Poyle Vinnie - After not winning in last 17 starts. PV has been under the new guidance of Mrs R Carr, and is fairing a lot better. New stable are looking for added edge and the 8yo runs in blinkers for the first time. Placed 2 on good to firm last time out so he is suited to the ground. Could be today when he breaks his duck

EAST STREET REVIEW

The horses running from this stall made a good impression yesterday and East Street Review has good form here at York winning twice in big fields including a win from 20 runners in his penultimate race in October. Has been known to place in his first race after a lay off. Duran Fentiman has been in the plate for all of his races bar three so knows his horse well and he has ridden for this trainer 6 times in this last fortnight with one win and 3 places. The majority of East Street Reviews races have been over 5f but has placed over 6f so should have something left in the tank at the end. Copes well with the going as has placed in all of his races on GF.

Good luck all :hope:

Desert Law

Desert Law is plenty high enough n the weights and turned 10 could have seen better days. However, he has won at York last year in a very similar race, interestingly under the jockey who is on board today, who gets on again for the first time since. Paul Midgeley has a 17% strike rate in the last 14 days which is a nice return without setting the world alight. Won on Good to Firm first time out last season. First run deifntiely had the look of a race that was needed and second time out was closer than the 6th place suggests, only 3L down and didn't look like he was ever really extended. Had an excellent season last year and 95 is still 6 lbs lower than his highest winning mark so if he is having a late blossoming twilight of his career there is a chance he could be set to improve again today.

14.20 York
LINE OF REASON
The horse has previously won over the course and distance and is now mostly a Class 1 and Class 2 contender. Last season it was racing off a high of 104 on turf. It has plummeted down the weights and its mark today is 92. It probably hated the heavy going on its last run at Musselburgh. Last June, it won a Class 2--also at Musselburgh--over the 5 furlong distance on good to firm going off a mark of 97. Its CD win came way back in 2014, but that was off today's mark of 92.

DESERT LAW

He is a course winner and has won over this distance. Luke Morris is brought back to take the reins and he was on board for his last win. He looks to be pleasantly weighted and handicapped. He has a middle draw and there have been plenty of winners from the middle stalls, in the past. The ground, today, looks suitable to his needs. A decent chance at a decent price.

COPPER KNIGHT
3 wins from just a total of 14 lifetime races Won over cd last year off 1lb lower and just seems the type of horse to improve again this season Pretty big odds really when you consider the horse has proven already that he runs well fresh and has that important cd form well handicapped with conditions on his side

Making Miracles
Picking Making Miracles in this race as the going for this race is good to firm and i think this horse should suit as it has ran just once on good to firm and it placed in 2nd place in a class 3 maiden race at Newmarket last year.It has ran a total of 4 times on turf in flat races and it has managed to place in 3 of them so it has ran relatively well in them.Trainer M.Johnston has had 15 winners in the last 2 weeks from 76 runners giving him a strike rate of 19% and jockey S De Sousa is a decant jockey.

Ralph Beckett sends the improving VICTORY CHIME here for this.
After 3 runs over a mile he stepped up to 1m2 on handicap debut. That race garnered his first win and he is now stepping up another quarter mile which looks likely to be an opportunity for further development

Stable had a winner this evening.

Firby......from James Bethell yard the 3yo has been placed twice in six start with those two placed finishes came in his last two races this season with a step up in distance to 1m 2f as his four runs as 2yo was over 7f, The yard are stepping him up again to 1m 4f after showing good progress when only beaten in last 75 yards at Redcar 1m 2f GF after taking lead at 1f pole but edged right and finished 3rd beaten 3/4 length,

The yard had 15 days to do some extra speed and stamina work and with going in his favour with Andrew Elliott in saddle there could be more improvement to come,
