Even the seventh-place finish, he was only beaten 4 lengths by the winner Go Dante.

A twenty-six length winner when back from a long absence. He goes well when fresh. Over three hundred days later, he can repeat the trick.

This looks quite an open race on paper and, at double-digit odds, Denemethy seems a little underestimated given his overall form over fences. A winner at Market Rasen last term, he has repeatedly bumped into strong rivals such as Issam and Pic Roc, along with other well-handicapped types who have since advertised the form. He was very keen and pressed for the lead throughout last time out over course and distance, with several fences omitted due to low sun when making his seasonal reappearance. He jumped well and probably needed the outing, eventually dropping back into fourth in the closing stages. He has been ridden in different ways, so if the pace proves strong Jack Hogan, who knows him well, can settle him in midfield, though he is also capable of going forward. Dropped 2 lb for that respectable effort, he should come on plenty for the run and makes some appeal for a place in the frame.

Rated 107, BOYLES HILL is towards the bottom of the handicap here and could be well treated on hurdles form. This seven-year-old has been beaten a combined 96 lengths on his two starts over fences, racing off marks of 114 first time out and 112 last time out. He won twice in handicap hurdles, winning off a mark of 102, and he backed that up with a win off today’s mark of 107. Both of those wins came on heavy ground, and with his last two efforts being on good and good-to-firm ground respectively, he should be much better suited by today's testing conditions.
