CATTERICK 2.10: OUR CHARLIE BROWN

Has won 2 of his 3 appearances over course and distance and jockey James Sullivan seems to get on really well with him, winning 4/8 and placing on 2 other occasions. Our Charlie Brown is also proven on this ground so the testing conditions won't be an issue. His last course and distance win came off a rating of 74 only last month and he's only 1lb higher than that today.

CHEPSTOW 2.20: PARLOUR MAID

She won when last seen in May over a similar distance and judging by the way she was declared as a non runner in June because of the fast ground they have been waiting for softer conditions before running her again. She's up 8lb due to her win LTO but not many in this race have shown much over hurdles so she should be capable of taking it. The horse is owned by the trainer and I'm presuming it's his son (or other relative) in the saddle today so this horse clearly has a great attachment to the family.

ROYAL CONNOISSEUR

Finished well from off the pace last couple of starts (rated 71), one over today's trip the other at six furlongs. Drops to a mark of 70 (although 1lb wrong at the weights) after last winning at this track, a year ago, over six furlongs off 77. Wins have come in today's forecast soft conditions. Top stable jockey takes over today, for top yard, after a smorgasbord of claimers.

PRINCESS ROANIA

Looks like a bit of a dodge pot and certainly a slowboat plodder, however, has dropped to a mark of 94 from 100-odd. Looked like she was travelling quite well last time over 2m4f before running on the spot inside the last couple of furlongs, maybe suggesting the step back in trip will benefit (incidentally has a couple of pound pull with today's favourite/2nd fav who took forever to get past her that day and would have never won over 2m). The trainer/jock have decent place form at the track.

2.10 Catterick

ROYAL CONNOISSEUR

He has won on this course, albeit over 6f. He is yet to conquer the 7f, but could be ready for this trip, now. He is very nicely weighted and not hit by the handicapper. He has won on the soft ground, which will suit him, today. Hanagan is back in the saddle and he has had some good wins, lately, with two at Leicester, yesterday, for the Fahey stable.

2.20 Chepstow

CHICA RAPIDA

This 5 year old has not yet won a race but has been placed in a hurdle race, with today's jockey in the saddle. The carry the same weight, today and the going is similar. She needs to improve, but is young enough and has the capability to do so. She is nicely treated on her handicap debut. She has a small chance at the big price that I need.

Catt 210 Tatlisu
The Fahey yard had three winners yesterday and they have a twenty three per cent strike rate a this track so their runners today may be worth a second glance. The horse arrives in good form having already won a couple of times this season and was runner up last time out. Has won at the distance and on similar going. Has some decent speed ratings in the book

Chep 220 Hartside
The horse has been producing some poor results but conditions may be fine for a better effort. Has won five times on similar going, and five times at the distance. Was second place off a nine pound higher handicap figure in February, pipped on the line after edging right. A repeat performance could give hopeful backers a run for their dosh

2.10 Catterick

ROYAL CONNOISSEUR

Hasn't made a successful step up from 6 to 7 yet, but has been placed on his efforts over this longer trip.

Winner at 6 and recent form suggests this longer trip may now be the right one

Paul Hanagan board on bottom weight suggesting that the stable might view this one as their best chance.

2.20 Chepstow

DALAMAN

Has moved yards from Tim Vaughan to Neil Mulholland, and tom Scudamore takes the ride. Might be struggling for pace over this trip on fast ground but the conditions will work in his favour and if they were worried about eh trip the new stable could have easily found another race 2 or 3 furlongs longer. I smell a plot.

2.10 Catterick
OUR CHARLIE BROWN
The horse has previously won over the course and distance (twice) and is coming back down the weights. Its last CD win was in September, in a Class 4 on good to soft. It won off a mark of 74 and is back on that mark today. The margin of victory was 1 length.

2.20 Chepstow
SHADOW BLUE
Taking a chance that the horse is race fit and ready. It ended last season by finishing fourth over 2 miles here at Chepstow on soft going. It was beaten by less than 3 lengths off a mark of 89. It's racing off the same mark today with the same jockey---Mr G. Treacy--- again claiming 7 pounds.

HAMMER GUN

this selection is no stranger, to the aw track, has been racing over the distances of 7-8 furlongs, last few races, has mixed bag of form, with two 4th place finishes in last few races, returns to the turf in todays event, over 7 furlongs, there is a small question mark, on ground, no stranger to class 3 racing, drops to a class 4 in todays contest. Patrick Mathers is retained and has ew appeal.

UJAGAR

this selection has a very impressive pedigree, and more that one, top jockey has raced on this horse, last few races have been over the distance of 17- 23 furlongs, with poor results, returns to 16 furlongs for todays contest, has a 3rd place finish at 16.5 furlongs, four races ago, question mark on ground, Liam Treadwell is in the saddle, and has ew appeal.

catterick 2.10

royal connoisseur

Wonderful chance here for the Richard Fahey 6yr old to win his first race of the season off bottom weight. Has won 6 races on turf with 9 minor placings. Has won in Class 4 albeit over 6f, and acts on any going. Think he should be able to last 7f as some of the 6f races he's contested he's been running on. Trainer and jockey Paul Hanagan both on form. Interesting.

chepstow 2.20

hartside

Last chance saloon so go for an outsider. Hartside has family connections via owner, trainer and jockey. The 8yr old family pet has won 5 hurdle races and has 17 places. Not won for a long time but his 9th of 13 last time out is encouraging. Appears to act on most goings. Need to find his form but has had a pipe opener, and 2m is his distance.

Dicky's Picks:
2.10 Catt - Mujassam
As with many of the field hes a distance winner who ran well two runs ago over 6f on heavy going finishing 2nd of 10
beaten only a neck under 9st 7lb. Last run was over 7f at Yarmouth on good ground where he finished well beaten but
may prefer softer going and jockey D.Nolan is replaced today by D.Tudhope with the easy underfoot conditions today
suiting. The winner of this race last year was drawn high so his stall 13 draw could be a plus.

2.20 Chep - Princess Roania
Last run was only 14 days ago over 2m 4f where she made headway 3 out and had every chance but had "no extra"
from last. The run before last was over 2m 5f so interesting shes dropped to 2 miles today so soon after her last run.
Worth taking the favourite Black Buble on as he hasn't run for 169 days in which he didn't get round. Rif Raftou drops in
trip and can be given a chance but looks no value around 4/1.
