PROS & CONS of Met Gaming Online Betting Site

The below is all explained in finer detail later in this review, but these quick pros and cons give bettors a quick understanding of where Metropolitan Gaming’s strengths lie.

Who Are Met Gaming?

Met Gaming (short for Metropolitan Gaming)  is an Aspire Global site – a company with a great track record of producing very popular online sportsbooks and casinos – for the former think mr.play, Neptune Play and Bzeebet. This particular product is the online version of its bricks and mortar casinos around the world, but mostly in the UK.

  • Established in 2022

  • AG Communications Ltd

  • UKGC licence number - 39483

First Impression of Met Gaming

By Luke Bradshaw Lee - This review will reflect the service offered at the time of writing. I signed up on the desktop version of Met Gaming, but also used the mobile version to compare, but there is no app to download.

You could be forgiven, thanks to the name, and perhaps the branding of the casino side of operations, that everything at Met Gaming is purely casino-based, but the presentation of the sportsbook is quite data-driven and business-like. Once you’ve selected “Sport” at the very top menu, you’ll be greeted by all the in-play markets. The menu down the side immediately conveys just how many sports, competitions and events are covered here. I also really like the slider on the menu bar to move from different time frames: today, three days, this week etc.

If you’ve used any other Aspire Global sportsbooks, especially Neptune Play, you’ll feel at home here.

Met Gaming Live Betting

There’s so much here, and the vast majority of it is pretty good. As discussed above, the in-play markets are where you’re directed to from the off, something that is fairly standard across most sportsbooks and you can then choose to navigate from this page. There are some sports not featured here, snooker for example, which does suggest that the coverage isn’t quite as broad as I first thought, but there’s a variety of different esports (Counter Strike and Valorant included) covered, which is great to see.

See if they make it into our best bookmakers for in-play betting.

Met Gaming Live Streaming

Met Gaming doesn’t offer any live streaming at the time of this review.

Met Gaming Betting Odds

After looking across other bookmakers in the UK, plus going through some comparison sites, it seems as though that the odds offered at Met Gaming are pretty competitive on the whole. We checked football, basketball and tennis for in-play odds, plus horse racing, ice hockey and rugby for pre-match and ante post odds. They’re generally pretty good and because they cover sports some more niche sports, there’s a good chance this is one of the only places that you’ll find odds for them at all.

Met Gaming Betting App or Mobile Site

The mobile version is nearly identical to the desktop version of the site. One thing I really like is the main sports menu is an additional menu bar (I can’t see anything like this on desktop) of news-relevant tournaments. So right now there is the NBA and NHL play-offs, La Liga and a few others. There’s no separation of sports, just the most relevant right now and, after revisiting a few times, I can see that this updates automatically. It’s a great little feature and one that other Aspire brands also utilise.

Met Gaming Football Betting

Met Gaming doesn’t quite make our best football betting sites in the UK, but they’re not a million miles away to be honest. The menu panel is telling me that there’s nearly 1000 different games that I can bet on at this moment in time, and that’s about right compared to most other major bookmakers at the same time. Beyond that, the market depth is impressive and users will have plenty to get their teeth stuck into if choosing to bet here.

Bet Builder

Met Gaming has a bet builder function, and it’s not bad, but could definitely be improved if we’re comparing it to some of the better ones out in the market. I’d say it’s about above average, but would definitely be better if there were some more markets to add into individual bet builders. Those may increase closer to kick-off, but that doesn’t stop others having those same markets included.

Bonuses

The bonuses at Met Gaming are very limited. There is a welcome bonus to take advantage of, but it stops there after that. So that means no promotions for returning loyal customers which is a huge miss. There are some promotions for the casino side of things, but nothing sportsbook related.

Cash Out

Cashout is a very important betting feature for punters these days so it's crucial that bookies integrate this feature into their mobile betting apps. Met Gaming have done this well, allowing their customers to instantly cash out their bets on any device they like.

Met Gaming Horse Racing

Met Gaming’s horse racing offering is decent enough. We’ve already highlighted the fact that there are no promotions. The actual odds are pretty good, but there’s no BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed), which is often a deciding factor for punters. I’m not convinced that they cover all UK meets either, because today there are three meets on in the UK (Market Rasen, Taunton and Wolverhampton), but only two are listed here, which does seem a bit odd. See how they compare to our top 10 best betting sites for BOG.

Met Gaming US Sports Betting

A full range of American Sports is available. We’ll check out the major leagues, but also look into the sports further down the pyramid and, as well as across the globe.

American Football Betting

Unfortunately, Met Gaming does something that is a real bugbear of mine when it comes to American sports, well certainly American football and basketball. When you see the event (a specific game) it only lists the winner and total. This is better than just displaying the result market, which some do, but what it really should show is three markets: spread, total and moneyline (result). You can see these once you click through, but it’s not how bettors on these sports bet.

Despite that, there is a huge number of markets here, including next season’s outrights and NFL Draft markets, which is great to have. It’s worth checking out our best NFL betting sites to see how Met Gaming compares.

