1:50 Doncaster Tips

The Appleby/Godolphin juvenile was very impressive at Yarmouth & although he probably only beat trees, he still looked one to follow.

A promising horse that won well on debut at York. Up in grade here but open to plenty of improvement and will like the conditions.

Do Or Do Not is the only maiden in this Listed race, but he has been placed several times, including in four Group 2 races. Although disappointing last time at York when only a six-length 3rd place, he could bounce back at Doncaster.

I'll take this horse at 14/1 for this race happily. Balding is formidable at this meeting, and the horse is the most proven in the race on the going (not many have been tested). It has experience over others in the race, and it also has only run twice over the trip, both resulting in victories, albeit in handicap races on marks of low 80s. It's still unexposed and could find a couple more lbs in improvement in this race, in my opinion, and looks a genuine contender that'll go off shorter than this.

If Electrical, who sprang a shock on debut, were with a more prominent trainer on that performance, he would be 8/1, not 33/1. He did win well at Newbury that day, overcoming greenness, and I particularly liked the way he battled at the end. For a horse on its debut, that bodes well. I think he is seriously overpriced in this. For all it's a deeper race, he lacks the experience of a few of these. That win came over 6 furlongs, and being out of Nathanial, this trip will suit even more.
