Beau Army appeals in this 3yo 7f handicap. She is already a course-and-distance winner, which is a big positive for a young horse on the Polytrack. Her recent figures put her right at the top of this field. The handicapper hasn’t gone overboard, so there might still be a bit of improvement to come from a filly who’s handled the conditions before. With that C&D win on her card and a workable mark, she looks a very logical selection.

Apiary should have won last time out but got run out on the far side. I fancy this horse will put that right today in a very winnable race.

Race 5 at Dundalk in Ireland today is the DundalkStadium.com Handicap over 1400m for 3-year-olds only. It is to be run on the Standard (AW - Polytrack). The suggested wager is an each-way on the 3-year-old gelding Iff In Doubt from the E. Lynam yard. He will be ridden by apprentice jockey Enola Pollet, who will claim 10 lb. This son of Iffraaj is still a maiden after six starts; however, he has shown good improvement in the last three starts, especially since the apprentice rode him in the last two. The gelding showed good acceleration in the closing stages both times to finish close up. Excellent chance here.

Not shown much in their three runs to date, and that includes here at Dundalk on 3yo return. However, he goes into his first-time handicap here off a very lowly mark of 48. The drop back to this 7f should suit. Plum draw and a good apprentice claiming 7 lb. In the hands of a shrewd trainer, making the current 9/1 solid each-way value here.

Beau Army heads the market, having won her last two in the manner of an improving filly. However, she will do well to confirm the form of her latest run when she had Irynas Star less than three lengths in arrears. The latter named is twelve pounds better off today when her rider's allowance is taken into account, and she looks far better value than the favourite.

She hasn't run particularly well in any of her starts so far, but she is more suited to the all??'weather based on her pedigree. She is a half-sister to two all??'weather winners, and her dam, Coconut Kisses, was also an AW winner.

She was held in all of her last three opening starts on turf in tougher €15k maiden races last autumn, but nonetheless she can come on for that experience now freshened up. Taking a drop in class for her handicap debut, she could well surprise if she takes to this surface.
