1.10 Newbury

TERRY THE FISH

Trainer Jonjo O'Neill .... .... ... .... ... ... .... ...> Jockey Killian Moore (3lbs)

A Jonjo O'Neill trained 5 year old who has had 8 races over the hurdles , winning 3 times and has finished in the frame twice. His 3 wins came on the bounce all ridden by Aidan Coleman all over 2m 71/2f on good going winning a class 4 handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter when made fav by 5 lengths. He was only just beaten last time out when up to a class 3 handicap hurdle over 2m 7f on good going at Worcester, when finishing 2nd beaten 1/2 a length by the fav. He is upped again to a class 2 handicap over 3 miles on good to soft going, and has Killian Moore in the saddle claiming 3 lbs. This gelding is progressing well this year, this is another step up in class, and is racing a stone lighter than last time out, winner over the distance has a good e/w shout in this race today.

haha a proper race.... jumps and everything!

CAPTAIN BUCK'S might have been expected to feature over the bigger obstacles, but Paul Nicholls is sticking with the hurdles and who am I to argue

2 wins and 2 seconds from his 5 efforts so far; last time out he stepped up to class 3 and found a couple too good in a small field with the race not being truly run. Up now to C2 he also steps up to 3 miles for the first time and this shold play to his strengths as he has the look of a thorough stayer

He is also entered at Ffos Las on Sunday but I think Nicholls may have the Pertemps final in mind for him and I am expecting a decent effort today

good to Soft going will suit, Sam Twiston-Davies is on board and if he isn't good enough today I suspect the chasing campaign will start

JUST MILLY

Although this race is littered with decent types from elite stables this mare is fit, very consistent and without as many question marks as the "sexier" ones. Only had seven starts over sticks and since winning a novice hurdle over 2m3f, in a pretty impressive fashion, has only been beaten more than a couple of lengths once. Close second last time over today's trip off a pound lower than today's mark of 124. Most significant, this never ending straight should suit her "pick them off" style, plus with a tidy 7lb claimer up carries a featherweight of 10-1 (been lugging around 11+ of late).

NEWBURY 1.10 DELL ARCA

The D Pipe stable has shown signs of a return to form in the last few days after a dismal start to the season by his high standards so after a recent run over three miles on good ground at Cheltenham when beaten 5 1/2 lengths by Thomas Campbell sure to have sharpened him up he should be able to make the frame at least with T Scudamore onboard

TERRY THE FISH

He is a progressive horse, with his last 5 runs ending in the frame. He had an excellent 2nd place LTO, last month. He is a distance winner. He has a slight raise in the handicap but has a drop in the weights. He has a decent 3lb claimer to assist. He hurdles well enough to be up with the leaders at the run in and stands an excellent chance of, at least, a place. Any concerns would be the going, although he has been placed on the soft ground.

minella on line
A speculative punt on a horse that goes well after a break from the track, in its past three attempts it has won twice, both of them since moving to the Oliver Sherwood yard. The stable have found some form with two winners from nine runners since the start of this month. May appreciate the return to hurdles after an abortive try over the bigger fences last time out. Has won at the trip and has a good record on similar going, three wins and seven places from sixteen outings

TOBEFAIR

Tobefair has an impressive record over hurdles since coming to this trainer winning all of his races bar one which was a Listed race including at this level. Has won over further and has won on good and soft. Trevor Whelan retains the ride and has been aboard for all of Tovefair's wins.

Good luck all :win:

Mrs Grass

Loves this venue. Is on a high mark for it’s career at 83 but has won off 78 here and placed off that mark more recently too. Has won here three times and placed a few times too. Good claimer who knows he horse well takes off 5lb, conditions and distance suit fine.

Ange Des Malberaux

Place twice in his last 4 runs.
Carrying 11-7, claimer taken off -5.
Handles any trip between 17f & 21f.
Won at Cart on shorter trip of 17f, end of July,
on soft going, 5lbs lighter will help and hope run
well and get placed. :hope:

BINGO D’OLIVATE

Big outsider but this one form can be figured with in a race of this nature.

This six year old has own one from thirteen outings.

His racing has been in novice, class three and four handicaps and as his record show he has struggled to be a strong player.

Today, he is now down to a class five handicap and with him in this class his rating mark drops to a figure that allows him to do so.
His mark now 99 which is twenty pounds lower than what he has raced off in past.

Derek Fox in the plate and he could get something out of this horse in a race where form of all are questionable.
