2025 US PGA Championship Tips

Rory McIlroy has completed the Grand Slam of Golf, and I fancy he will head to Quail Hollow this week feeling pretty good about his chances. The Northern Irishman is a two-time PGA Championship winner and has won around Quail Hollow four times in his career. I am siding with Rory claiming a sixth major championship title this week in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Scottie Scheffler had taken a week off last week as he prepared for this. Scottie Scheffler played well in the Masters and won his last PGA Competition and can go well this week.

Bryson DeChambeau has gone very well in the Masters, only for the last round to fall away. Bryson does very well in the big four Major competitions over the last couple of years, and he can do well this week.

Justin Thomas can go well this week. Justin Thomas has been in very good form all year and finished 2nd in the competition on the PGA Tour last week. Justin Thomas has won his one major competition at this course and can go well again this week.

The American is the defending champion at the PGA Championship, and he won a couple of majors last year to elevate his game to where many believed he should be. Runner-up the last two years at Quail Hollow, and I am backing Xander Schauffele to go close to winning another Wanamaker Trophy.

Cantlay finally started holing the putts last week, but it wasn't quite good enough. However, it augurs well for this week at Quail Hollow, where he's played plenty and did pretty well. He is the value for me.

American players have a good record in this tournament, but so does Viktor Hovland, who's finished second and third in the last two. After a poor early season, he's bounced back this year to win a PGA and looks a good EW price here.

The American has won three PGA Championships, and with five major titles, I am tipping he will be a good fit this week at Quail Hollow. Brooks Koepka was 13th on his first appearance at Quail Hollow, and my tip is he will be right there come Sunday night chasing a sixth major championship.

Corey Connors is currently ranked 21 on the OWG Rankings list. 5 top 10 finishes in 2025, plus T11 at the Truist last week. Course form with T13 and 8 placed finishes on last 2 visits here. Each way chance.

Jason Day is currently 32 on the OWGR Rankings list. 3 top 10 finishes in 2023, including T8 in the Masters. Course form having won the Wells Fargo in 2018. Each way chance.

Patrick Reed can go well this week. Patrick Reed has done well in the Masters this year and has gone very good at this course before. He can do well again this week and does keep the best of his form for the big competitions.

The Korean was tied fifth at The Masters Tournament last month and I do think he will have another good showing at the second major championship of the year which is the PGA Championship. The last two years at Quail Hollow he has been fourth and eighth and I think Sungjae Im is a strong outside pick this week.

Max Homa has a very good record at Quail Hollow in recent years. He won at this course in 2019 and was eighth in 2023 and 2024. He tied 12th at The Masters Tournament last month at Augusta National. I am tipping the American has a real chance this week on a course he knows well.

Robert Macintyre had his best season in 2024, winning the Canadian and Scottish Opens in great style. The Scot has had a slowish start to his 2025 season, but a recent T-9 at the Players can inspire him to greater things at the PGA Championship this week. Coming from Scotland, Macintyre's game is suited to tough courses, and there are few tougher than North Carolina's Quail Hollow.

Six-time winner on the PGA Tour, Tony Finau, has the form to challenge at this week's PGA Championship. The big-hitting American is yet to win a major, but he has gone close on several occasions. He tied 4th at the 2020 PGA Championship and tied 3rd at last season's US Open. He is too good a price to ignore, so at 125/1, I'll take Finau to finish top 8 at Quail Hollow in North Carolina!

The American was tied third on his PGA Championship debut in 2022, and the same year he was runner-up at The Open Championship. Since then, he has three other top ten finishes at major championships. I do think Cameron Young has the game to win a major. I think this week at Quail Hollow he will put a good run together to challenge for one again.

Sergio is back into a better tournament than what he's played in just lately so will need a little more improvement but he often raises his game for these big tournaments and he's not been far away from his best form just lately.

Harris English is ranked 34 on the OWG Rankings list. Has previous course form (3rd in the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship), winning form in 2025 (Farmers Insurance), 12th in the Masters, and T11 in last week's Truist. Seems overpriced.
