By The Book has won both of his races although the last one was nine months ago. He steps up in grade but has potential to do more.

Has not really stood the test of time since a decent run in the Guineas way back when, but seemingly back on track and not unsupported here. Will go well under Oisin Murphy in what is hopefully a tactical race.

Race 5 at Newmarket today is the Godolphin Stakes - Listed Race for 3-year-olds and upwards over 2,414 m. The suggested wager is for the each way on the 5-year-old gelding Isle of Jura from the George Scott yard, and will be ridden by Billy Loughnane. This son of New Approach is certainly an exciting prospect, having won 8 of his last 10 starts. He was last seen when winning his 5th in a row, victorious in the Hardwicke Stakes - Group 2 (Class 1) at Royal Ascot last year in June. There is no reason to believe he won't be near his best today and should be a principal contender.

Twelve months ago, James Owen's Burdett Road made all to win this race by an easy eight and a half lengths. That was on soft ground, but he is a Royal Ascot winner on good to firm, so the ground is not an issue. He also won last season's Greatwood over hurdles from the front. This year, he again faces a small field and has a chance of once again getting a soft lead and could repeat last season's success.

Haa improved with each race, finishing a close second in its last two. The last of those was the Champion Hurdle last March, so it looks a little overpriced given these stats.

Very disappointing at Newmarket when 5/6 fav and well down the field. It could be down to the firm ground. Suited by the ground today and has already got that form in higher class.
