Happy New Year & here's hoping good health & prosperity to all .

No fancy write ups with 8 UK & Irish then US to wade through 🤪

1245 Fakenham - CLONDAW BISTO 12/1 bet365 ew ( 2 )
Only CD winner in the field , a big plus point at this quirky course . :lose: pulled up , was being ridden after 2f in this 29f race .

225 Exeter - TIDE TIMES 17/2 ew sky ( 4 ) 3rd :win:

Bit boring but longest traveller making the 318 mile round trip & was keeping on at M.Rasen 17 days ago .

328 Southwell - RESTLESS ENDEAVOUR 12/1 ew bet365 ( 4 ) 4th :win:

M.Appleby has won the last 2 renewals of this race .
J.Goldie runs Be Proud making the 564 mile round trip , fair play to all the stable lads / lasses grooms etc.... setting off at silly o'clock to head to race tracks up & down the country today 👍

Enjoy Cheltenham & Musselburgh on the box , J . McConnell has a good chance with MERITORIOUS I'm the 12.30 in Scotland's premier course & W.Mullins sends STORMY IRELAND over to jumps HQ in the 3.10 , just watching briefs for me at both courses .

Grrr , can't believe I didn't back the only Irish raider on today's Cheltenham card W.Mullins Stormy Ireland who romped home at 4/1 .

happy new year to all..i could have selected about 8 today and i am not naming them!!

2.35 Ch Sir Robbie 33/1

I have sneaking suspicion that Sir Robbie can go well in the soft, he has had 4 runs on proper soft going and won one placed in two and 4th in the other. His record on GS is not great so perhaps influencing his price. He has had 3 runs for the new trainer, resulting in two 3rds and a last, he should strip fitter for his return race and 124 is manageable mark. EW

Yesterday was a bit frustrating so I have done 4 today in an EW lucky fifteen.

12.45 A Rainy city 25/1
Last good run was a win at Perth in Aug 2019, then off for 522 days and hasn’t done anything untul his run last time out, where he was 5th of 9 in this grade, he went into 2nd place three out in that race over 3 miles before weakening and losing two places before the last. Dropped 4 furlongs and 3 lbs to mark of 86, he can outrun his big odds.

1.10 p Another mystery 12/1
2nd run under rules and first over hurdles, made all in point and should improve for the bumper run when weakening from two out. Might make a place.

1.45 p Coillte Eile 16/1
3 runs for the new trainer and his last run wasn’t too bad finishing 6th at Uttoxeter in this grade weakening from two out, he is dropped in trip by 2 furlongs and that should help. He was running off 106 when he arrived at the stable ran 3rd off 108 in a class 3 at Ascot Nov last year. Off 95 today with the jockey taking off 5, he can go close.

3.30 P Whitlock 40/1

Seems overpriced at 40/1 3 rd run back after WS , his run two starts ago here wasn’t too bad when 3rd of 7 he is 5lb lower than that run, perhaps he can improve a little on that and perhaps make place.

It’s been over a decade, but thought id drop in with a couple of selections for tomorrow. Hope you’ve all been keeping well.

Lingfield 12:40 WELOOF (NAP)
Weloof holds Rainbow Mirage at these revised weights following their previous meeting over C&D especially now running over a mile, 3lb below highest winning mark. Spring Romance remains on a nice mark, but upped 2f, and that may be just too much here given track record. Prince Rock is 3lb higher than highest winning mark, and although expected to fair well here, will surely be in the handicappers grip. One Step Beyond is 1lb below highest winning mark today, but the visor is off again, and while 1m has seemed to suit, its been one excuse after another, although it would be no surprise to see more from this one, more is needed to back this time. Eeevilyn Drew is back down to a winning mark, and this left hand track should help, but recent runs over jumps and on the left handed Southwell track didn’t ignite and is best avoided. Bahia Star is 2lb above his turf victory last term and an unexposed type, with more to come if they have him fit again. Plymouth Rock has been tailed off more than in contention, and you have to wonder whether there is any enthusiasm left for racing now, Hes a Latchico’s form of last race had 2 67 winners in behind, but hasn’t shaped up as though a 1m trip is ideal, with much more a 6f horse for the future. Breguet Boy is on an attractive mark, and could be dangerous here. Divine Messenger should fair better back down to a mile, on an attractive mark, but long losing runs continue, while Star of Velour looks to be high in the handicap. Its WELOOF who gets the nod, in receipt of a 7lb swing from Rainbow Mirage, over this trip and being a C&D winner, both now in receipt of a 3lb claim allowance, that could really be handy.

