Horseracing Discussion - Thursday 1st March

4.30 Ludlow - anyone looking for a value bet or a bet to trade option can do much worse than take the 3/1 ( BOG ) for Nicky Henderson's Hit The Headlines - who is surely better than his last effort when disappointing at Kempton - personally I had him in at 2/1 Jt fav with the Nicholls runner Themilanhorse and will be amazed if bet365's price lasts....... Good Luck If You Play :hope:

I do enjoy following Joe Fanning and tommorow is very interesting for him.

few Rides at Southwell tommorow, but the interesting ones are.

2.20 Chatterati
4:20 Son Vida
4:50 Joe Le Taxi

Then two down in Kempton

8:10 Shieldmaiden
8:40 Perfect Ch'I

Seems like alot of rushing for Joe to ride Shieldmaiden, taking into consideration racing traffic and it being rush hour. Assuming he will travel by car, even if he was travelling by helicopter its still a hole lot of effort for him to ride at Kemtpon.

Also note that in the 5.20 Southwell another Mark Johnston Horse is running without Joe fanning on it.

One would think he is at Kempton to ride Shieldmaiden, got to be their to win ?

Interesting. Will be on Shieldmaiden for that reason but also Joe le taxi as its on a very winnable mark dropping down in class.

P Hobbs has two out at Ludlow one in the first and another in the 4.00,which interest me the most.

FAIROAK LAD drop in class and has not run for over 494 days, shown in the past that he can win first time out and has been a very good chance in this class 3 handicap over three miles, which is his distance and good ground in his favour also.
P Hobbs has had a quiet times of things lately but some of his runners are starting to win and many have been placed. This is his time of year when P Hobbs seem to shine.
The only bookie going 4/1 at this time is Vicbet and the rest around the 7/2 mark.

I see Opinion Poll is running in the 5:30 Meydan and is coming up against his now stable mate Foxhunt for the first time since his switch from the Johnston yard. Foxhunt is currently favourite and is seemingly Dettori's pick of the two but i wouldn't take the form from when the pair last met in the Goodwood Cup as straight forward as i think Opinion Poll is better than the manor of that victory as he was getting closed down by a trio at the line which included Foxhunt, and it is clear on the prices that they expect Foxhunt to reverse that form today although i am not a believer. There looks to be a cracking price about Opinion Poll who although has only won over this distance once he has always been there abouts and i think he is well worth the punt at the price.

SAMASANA - Record at track - 52-2111 - Record over C+D - 2-2211 (40% strike rate over course & distance)

14:20 Southwell - Samasana - Southwell is a horses for courses track & as Samasana as proved recently, she really loves it around here. She as raised a total seventeen pounds since winning over course & distance three starts back though on each occasion she’s shown signs of improvement, getting better with each run & her current mark of sixty eight still leaves her out of the handicappers reach. Not sure which one of the four Johnston horses will take his chance yet; Lionrock is entered tomorrow (Monday 27th February) so that’s probably one of the unlikely one’s. The James Tate filly Cape Safari is continuing to improve & she’s the only other course & distance winner in the field. She so far could prove to be the main danger. Flying Pickets is the only other course winner in the field, winning both his all weather starts here over seven furlongs though he’s now starting to look a little exposed. (Sunday 26th February)
This is what i wrote having gone through the card on Sunday. With what as been left in the field, i think the Even money on offer a decent price.

I also written this for the second race:
FLYING PICKETS - Record at track - 22116-4 - Record over C+D - 211 (66.66% strike rate over course & distance)

14:50 Southwell - Flying Pickets - Alan McCabe as his gelding entered in the first race also though I would be extremely interested in him if he went for this race. He’s only one of two course & distance winners within the field along with Point At Issue though the form between the two points highly towards Flying Pickets. Both have been allotted the same racing weight for this claimer though on there recent course & distance form, there’s eighteen pounds between them. The two have recently meet over six furlongs here, for which Point At Issue finished twelve & a half lengths in front of Flying Pickets though the formerly named was giving the David Nicholls runner six pounds on that occasion & was very slow away. The return to seven furlongs is sure to play to the advantage of the selection, Flying Pickets & he should prove very difficult to beat. (Sunday 26th February)

POINT AT ISSUE - Record at track - 7612-2 - Record over course & distance - 1 (100% strike rate over course & distance)
Flying Pickets is currently 5.1 with Betfair. This looks a really good price i feel.

Good Luck All ..... :win:
