Admittedly, he's not as good as he once was. He lost his way completely after finishing 3rd in a Grade 2 hurdle race at Haydock 2 years back. He changed stables a couple of times before finding some sort of consistency with his current stable. I felt he showed enough in his penultimate run to suggest all was not lost with him. Despite finishing 7th of the 10 runners, he was only beaten 17L. Yes, that may sound bad, but it was a massive improved performance based on what he had shown for over 2 years. He won on reappearance last time out, pitched into a Red Rum Series qualifier. He won cosily, always prominent. When the jockey asked for his effort, he shot clear for an easy win. He's now up to a mark of 117. He's still a massive 21lbs below (26lbs below if you include the jockey's claim here) the mark he defied to win the Becher at this course almost 3 years ago. Hopefully, the win last time out has given him the confidence he so badly needed.
