingrid: moves to another area on the grid when a section has been devoured
• Rocky: removes a wall when a section has been cleared
• Zuck: consumes all gems from another region on the grid
• Gemma: upgrades all gems to premium versions (with premium symbol values increases)

Gems

On the grid, you’ll come across Gems that come in 6 flavours. With both regular and premium versions, premium gems fill the progress bar significantly more than the regular ones.

Special Symbols

Other symbols you’ll come across include the following:

• Multiplier Rocks: these increase the win multiplier by up to 100x or it doubles it
• Egg: spawns 1 new Chompling in a random position on the grid
• Egg Pile: spawns up to 4 new Chomplings in random positions
• Wormhole: 2 may appear which allow a Chompling to reach a new area on the grid when stepped into
• Instant Prize: when devoured a cash prize of up to 100 x bet will be awarded

When all Chomplings have stopped moving (and eating), there’s a chance the walls will rotate which creates new opportunities for the Chomplings to move. If the Chomplings manage to eat all symbols, the grid regenerates with a new spin commencing.

Introducing a new payout mechanic, the Chomplings slot guarantees a unique experience. Similar to ELK Studios’ CollectR mechanic used in the Pirots games (i.e. Pirots 3), these alien creatures devour gems on the grid until they hit walls. The Chomplings possess their own special powers which see them move to other areas, remove walls, eat gems from another region and upgrade gems to premium versions.

The aim is to eat all symbols on the grid which sees the grid regenerated. To help you achieve this, there are several special symbols which increase the win multiplier by up to 100x, add new Chomplings to the grid, transport Chomplings to new regions and award instant cash prizes.

Whilst avid slot players may compare with ELK Studios’ Pirots games, it feels completely different to me personally. Playing a few hundred spins in demo mode is certainly recommended so you can grasp what’s going on. If you benefit from enough special symbols and plenty of these funny little creatures on the grid, it can be chaotic and crazy.

Whilst it’s different to other Print Studios games, I’m all for new mechanics. I think the Chomplings slot is an acquired taste personally but the 20,000 times bet max win potential will certainly influence many to give it a go.

That said, we all though Print Studios were innovative when they introduced SuperSpinners multipliers in Royal Potato and the video game/arcade bonus feature Reapers. Then came the Plinko slots as well as Holy Hand Grenade and Tarasque which are just brilliant.
