Career defining Test Match coming up for some at The WACA
by Randy Rann on 10 Dec at 22:14
Third Test a must watch........but only from behind the sofa!! Well what can you say, England battered in Brisbane and well and truly addled in Adelaide, with the forthcoming comfort that the WACA at Perth awaits, where England have only ever won ONCE at! 2-0 down with a must not lose Test Match coming up at the Aussie stronghold and with Mitchell Johnson stepping it up a notch on his home patch. A Hat Stand! MONTY PANESAR England won't play two spinners in Perth and may even play without any. However I feel they should, and Monty is my pick. He bowled better than Graeme Swann and I won't forget his gutsy knock at No.11 in the First Innings for many a year. He took his blows and the look in his eyes is comical, but he showed tremendous courage. Don't forget either..
First World Cup insights after the group stage draw
by botev1921 on 06 Dec at 23:09
The World Cup might be six months away, but I have learned from previous tournaments that the best value bets are usually available right after the draw is out as long as one manages to come up with accurate conclusions. The draw itself pretty much determines who the bookies consider a bigger favorite based on several aspects, including group difficulty, which groups cross each other and which teams are more likely to come out of their half of the draw into the semi-finals and final respectively. With the odds already moving in different directions, I will try highlight the different potential trends and outcomes of each group and determine which are the real value bets and which could be considered totally unworthy of taking. Overview of the groups Usually the analysts divide groups into easy and difficult or the known cliché “groups..
Betting on the NBA - players market
by botev1921 on 11 Dec at 14:12
I continue my examination of the NBA betting markets with one, which is not very popular among punters as bookies expanded it only recently, but at the same time I consider it very interesting as it always offers just two options and in all honesty is not that difficult to understand. The players market rarely offers any serious odds, but there is a very simple system everyone could exploit when picking the winning option. Not just that, but there is no need for in-depth knowledge of every player in the NBA as the bookies often limit the availability of players to the stars of franchise players and all in all even people who do not regularly follow the league could find a winner with a few minutes of research of trends and match-ups. What is a ‘players market’ and what types..
Nelson Mandela Championship Preview
by jimmywomble on 10 Dec at 13:41
A Silva Lining as Golf Pays Its Respects to Madiba Golf will almost take a back seat this week on the European Tour following the passing last week of Nelson Mandela, just a week before the tournament that bears his name, The Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa. Although he has had one last say on the event as it has been moved forward to start on Wednesday 11th December to accommodate for his funeral which will be on the Sunday. This will be the second year of the event and winner last year was Scott Jamieson at the Royal Durban it what was a rain soaked opener to the 2013, where the event was cut to just 36 holes and the course shortened to a mere 5,594 yards. This year we have a new course as they move..
Stats to give us the edge on Score & Win and Both Teams to Score
by Scratville on 10 Dec at 15:13
In recent weeks I've been looking at the new betting phenomenon of Score & Win, this bet is like Both teams to Score but you have to choose a winner the odds are obviously much more attractive. I have approached this from a statistical point of view, the table below shows the number of times the home team have been involved in a Score and Win match when playing at home and the number of times the away team has been involved in a Score and Win game when playing away. The middle to figures are the numbers of times the home team has scored and won plus the number of times the away team has scored and lost and vice versa, are you with me so far lol! Last week when doing this for my personal interest I highlighted 9..
The Stewart Family Thank You Gold Cup Trends (updated Dec 12th)
by Micko70 on 10 Dec at 19:14
The Massey Ferguson Gold Cup is run at Cheltenham racecourse in December, it's a grade 3 handicap chase which is run over 2 miles and 5 furlongs. The race started in 1963 as the above named race but has been also run under plenty of other titles, in 2006 Boylesports took over the sponsorship and the race was known as the Boylesports.com Gold Cup until 2009. Since 2009 it has been run as a different named race every year, in 2010 it was called the Vote A P Gold Cup to try and get racing fans to vote for Tony McCoy in the Sports Personality of the year in 2010, in 2011 it was called the Spinal Research The Atlantic 4 Gold Cup. Last year it changed it's title again and was run as the Paul Stewart IronSpine Charity Challenge Gold Cup and..
UK Championship Round-up: Positives and Negatives
by TeddyT on 09 Dec at 17:07
UK Championship Round Up Who Did Not Impress? Mark Selby In some ways Selby did remarkably well to make the final of the UK considering he didn’t play well for most of the week. That may seem an unlikely theory given that he won six matches and made a 147 break but Selby himself admitted as much after losing to Neil Robertson. Selby did quite well with the draw in York, playing three low ranked players and then meeting little resistance from Graeme Dott and Ricky Walden. Barry Hawkins should really have knocked the reigning UK champ out in the quarter-final but Selby managed to win the last three frames of that match to pinch a victory. Selby's victory probably had as much to do with how few matches Hawkins’ has won recently as it did Selby’s resilience. In my opinion Selby’s confidence is remarkably..
