8:30 Wolverhampton Tips

Was a winner at Lingfield in December and has placed in 4 of 5 races since. Should go well again and is likely to be there or thereabouts.

6-year-old gelding sired by Vadamos has been very consistent of late, being placed 2-3-2-2 in his last 4 since January. He seems to like Wolverhampton and has come 2nd in 2 classified events in his last 2 runs. Over a bit further today in a handicap, but sticking with the jockey who is becoming more familiar with him. I think he will give his running and, although sometimes slower away than most, will have more race time to catch up for the extra distance.

Although only sixth here last time, he wasn't beaten far and is better than he looked on paper. This step up in trip looks a positive move. Dropped another two pounds and is now ten below the opening mark. As a four-year-old with only six runs, there is scope for improvement. Market support is another positive indicator.

Interesting coming back to the flat. If his form holds up, this could be a great opportunity for him to get his head in front, and Ewan Whillans has been in good form of late.

On the evidence of the run when returning to this sphere over this trip just after Christmas, Virtual Hug is worthy of consideration here. He's two pounds lighter in the weights than that narrow defeat. So, even though there's a disappointing classified showing in between, he's every chance of being involved from this reduced mark.
