Windsor 5.40

Safarhi

Alan King's inmate Safarhi who has yet to place in four starts but he took a keen hold on his handicap debut at Doncaster on his seasonal bow. But he will fare better with the benefit of of his latest run at Doncaster behind him when finishing 7 lengths behind Contrebasse running fifth of seven. Martin Harley has the reins.

Chickpea
Picking Chickpea in this class 6 handicap on good to firm as it is returning to the turf after having a run out on the all weather. And it did ok in the race before making it's debut on the all weather as it's last run out on turf was in a class 5 handicap off a rating of 53 and it finished 4th of 7 runners and the going for that race was good to firm.It is down 5 lbs from it's last run out on turf as it is now on a rating of 48 and it moves down in class from that race as well as this is a class 6 race.Jockey Tom Marquand has had 9 winners from 50 rides in the last 2 weeks and he has done ok here in the last 5 years with a strike rate of 11%.

Star of assisi
The racing post spotlight describes this as a bad race so it may not take much winning and a chance is taken on the ryan entry to be the star of the show. Lightly raced it put in its best effort so far when finishing in third place last time out keeping on well over the past couple of furlongs. Nicola currie was in the saddle but mosse takes over, he has had four winners from seventeen rides at the course

Iconic Boy

trained by Alexandra Dunn, , with many of the other runners stepping up in distance in this contest, it would be more of a lottery to find the winner, and the smart bet would be to stick with the fav, however this selection has at least ran todays distance, but with best form to date was 3rd place, over 11 furlongs, on the aw track, steps up to around 11.5 furlongs for todays contest, has ran on good to firm ground before, Rossa Ryan(3) is retained , has ew appeal

MAKIN IT

Luke Morris had some decent results, yesterday and he takes the ride, today. This horse is nicely weighted and well treated by the handicapper. The draw will not play any significant part over this distance. The ground looks favourable. The trainer has decided to use the visor for the first time and this could help, that will be the reason for trying it. If this horse wins, it could be a surprise, but she is only a 3 year old, so improvement is possible and will be needed.

STAR OF ASSISI

Ran its best race to date over this trip at Great Leighs last time, and stuck to the task really well, so worth a go on turf with conditions likely suit, and with Mosse on board and bottom weight to help, it should be in the mix.

MAKIN IT

This filly is in a field of runners that are suspect of showing potential winning form and the race of class six nature is a poor one and question marks over staying ability with all ad including my selection.

What caught my eye about this entry from William Knight yard who has sent this out from his stable in Patching West Sussex is his only runner here and he has Luke Morris booked to ride, which Luke was on her at Lingfield last June and was sixth of nine that day on the all weather.

Staying could be her compared to the rest of the field as she is by Derby winner North Light and if those genes are running through her veins she could be capable of landing a race of this class.
She has raced the last twice over this sort of trip and never shined in both but she could shine here with the view that a lot here are going through there paces and may need the ground to change considerably to give them a chance of winning.
MAKIN IT could be going to the front and Luke Morris can get the fractions right and lead all the way and getting a breather into her on the bend and then kicking again and being all out to hold on at the line for a good price winner.

17.40 Windsor
SAFHARI
The horse has only had four runs and its last was over the 12f distance in a higher level Class 5 at Doncaster. It finished fifth, beaten 6.75 lengths, but only weakened in the final furlong. It's down from a mark of 56 to 54. Not all the field will probably get the distance, so it looks to have a decent chance of at least making the placings, and being lightly raced, can improve

DUTCH COED

Nigel Tinkler had a rich vein of form with winners appearing around a month ago and now his stable runners are striking once more and this six year old could be providing another solid run for the stable.
This is an apprentice race and I like top weights here and this one is two pounds lower than the top weighted Vigee Le Brun, with that one looking not to be in form.
This one won at Hamilton and done the job well as if more to come, however his run at Newcastle was rather poor but he showed something at Hamilton again, when only beaten two lengths.
Today, could be a good chance for apprentice Faye McManoman to ride a winner and can be getting her horse settled and hopefully powering through at the business end for a good result.
