classic pursuit
A 7yr old gelding trained by Michael Appleby. Had quite a busy career with 76 races, 48 of those on the flat where he won 8 of them. Runs mainly over 5f and has won races in most conditions. Class 5 appears to be his best win, so a career best would be needed to take this Class 2. However its soft going and he has a stone in hand over the top weights plus a further 5lb with apprentice Theodore Ladd on board. The horse asks one of those questions of why do bookies always win, if you look at the 2 wins in August where he won, he made every yard, so why in his next races would you hold him up? go to confused dot com to find out.

COPPER KNIGHT
He is a multiple times this distance winner. He won over this distance, LTO, with today's jockey, who has had some very good results when on board. There may be concern with the going, but he should manage the soft ground. He has a middle draw, in the 8 stall. I would have preferred a bit lower on today's going, but the middle should be OK. He has had some good races with the tongue tie and this is retained.

Blue De Vega
Picking Blue De Vega In this race as it has won 3 times and placed in 6 from 23 runs out on turf in flat race. And 9 of them runs out have came in class 1 races and it won 1 and placed in 3 of them so it has ran at the top level and did ok in some of it's runs at that level. It has ran 11 times at this class 2 level winning 1 and placing in 3.It's win at this class 2 level came in the class 2 Neptune at Ascot off a rating of 93.Evergate placed 2nd in that race finishing half a length behind Blue De Vega Evergate is also in this race and they again both have the same rating in this race as they both have a rating of 92 for this race. The going for this is soft/going to soft and this horse has won on good to firm, good to yielding and on yielding so it has won on different types of going.

EVERGATE
Evergate is wearing blinkers for the first time today hopefully to eke out some more out of him. Has mainly competed in Class 2 and making his mark there. Versatile as far as going concerned and distance his usual.
Good luck all

Bowson Fred
Michael Easterby's inmate Bowson Fred has been in the racing wilderness for the last two years. But today he will be fitter for last week's return to action on his latest outing at York over 5 furlongs beaten 8 lengths behind Copper Knight when tenth of eighteen. Winner of five races at 5 furlongs on ground varying from good to firm to good to soft and on the all-weather. Nathan Evans has the reins.

STORM OVER
Seems suited by the underfoot conditions having ran really well at Haydock, having been tapped for toe early doors and won here this time last year, so should use the good draw in stall 2 to good effect, and Fran Berry a very good pilot to have on board.

foolaad
the horse has had some disappointing results of late, it was beaten home by the ambulance on its latest outing. however the ground may have been too heavy for it at ayr and the odds may be a tad too big for a runner that has won seven of its last seventeen races. a falling handicap mark will aid its cause, it is four pounds lower than when winning at perth in april on good to soft going

BENGALI BOYS
The horse has previously won over the distance and is coming back down the weights from its high of 105 last year. It finished fourth, beaten less than a length, in a Class 1 at York off that mark. Today it's racing off 93 with 5 pound claimer aboard. In May this year, it was beaten into third place by only 0.56 lengths in a Class 2 over 5f of good to soft at Hamilton

SAAROCHI
I'm increasingly wary of the O'Brien / Heffernan pairing in events like this, particularly when a horse looks overpriced as this one does
She's been found wanting at group level but now is on suitable ground and is also dropped back in trip.
Could be underestimated by the market

Sarrocchi - from AP O'Brien yard the 3yo has been a winner at 7f on yielding ground but that was as 2yo in her first race on a racetrack since then as 3yo she's had five over 7f,1m,1m 2f, 1m 4f and last race 91 days ago over 1m 1f at Curragh group 2 off 95 mark she's was beaten 6 lengths by Magical but had a solid enough effort against top class horse from her own stable with a couple of Joseph O'Brien and a Jessica Harrington horse who finished 2nd , The yard bring in Seamie Heffernan to ride the horse and Willie Mullins commented last week after winning on Low Sun in the 2m2f Newmarket race on his horse that he's a jockey that will get everything out of the horse he rides, AP probably still trying to get the best out of this horse with trying all those different distances
