This is my favourite darts event of the year along with the World Matchplay. Three bookmakers are paying out on the semi-finalists as each way.

Looking from what I've seen this year Michael Van Gerwen is the man to beat here. Phil Taylor's game is also coming along nicely and 4/1 is great odds for the Power.

UK Open is different compared to others where there is a chance and outsider will make the final if they get a good draw. My three bets are all in good form and are good value.

First up is Michael Smith at 33/1. He has won one UK Open qualifier this year with being a semi-finalist in another qualifier. He has got everything to win a big event if his head is in the right place. He was a delight to watch in patches at the World Championship. Needs to start games better though.

Next up is Jelle Klaasen at 100/1. He reached a final of one of the qualifiers recently beating Phil Taylor in the process. There was times last year where he was playing darts at a breathtaking level to only drop off at his next game. Consistency is the main issue for Jelle especially in the World Championship.

Another Dutchman I'm liking the look of is Vincent Van der Voort at 100/1. He has had an excellent start to the year reaching four quarter-finals and a losing finalist in the UK Open Qualifier. Certainly one player to look out for judging by his consistency this year.

Will we get a chance to tip on the 3 rd round draw?

Only Anderson v king appears which is the first pair alphabetically in the 3 rd round. No sign of the other pairings in the 3 rd round

Anyway as I predicted before the tournament started that the big names can get drawn against each other from the 3 rd round and the value was to look outside the big 4. This is what has happened and I tipped chisnall at 28 to 1 and he has now come in to 14 to 1 before he has even thrown a dart!

Was Anderson betting on the match himself?

Strange performance so say the least. MVG has a shoulder injury so don't bet on him in the next round.

R Huybrechts continued his Premier League form.

Semi Finals;

Gilding vs MVG
Bunting vs Wright

Best of luck to them.

Great to see a new guy there [breaking through] in the shape of Gilding.
