3.30 Newmarket

Song Maker

Of the two Godolphin owned runners, it's Song Maker that has shown the better consistency to date, trained by Charlie Appleby, and ridden by William Buick.
Last time out Song Maker got beaten a nose by Rinaria at Wolverhampton over 8 1/2F, she just got collared on the post, and today's shorter distance will suit Song Maker who should be well capable of getting into the shake up once again. Odds of around 9/2 (5.5) are not over generous considering there are plenty in here with ability, in a very open looking race, and those odds are too short for my pocket money. Nevertheless she looks one with chances and Godolphin will be disappointed if they don't get into this race with one of their filly's who are both market fancies.

Aimez La Vie

Had a good season winning 3 of 6 starts on the turf. All three wins have come over 7f with this being first attempt at this distance today. Finished strongly last time out at Musselburgh to secure win to suggest the extra distance today should not be an issue. Conditions should be fine having won on good to firm to soft conditions this season.

HIDDEN STEPS

trained by Andrew Balding with David Probert in the saddle, will have no problem, with the distance of 8 furlongs, can run on good ground, drops 6 lbs from last race, even though won this race, by 1 1/2 lengths, on good ground, has ran in class 2 company before. has ew appeal.

Assanilka
Picking Assanika in this race as it ran ok in it's last run out finishing 4th of 13 off a rating of 78 but that was a class 4 race and this is a step up in class to class 2 level. The race before that was on turf and it finished 9th of 11 off a rating off 85 and it is down to a rating off 77 in this race.It finished 11.5 lengths behind Clearly which is the favourite for this race. But with it's jump in the ratings and this horses drop in the ratings it carries 13 lbs less in this race and i think it could challenge for a place.

AIMEZ LA VIE

Ran really well last time out and steps up in class here. Richard Fahey doesn't often overface his fillies and she is well worth a look in this company.

Up 4 pounds for her last run, but she could have won by more and is well on the upgrade.

Paul Hanagan aboard, I like Paul.

Quick score update below, will do a full one in a few days. I've had a little break from selecting as my recent picks since I won two races back are bloody awful. Take a step back and comeback refreshed next month.

CHELMSFORD CITY 7.45 MUSICAL TERMS

This Royal runner has won his last two races over one mile on good ground and over this course and distance in his latest start 21 days ago when running on well to beat Toga Tiger by a short head so with R L Moore booked to ride again he can complete the hat-trick tonight for the in form trainer W J Haggas

HARBOUR ROCK

He had been running very consistently up until LTO when he was upped in class but he now drops down to Class 4 and could go well again. He won his maiden over this distance with Cool Team back in 3rd who has gone on to do well this year, scoring on numerous occasions. David Simcock has a very good record around here, especially with horses that aren't maidens.

MUSICAL TERMS

Owned by HRH and seeking a hat trick this Willie Haggas trained 3 year old son of Shamardal has clearly been on the upgrade winning a class 5 at Ripon over 1 mile and then following up with a CD win in this class last time out.
Up 3 pounds for that last effort (very narrow win) he looks capable of going in again, with the talents of Ryan Moore retained in the saddle.
