ALDERBROOK LAD

50% of his Chase races have ended in the frame. He is yet to win over this distance, but ran a good second place, at Cartmel, in July, when he was beaten by a horse being ridden by today's jockey. Becky Smith rides in all 3 disciplines, but it is her Chase performances that have produced the best results, She, also, brings a 7lb claim with her. The ground looks to be fine. He is reasonably weighted and nicely handicapped, especially with the 7lb claim. He was not given a very good ride, LTO, with a very mediocre amateur jockey. He should get a much better ride, today. He has a chance, at a decent price, which I need, to get me anywhere near to the experts, at the top of this competition.

GAS LINE BOY

Performed incredibly well at 10 years old last season and capped it off by finishing 5th in the Grand National in April. He's an incredibly reliable jumper and will stay no problem and the lay off shouldn't be an issue as he's ran well after previously. Since being switched to Ian Williams in March 2016 he has hardly put a foot wrong and has gone well in higher class races than this and at distances ranging from 2m6f to 4m2f

aintree 1.50

no planning

A 10 year old from the Sue Smith yard that's been quite consistent over the years, winning 7 chases and 3 hurdle races. Has won in Class 2, same as todays race, has also won at 3m 1f and acts on any going. Had a run over hurdles last time out to blow away any cobwebs and is re-united with jockey Sean Quinian who has won on him a couple of times. Might be a bit over priced at the current 22/1 and certainly worth a small Each Way.

ASTRACAD

Won first time up the last couple of seasons (both around this time of year). Pound lower today than last winning mark (131). Conditions fine. Distance a bit suspect, never won over this far but not that many goes. Trainer/jock in terrific form, bagged a couple of similar handicaps (I know this is a fossils race) over the weekend.

Costly Dream
Picking Costly Dream in this it has only had 1 run out in a class 4 bumper on heavy and it finished 6th of 11 but the going for this is good/good to soft in places and i think the better going will suit it more.It has a top jockey on board for this in R.Johnson and he has done well in the last 2 weeks having 9 winners from 49 races and he has a decant strike rate of just over 10% here in the last 5 years having 12 winners from 113 races here.Trainer P.J Hobbs has had 4 winners from 30 runners in the last 2 weeks and he has had 10 winners here in the last 5 years from 99 runners here so this horse could run for a place in this.

13.50 Aintree
NO PLANNING
The horse has already had a spin over hurdles this month, maybe to blow away the cobwebs. It has previously won over the distance. It did so last year at Ayr, winning by over 2 lengths off a mark of 132. On its penultimate run back in May, it raced over 3 miles at Uttoxeter in a Class 2 h'cap chase and finished second off the 131 mark, beaten only half a length. It's racing off 133 today

No Planning
An eleven year old won this race last year but that was just the second of that vintage in the past nine renewals, the other nine were all aged ten. A chance is taken on Sue Smiths runner getting the ten year olds back in the winners enclosure. The horse has won over todays three mile trip and has its ground today, seven wins on similar going. Has the advantage of a workout just eleven days ago in preparation for this event

CATTERICK 2.10 TATLISU

He is not the force of old but this R A Fahey trained gelding has won 8 times from five to seven furlongs on most types of ground so after only beaten 1 length by the J Butler trained Unforgiving Minute over seven furlongs at Wolverhampton 52 days ago he can make the frame at least with Connor Murtagh taking a valuable 5 pounds off

CHEPSTOW 2.20 BLACK BUBLE

It may be worth giving another chance to this A W Carroll trained gelding who although still a Maiden he was still to be asked for his effort when blundering and unseating his jockey two out so with conditions in his favour he could go well today with the booking of Sam Twiston-Davies a big plus

Catterrick 14:10

Shouranour....from Alan Brown yard the 7yo is a winner of six races from 7f to 1m on ground varying from good to firm to soft with two of those wins coming here over this distance off 78 and 82 mark on soft going this time last year in fact the that last win here was his 3r in a row ,

This season he's only one once this season in July at Ripon 1m soft off 83 mark which saw him rise to 86 mark but the next five races has saw poor runs and mark down to 81 with Josh Doyle claiming other 3lbs off , Could well have been targeted for this race after last years results here

Chepstow 14:20

Princess Roania....from Peter Bowen yard the 6yo has won a NH flat race on her first run on races track as a 4yo and it took another 10 races with seven place 2nd places finish in NHF and maiden and novice hurdle race before yard went on flat turf at Bath 2m 1f handicap soft in June 2016 looking for win and she came up trumps winning by 6 lengths but since then a couple more flat races and Hurdle races saw only 3 more place finishes from another 11 races with last race only 14 days ago ,

That last race was at Worcester 2m 4f good handicap hurdle class 4 when 4th of 16 runners when beaten 14 lengths with Sean Bowen in saddle she also drops back to class 5 and cheekpieces kept on also she was running off 113 when 2nd in races in NH races and down to 94 and could be right up for a win
