Anna Bondar vs Elina Svitolina Tips

Svitolina is expected to go deep in Madrid next week. Anna Bondár is a good player but more suited to and can perform well at the 250 level. Svitolina has found her second wind and is back in the top 10 and in flying form in 2026.

Elina Svitolina is 7th in the WTA rankings, while Bondár is only 63rd. Elina Svitolina has won 12 of her last 16 matches. She played solidly in Miami last month, and I expect her to dominate Bondár today.

Bondar has been in good form on clay and has won five of seven on the surface this year, and is nine wins from her last twelve on clay. Svitolina is in fine current form. On clay she has won two of three this year and nine of her last twelve. Svitolina in three.

Binder to take the first set is the prediction. She beat Svitolina the last time they met on court, in the 2025 US Open. Svitolina has been in excellent form this year and will probably win, but I see Binder pushing her hard, starting by winning the first set.

Svitolina’s style relies on exhausting opponents rather than hitting through them, resulting in tighter margins. Bondár’s physical fitness and strong clay mechanics ensure she protects her serve well enough to cover this handicap.

This is a close call. My hunch is that Elina will not underestimate Anna. I think this will be a straight-sets win, maybe 2-0, and 4-0 to cover the handicap.