Basketball Betting

I think Met Gaming has a fantastic selection of basketball leagues to bet on, there are hundreds and hundreds of markets, and this is something that we regularly see with Aspire sportsbooks. There’s obviously the NBA, but Met Gaming covers a wide range of EuroLeague and domestic world competitions, including competitions in Latvia, Turkey, Lithuania, El Salvador and Australia, among others. There are also plenty of markets per game, with game, team and player markets covered really nicely.

Baseball Betting

Met Gaming obviously covers the MLB, but they also have markets for the Japanese and South Korean leagues. The markets, and the odds, especially on the outrights, look really good. The MLB season is well underway at the time of writing, and as a result there is a healthy amount of things to bet on, such as individual awards and the like. Keep tabs on the top baseball betting sites though, to see why they make it onto our list.

Ice Hockey Betting

The NHL takes up the bulk of space here, as expected. But there are also some Finnish, Swiss, and German fixtures included, among others. I selected an upcoming NHL game and there are loads of markets listed – more than pretty much anywhere else. For the smaller leagues that reduces a bit more, which is understandable. Overall, I think this is better than most from Met Gaming.

Met Gaming Greyhound Betting

Met Gaming has a pretty limited greyhound section within its library, with the day’s meets, with some ante post stuff. There isn’t a great deal beyond that, plus there is no live streaming or Best Odds Guaranteed, so it wouldn’t surprise me if greyhound fans look elsewhere.

Met Gaming Darts Betting

By Matt Edgar, professional darts player – In terms of darts betting sites in the UK, Met Gaming has some ups and downs. The outrights on future events are mightily impressive, but once you click through to the match ups, the actual number of markets available is quite small, and I can’t stack any bets within that. Maybe they increase the market number and variety closer to the time of the match, but I’d definitely like to see more earlier on.

Met Gaming Snooker Betting

By Steve Madgwick - As with the best snooker betting sites, there are markets for a few different tournaments, including the World Championships and the Champions League. At the time of the review we’re slap bang in the middle of the World Championships and generally the coverage is about average. As I’ve mentioned above, Met Gaming doesn’t have a lot of promotions, and that means nothing in the way of price boosts even for the biggest event in the sport unfortunately.

Met Gaming Rugby Betting (Union & League)

By Luke Bradshaw Lee - This has pretty much every competition – domestic and international – that you’d want to bet on here, which is fantastic. And that goes for rugby union and rugby league. If I were being super picky it would be great to see the Japanese league here, given how popular it is becoming, but that is me being hyper critical because overall, this is excellent event coverage compared to other bookies. What lets it down, however, and seems at odds with other sports, is market depth per game isn’t great. See how they compare to our best Rugby betting sites.

Met Gaming Cricket Betting

By James Banting - This isn’t bad at all, because Met Gaming offers all the competitions that I’d expect to see, plus a few more in addition to that – not everywhere covers the Oman D10 League, for example. I also love how many markets are available here for each game, assuming it’s not miles away in the future before teams are announced etc.

Met Gaming Tennis Betting

By James Banting - At the time of review their tennis section has 215 different tennis markets to bet on, which is fantastic. These games obviously cover the world, with the Grand Slams right down to smaller Challenger events. The odds are really good, and there’s plenty of markets, but I’d like to see more in-play markets. There’s no live streaming, but the stats feature is a lot better than most other sportsbooks. See if they make it into the top 10 tennis betting sites on OLBG.

Met Gaming Golf Betting

By James Banting - Met Gaming’s golf offering is a little disappointing. There are only markets for the majors and the Ryder Cup, and those are just basic outrights. There are a few minor tournaments happening right now, or due to start soon, such as the China Open, and none of these are listed in any form, and there are even some upcoming LIV events missing, too. I’d like to see a good bit more for me to consider using them regularly.

Met Gaming Motorsports Betting

By Andy Powell - The motor sports here are okay. Everything is it’s own thing, rather than housed under a “motor sports” banner, but I can see Formula 1, obviously, on top of Speedway and Indy racing. There’s nothing in the way of bikes, such as MotoGP, or any NASCAR, which is a little annoying, especially when something as niche as stock car racing is included. Overall I am impressed with the detail in the Formula 1 markets, and if I ever choose to make a stock car bet I know where to come.

Met Gaming Boxing Betting

By Frank Monkhouse former professional boxer - There’s lots of boxing bouts to get stuck into here, and the markets look dependent on timings. Those this weekend and over the next few weeks have an okay offering, whereas the further away they get the less markets on offer. That’s understandable, and I wouldn’t expect to find round by round and the like for fights that are months away, but I would definitely like more options for big bouts this weekend, and that’s definitely limited based on my experience with Met Gaming.

Met Gaming Other Sports Betting

Whilst these sports might sound very niche, there is still a large enough market for fans, and millions of them in the UK, so good coverage of niche sports and events is key to be reviewed on OLBG; let’s dig in a bit further.