Lingfield 3:10 Cuban Hope (NB)
CUBAN HOPE is a very interesting runner, a former Bolger inmate who has won 4 of his races over the 1m2f trip, including a Fairyhouse handicap off a mark of 80, and winning on the AW tracks in Ireland off 65, and here at 64. A boxing day run over 1m4f, he now drops back to 1m2f where he had most of his success across the sea. A Visor is now applied, and Hayley Turner takes over in the saddle, with an opportunity presented this could be the race that gets him back on track on the flat.

Wolves 6:30 Aljari
ALJARI is selected to get back to winning ways today, off what is a very nice mark of 81, his last win off 92, but showed more of old self last time, and after a break looks as though the inform Botti yard can take this where options are limited. Dylan Hogan takes the ride, who is 2/5 including 1 for Botti. Gelded, Wind Surgery and then given a break after runs. He reappears off a competitive mark, and looks the one to beat in this contest.

Kindest Regards
HRE

HRE - 10 years!! I am off to have look at them. Hopefully seee you again before 2032 :D

Two places yesterday and two picks today 2 x EW sings and and EW dble

2.30 M Wilhelm Vonvester 18/1

Won two starts ago off 92 over this distance, next time out wasn’t ridden to give the horse a chance with the trainer stating that the jockey should have done more. This should suit today and 18/1 seems a nice EW price.

7.00 W Zero Hour 14/1 EW

Very rare flat runner for D Mc cain, into handicap for the first time off 47, when last seen he was 2 length behind a horse that won off 65 last time out. Although TBF he was length ahead of a horse that came out and was last of 10 off 46. That day Zero swerved at the start was bumped, he disputed the leaf one furlong out and was beaten into third. I think he will go very well off this mark.

3 today in an EW patent,

1.15 H Unfinished business 40/1
One run so far and didn’t do a great deal, but a couple of runners have come out of the race and gone well, that was a class 3 and this might suit a bit better, she could outrun big odds.

1.45 H Global harmony 25/1

Global has had two runs over fences in Nov and Dec, reportedly long confidence last time out when she PU, dropped a few pound and is returned to hurdles on her last winning mark, she will Ava even schooled at home and should be competitive.

3.20 h On time 14/1
Outpaced in a bumper on Heavy going after making headway , starting in this grade and upped to two miles 5 and on better ground she can go well.

No good at all yesterday I have done 4 at FL today in an ew lucky 15.

12.40 Pageant material 14/1

pageant can contest for a place, last time out on heavy going here over 2 miles 4 she was in touch 3 out and managed 4th of 8, the race before has produced a couple of winners albeit she was well behind them, back to two miles today with the jockey taking off a useful 5lb EW chances

1.10 Glance back 16/1

Glance is a winner on Heavy going , his last win was in march 2020 off 107, he has struggled since then but last time out was bit better 4th of 12 off 90 with this jockey in the saddle. Down another 4lb he can contest for little further today on his 3rd run back after a break of 146 days.

3.25 Echo Watt 7/1

echo won off 113 on heavy going in a class 4 at bangor last year and hasn’t reproduced that since, his 3rd last time out off 110 was his best run since the win, today he is off 107 and he can be competitive on his 3rd run after break.

4.00 bamford edge 16/1

Sent off favourite last time out on debut Bamford ran green he led until 5 out and then weakened into last , today with a 7lb claimer up and hoping he will strip fitter i think bamford could sneak second place.

Thanks Desijo getting the first one brings the hopes up, the other 3 were no good at all :)

Today 3 from Chepstow, D Pipe has five at the meeting and uses 3 jockeys , i am taking his two with the 7lb claimer up. also one from G Moore who has his string in green form EW patent

12.05 CH Heure De Gloire 14/1
Pipe has his 7lb claimer up on this ex french mare, she won her only run in France and then came 2nd on debut in the UK in a class 4. She had WS after that and then has been highly tried, class 1 at Sandown and class 2 at lingfield last time out. She is ridden from the front and last time out lasted until two out, a dropping mark and easier company can see her contest the places.

14.50 CH Early Du Lemo 13/2

Gary Moore has his horses in great form and Early drops to a class 4 for the first time since he won one at Lingfield, he is a risky in that he can make mistakes and fall, last time out still going well in a class 3 at Newbury he did just that 4 out. If he stands up he can contest.

15.20 CH Affoburg 25/1

His last race in France when he was 5th making no impression was a hot little race, 3 of the 4 horses in front have come out and won, the horse 7 lengths in front came out and won a 38k race then came 3rd in a group3. Pipe puts his good 7lb claimer up, the horse goes in the ground could outrun 25/1.
