COOLE CODY

Coole Cody loves it here at Cheltenham with three of his 5 chase wins coming here as recently as last December and although only two in the race he won by 10 lengths. He is back down in weight to near enough his penultimate win which was a Grade 3 over the same distance and going at this course. Although now 12 years old he still remains competitive and would relish the return here. Adam Wedge who has ridden him for four of his five chase wins.

Good luck all :win:

420 sedg

El jefe

Won over course and distance with this rating here last season and has always run consistently honest races and is now also 11 pounds lower than last season and dropped to 96 after his run this season and he could be good enough here with claimer on board taking another 7 pound off. Good ew shot at big price.

4.20S - Fearless Action
Finished 4th of 9 last time out after nearly two years off making headway
3 out and weakening 2 out over 2m 3f 188yds. Rating drops 2 points today
with the drop in trip to 2m 178yds suiting. Will strip fitter for that last run
only 16 days ago and also has a change of jockey.

El Jefe

El Jefe represents the stable of Andrew Hamilton. He has one win to his credit, and that win was in a similar race over 2m1f here at Sedgefield. He had a bad race at Musselburgh the previous time, but that could be put down to a warm-up start after a long break. El Jefe starts with a mark of 96 and given that the same jockey William Shanahan claims 7 lbs, they have a good chance of repeating their winning race of December 2021, then a mark was 95

4.20 Sedgefield - Silkstone

He has an excellent recent record over course and distance, finishing 2nd of 14 in September before winning twice in November, so is hat trick seeking today. All 3 races have been with Emma Smith-Chaston on board and she claims 3lb’s this time. Good to soft going will suit well and he looks well handicapped.

SEDGEFIELD 4.20 BRIDGE EOAD

This J Candlish trained 7-y-o gelding has only won once from 12 starts over hurdles over one mile seven furlongs on good to soft ground but has been placed five times the latest when third of the 14 runners behind Dancewiththewind over two miles on good to soft ground at Wetherby 34 days ago so with regular pilot Sean Quinlan onboard he could easily make the frame in this poor race

Edgar Allen Poe

9yo but having just it's 6th run over hurdles this afternoon, showed a really good attitude on horrible ground last time, staying on after being headed, has gone up 4lb for that run but could easily have improvement to come especially when you consider his best flat form came on a sounder surface which he is likely to encounter this afternoon. Trainer does well at this time of year and double figure price adds to the enthusiasm.

Sedgefield
4:20
Bahtiyar

The market usually gets this race fairly right, with fav or 2nd fav fighting it out in at least three of the four running's, neither of which are beneficial to me as far as points are concerned. One of the two top weights Bahtiyar who has not yet won a race and was runner up on just one occasion, might just be able to make an impression here.

Will be making just his fifth appearance for his current stable who gave him wind surgery after two runs and a nearly two months off before his last outing on boxing day where he finished 5th/13. Down two pounds here but will need to improve in his finishing, has the stamina, and today has traveled quite a distance for this event, with a more local meet taking place at Fontwell, and the stables with a runner there today too, it appears they prefer a tilt at this. Place.

Sedgefield 4.20
BRIDGE ROAD is an improver. - his latest two runs have been his best.
Last time he took part in a remarkable race at Wetherby, keeping on well to place third. The horses filling places 5, 7, 9, 12 and 13 all won next time out.
Bridge Road drops in class today and has his best form proven at today's distance and on good to soft going.
Cheekpieces are worn - his form figures in these read 213.

BAHTIYAR

Bahtiyar was regularly in the places until his last two races so has a tongue tie fitted for the first time today to go with his hood that was tried out last time out. Had wind surgery back in October so has had time to recover and was not a bad effort last time when 5th of 13 at 25/1 over 18.5 furlongs. Jack Quinlan takes the reins today. Prefers toda'ys distance and likes softish going.

Good luck all :win:
