Mulrennan rides The Caltonian for Linda Perratt, and Lauren Young rides Oriental Prince, which leaves Arnhem looking for a jockey. Instead of going for stable regular Amie Waugh, who’s had 470 rides for the yard and who rides on the card in the 19:30, they’ve plumped for Harry Davies. Davies is very interesting because he’s 1-4 for the yard and this is his only ride on the card. For that reason I’d have him as first string of the two for the yard here. A nose loser to Lethal Nymph at Doncaster back in September, our selection still clocked the fastest final two furlongs of the two runners. That form was turned around at Pontefract a month later, but I can’t imagine that was his track and he’s a better horse on the AW. He had Monks Dream three lengths behind when winning at Haydock in the race previous to that. I wouldn’t make him an outsider of the field based on form brought to the table and the jockey booking, so would take anything 8/1+.

The yard are in good form, sending out two winners from their last six, with a further three places. This one ran his best race for some six months last time out. A track-and-trip winner off a mark of 58 in May, he’s dropped to a rating of 54 here. Bet at anything 9/2+.

He’s gone off well-fancied a few times now without delivering, but he’s off the back of a good course-and-distance second and now gets first-time headgear. If that’s enough to squeeze a bit more out of him, he’s a big player here. I’d make him a 9/2 shot.