Handball Betting

Betting on handball at Met Gaming looks very impressive. There’s actually over 80 games to bet on at the time of review, and that’s way more than most bookies. There aren’t loads of markets per game, but the odds are great and there are competitions in Bahrain, Estonia, Iceland, Egypt and more listed. Handball is increasingly popular and Met Gaming looks to be struggling in terms of providing a platform for punters to bet on various handball events and tournaments worldwide.

Cycling Betting

Met Gaming offers betting on cycling for sports bettors who like to dabble in cycling betting, and comparing it with others out there it’s what we’d expect. There isn’t a load of markets, but that’s true of anywhere to be honest. What you can get is odds on next year’s Tour de France winner, plus the Classics like the Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix and Milan-San Remo.

Aussie Rules Football Betting

As far as Met Gaming is concerned, their event coverage is pretty standard – they have most parts covered. The games, competitions and odds are good, but the actual list of markets isn’t huge per game. It’s not as great as some others out there, but overall they are still a solid option.

Political Betting

By Nigel Skinner - Met Gaming houses its political betting under “Specials”, along with Entertainment. The political betting is fine, maybe a little limited perhaps. There are some US Presidential markets, understandably, and odds on the next Mayor of London, but it diminishes after that. There is some UK General Election markets, but it’s still only a smattering when compared to other bookmakers and what they offer at the same time.

Entertainment and Specials Betting

By Jake Ashton - This is a bit basic from Met Gaming, with some music, award ceremonies and TV programmes covered. It’s tricky trying to work out what determines the offering because things like The Oscars and BAFTAs make sense, but Big Brother Brazil and Festival Di SanRemo seem a little out of place.

Esports Betting

The esports betting at Met Gaming is very good. Don’t expect to find an “Esports” option in the main menu, as all different games have their own navigation. THere’s a really good selection here, with Counter-Strike, Dota 2, League of Legends, Starcraft, Valorant and Call of Duty. Each game is represented well – there are nearly 100 markets for Valorant alone at the time of writing.

Virtual Sports

Met Gaming offers no virtual sports betting at the time of this review.

Casino

Met Gaming does have casino, which is incredibly easy to find their casino offering from their sportsbook, with banners across the top. They also have some bonuses and offers that lead to casino spins should you win sportsbook bets. Check our Casino Sites page for dedicated new online casinos and slot sites.

Met Gaming Account Opening Process

A reassuringly easy process. At the top-right of the screen Met Gaming has their “Open Account” button. Bettors just need to select this and follow the simple steps as guided through. You’ll be asked for the usual information – name, date of birth, address etc – and once complete be sent a verification email. Clicking this from your inbox will redirect you to the site, and then you’re free to get betting.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

I’m surprised that there is no app, because some other Aspire Global brands have apps that work well and that I like. That said, I do like the user experience of Met Gaming, and I think the same for their other sportsbooks that use the same interface. It can take a little getting used to – especially the way the menu drops down, rather than takes you through to another page, but once you get the hang of it I think it works really well, and does a great job of conveying what is available very quickly. Also, once you realise you can add markets, then minimise or delete, from your home dashboard, just like you do with tabs on your internet browser, you really start to move around the site efficiently.

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to Met Gaming I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer, and I used their bet builder feature, which was very indeed.

Managing your account

As mentioned above, the design really helps this along. On the desktop version, it’s stuff to the  left of the screen. On the app, it’s all at the bottom, with just the login at the top. I haven’t experienced any issues logging in, or finding customer service options, either. Overall, it feels like Met Gaming has got this part nailed.

Met Gaming Responsible Gambling Features

As with all online betting companies, responsible gambling should be and will be an essential element of the service provided.

Expect KYC procedures and document supply as a matter-of-course, to confirm your account after you have deposited a certain level of funds and in the event of any large wins.

You can set limits for yourself across depositing options and daily staking options too, so you can set your levels and keep control of your gambling.

Expect Met Gaming to contact you via your preferred communication method if there are suspicious activities on your account. This protects your account from being accessed by someone other than you and ensures you control your gambling activity. Met Gaming have a legal obligation to question your activity if they believe it to be suspicious.

As part of Met Gaming's commitment to safer gambling, they aim to make zero revenue from harmful gambling by the end of 2023.

Bookie’ Review Expert Contributing Team

Opinion, research and data collection for this Met Gaming review by

Met Gaming Review Summary

Bettors of particular sports should absolutely consider having an account with Met Gaming because there are simply markets here that you won’t find anywhere else, or at the very least, will struggle to find anywhere else beyond other Aspire sites.

For most major sports (although there are some exceptions) there are plenty more markets than most other bookies in the industry, and there are some very niche sports here that aren’t covered by the majority of competitors such as bandy, chess, lacrosse, water polo and winter sports. I’d 100% recommend Met Gaming for esports bettors, too.

It is worth noting, however, that there is absolutely nothing in the way of promotions beyond the sign up offer, and that will put people off. Really, you want a sportsbook to reward you if you use it regularly, and plenty do that quite easily. If that’s not a problem, however, then there’s a very good chance that players will find sports or events they’re after here, because they haven’t seen it elsewhere, and end up loving Met Gaming as a result.
