Leicester 3.55

Trainer Martin Keighley .... ..... ..... ..... ...... ...> Jockey Harry Stock( 7lbs )

A Martin Keighley trained 5 year old who has had 6 races over the hurdles winning once and has finished 3rd once. His win came on his debut for this trainer in Dec 2016 in a class 4 maiden hurdle at Ffos Las over 2 miles on soft going, when made odds-on fav. His last 2 races have been both on the course at Leicester both ridden by today's jockey Harry Stock, where he finished 3rd in a class 5 selling stakes over 2m 4 1/2f on soft going , having every chance 3 flights out to same on the same pace over the final flight. He was upped to a class 3 handicap hurdle last time out 20 day's ago over 1m 7 1/2f on heavy going where again he made headway 3 flights out, only staying on the same pace finishing 6th of the 12 runners beaten 10 1/2 lengths. He back downto a classs 4 handicap hurdle over 1m 7 1/2f on heavy going, this gelding has won a couple of times on the flat, and has won over this distance over the hurdles,he is one of the younger horses in this race and could still improve , has a e/w shout in this race today.

What's Up Rory

trained by Richard Price ,this selection has some solid form over 16 furlongs , on soft ground, has won at a mark of 90. over this distance, 3 races ago, races just short of 16 furlong in todays contest, races off a 90 mark, Liam Heard is retained has ew appeal.

dark invader
a close eye on the market may be the order of the day as favourites have a good record in handicap hurdle races at the track returning over twelve points profit to level stakes over the past five years. the evan williams runner is in pole position at the moment and making its debut in a handicap hopefully goes off at a reasonable mark. the trainer was in the winners enclosure at hereford on monday which is a good sign. the horse has weakened on the run in on its last two runs at ffos las so the drop back in trip could be it a better chance. top course jockey, richard johnson, twenty three per cent strike rate, is called upon to lead the charge

leicester 3.55

hear the chimes

A 9yr old gelding currently with trainer Shawn Harris who's probably better known as a flat trainer and looks to have had just the one winner over timber this campaign so sadly needing a change of fortune. Has kept faith with the horse since it was a 5yr old which might suggest he has seen something more than form figures suggest. Anyway the horse has won 2 of his 23 races the first being in March 2015 when contesting a Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon over 2m on soft ground, winning by 8L after travelling well throughout. The second win at Ludlow also on soft ground in a Class 4 Handicap Hurdle after challenging over the last hurdle to win by 2L. Only ever had one run on heavy-ish ground but didn't disgrace himself. Jack Quinian booked to ride again.

No decent recent form, but today's jockey has ridden him to a 2nd and a 3rd, previously. He is the bottom weight and well handicapped. Today's jockey has a 5lb claim, so weights are definitely favourable. He has been solely a hurdler, since his move to his current stable, prior to that he was a flat horse, with a reasonable turn of speed. He has had some decent runs over the hurdles. The drop back in distance could be to his liking. He will need to run to his best and have a lot of luck to win this but will be of a price that I need. Roll on the February comp.

Good recent run over slightly further when fading late on
This shorter trip could be ideal
Trainer and jockey both in good recent form
Distance a plus and ground conditions are ok
Quite hopeful for some points in a poor race with very little form :D

A few pulling up in the home straight as a long January takes its toll. However, we had a storming finish as JonnyH447 was starting to run out of petrol on the run in and petethebet and Delboy980 were charging after him but the winner had done enough work in the early parts of the race with some great selections. Full update on page 1. Any scoring issues please raise them in the next 24 hours before I submit the prizes to be paid. if you've won a prize please allow up to 30 days for it to show on your account (but hopefully it'll show up sooner).
